I remember being at this show in Baltimore when I was 20 yrs old and Ms. Lisa Fischer sang...I told my dad she should make a solo album and a year later, she did it! Mr. Vandross had the best working with him.
Every time Lisa Fischer unleashes at 3.59 I almost fall off my chair.
I've been trying to find this song for the past 3yrs.. finally caught it on the radio yesterday.. fast forward to me enjoying it now, and I'm just realizing how she killed it @ the 4min mark.. OMG ! This song is so 🔥
@@jasonnoble3874 The tragedy and frustration is so many of Lisa Fischer’s best performances are only available on amateur UA-cam videos. OK, we know she has an aversion to the recording industry but why can’t a private label (financed by her fans?) record her? When we do get a professionally recorded effort such as the Albert Hall concert, in memory of Nina Simone, the results are astonishing.
We lost him way too soon. No one today comes close to what Luther gave us. Thankfully, we have his music to keep his memory alive.

It's wonderful she's gotten the recognition after so many years in the industry thanks to "20 Feet From Stardom"! Who even gives live shows like this????? No damn body.. these artist today talent could not hold the attention of the audience like this.. wasn’t nothing special about this just pure vocals, two step and CLASS with R&B
He also had 3 additional background singers at band side, to give the background a fuller effect.
That's where that rich background vocal comes from, I though there was more than four part harmony.
Those additional background singers are who really make the other three sound good. Paulette McWilliams, Tawatha Agee, and Cindy Michelle, they're awesome!

I am so glad i got to see Luther.....twice, Natalie Cole once, Ray Charles twice, once in Chicago once in Vegas, Rick James once, the Jacksons, in Chicago, Nancy Wilson and Phyllis Hyman and Kenny Rogers in Vegas. I have one regret, that I didn't get to see Frank Sinatra.

I saw Luther at Essence Festival in New Orleans. The absolute performance ever! He was a true musician and his band and background singers were simply amazing!

Not only was he a great musician he, unlike so many today, was unafraid to have musicians his equal on the stage with him. Anyone unafraid to take on Liza Fisher knowing how brilliant she was, knew more about music than about their own ego.

I was just about to type the same thing. What an awesome voice. I actually first became aware of her when she sang with the Rolling Stones. Her part in GIMME SHELTER???? To this day gives me goosebumbs.

It is still Very Hard for me to watch at times fantastic performances like this because I still cannot believe that Luther Vandross (RIP) is no longer on Earth. On top of that, I still feel so sad that at the time of this concert, he was struggling with Weight Problems and Unbeknownst to me at that time, he felt he had to hide the fact that he was Gay. I actually saw the U.S. version of this concert and I was totally mesmerized and enchanted. On top of that, these outfits/gowns looked like they weighed a ton under stage lighting that must have felt like the Sun, and I personally would only wear something that heavy to sing Backup for a Legend like Luther Vandross:)Luther Vandross was a Musicians Musician and if you do not believe it ask (the very talented) Ms. Lisa Fisher who is also on stage in this clip. Lisa made it Very Clear that the reason she later won a Grammy for her debut album was because of Luther Vandross. Of course countless other musicians around the world, known and unknown including myself, say that Luther Vandross inspired/influenced their decisions to seek a career in the Music Industry. Once again, RIP Luther.....We will Never Forget You or Your Incredible Talent And Music Legacy.
....the costumes were made by....the late....TONY CHASE...and yes they weighed A TON...but his costumes paled in comparison when LUTHER....became friends with....GIANNI VERSACE....who not only made costumes for him....but designed his STAGE SET as well....and yes the costumes weighed TONS....REAL LEAD CRYSTAL BEADS AND CUT LEAD GLASS RHINESTONES....

OMG I saw this show in Birmingham, UK ! I remember the backing singers & the outfits, we were 5 rows from the stage !! I have never forgotten it and still miss him today. No one sang or has ever sung like Luther Vandross !!

My mother was asked to join his group Change while they were producing this song but her husband at the time stopped her from joining the group and to this day that is her biggest regret .
Boy, I was so blessed to see them perform once. WOW ! Him and his backup singers was best concert worth more than the money.....just beautiful quality at it's best no doubt...

I was at Wembley in 1989 too. Also saw him in '87, 93 and' 95. The best show was in '89. If you ever get a chance to see a great musician, don't ever hesitate you may never get the opportunity again. I was lucky enough to see Phyllis Hyman at Hammersmith Odeon in 1991 - 4 years later she passed away. Luther and Phyllis two of the very best R&B vocalists.
