- Electrical Safety First, with help from award winning comedian and actor David Walliams, has brought back the nation's favourite safety character, Charley Says. In this new film, Charley the cat help his hapless owner learn a valuable lesson - never overload sockets!
Good to see Charley back, well done for matching the animation style of the originals so well.

Sir, when I first heard of Charley's return, I was beside myself with happiness; I like Mr Walliams and was sure he would do a good job, but unfortunately, I can hear his lack of commitment all the way across the Interweb. It has to be said, whether somebody sets fire to their house by wiring their oven into a light socket, or gets a new hairdo because they don't realise licking plug sockets is dangerous, is purely secondary to the main focus of the video, Charley. He is the star, and you have reduced him to a pastiche of his former self. Mr Walliams uttering a half hearted meow or two for three seconds does not do justice to the formerly excellent vocalisations of my feline hero. I understand that you're trying to get in the way of natural selection by creating helpful videos that explain why pole vaulting near electricity pylons might not be a good idea, but if you are not careful, you will find you have destroyed a cult phenomenon in much the same way as The Blues Brothers 2, Every other Highlander after Highlander 1, and Blue Peter after John Noakes left.
Charley sounds like he's on bath salts.

Agree with what others have said. The fact that you have kept the original animation style and not modernised it is brilliant. Unfortunately David Walliams' voice just doesn't work. A younger person would have suited it better.

Takes more than that to overload a socket. Plus most electrical appliances these days have a thermal cut-out.
Charley is a better cat than Moray Council who provide temp accomadation without Gas Safety Certification AND a fuse box that's re-rooted the cooker circuit into a plug socket just to bypass the pay as you go electric meter!!!!
They said an engineer was coming but I never really believed that Back to cooking outside on a camping stove.

agree we need a young voice or a proper voice over. I too grew up with these in the 70s. its the voice as well as the animation that we remember well.

This is just awful, David Walliams does it no justice. You need a young person doing the voice of the lad and then someone better doing Charley the cat.

While a noble effort, what blows about E.S.F's Charlie Says campaign is they didn't get a real kid to do the voice for the child and they never used an archived audio track of Kenny Everett's voice of Charlie

I am pretty sure it was Kenny Everett that did the original Charley voice, so there is not much chance of getting him to return. As for the little boy, I have no idea who it was but as he probably had his voice break 30yrs ago he wont sound the same either. Nice to see Charley back though.
Perhaps we could have more cartoons of Charley warning people of modern dangers such as:-
1. Charley and co in a car park see a pensioner reversing towards them.
2. Charley and co on the underground find themselves standing next to islamics wearing rucksacks.
3. Charley and co visit a relative who is being cared for in Stafford hospital.
4. Charley and co, whilst on holiday in the Ukraine make jokes about Vladmir Putin.
5. Charley gets cat flu and whilst on his death bed warns his family that he does not have funeral cover hence landing them with a bill of £3k if he is going to avoid a paupers grave.
