She freaked him out six months ago singing O Mi Babbino Caro at 9 on Hollands Got Talent. At that point she was untrained with two years of singing with the TV to the likes of Maria Callas. Now she has some training. She just graduated as Valedictorian from high school and is going on a world tour for a year before pursuing a musical full education. She’s being careful not to screw up her voice as it is maturing.
you have just encountered Amira. She is phenomenal. She was 13 at this concert, where she also sang Nessun Dorma, and the opera aria, The flower duet, with Corlea Botha.
Favourite pieces have to include O mio babbino caro with Andre Rieu. ( age 10). Ave Maria Gomez. (Age 11). Nella Fantasia, live in concert, ( age 12). Gabriella's Song. (Age 14). Most recent releases are La vigine degli angeli (16) and Nearer my God to thee (18).
Bagpipes are always associated with Amazing Grace here in the UK, since the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards military band had a surprise novelty hit with the tune back in the early 70s. Must be a European thing, Amira is Dutch.
Her audition video for Hollands Got Talent is required material. Her opera voice is absolutely incredible.

Amazing Grace is traditionally performed with bagpipes, especially at the funerals of firefighters and police officers.

"La Virgine d'Angeli" is also awsome with a great (man's)choir.
This performance took place in June 2017 and she had just turned 13 year old on March 27,2017. Although we think of this hymn as mostly American it was written by an English sailor involved in the slave trade. He eventually became an Anglican minister and abolitionist. The playing of the pipes is very appropriate for the hymn is popular in the UK as well. It's estimated this hymn is played at least 10 million times a year.

She spent two years copying Maria Callas and other stars before she auditioned at Hollands GitTalent.
At this concert, I believe she was either 12 or 13, as the concert was held in South Africa in 2016 or 2017, and she was born in 2004. There are many videos to choose from on YouYube and most of her fans would probably suggest that you begin with the three songs she sang on her way to winning Hollands Got Talent in 2013. My personal favorites along the way to her current maturity at 18, besides this Amazing Grace, are Nella Fantasia, Gabriella's Song (which she sings in Swedish), O Sole Mio as a duet with Patrizio Buanne when she was 12, and La Vergine degli Angeli at 18. But there are many more to choose from. Many are of the operatic genre.
I must say as a Canadian, I am surprised that you were surprised at the bagpipes being part of Amazing Grace. In my experience it is very common, particularly at funerals or on other special occasions. Perhaps that is my Scottish heritage coming through.

This was Classics is groot 2017, she was 13. In 2016 she sang O mio babbino caro, O sole mio, with Patrizzio Buanne, and nella fantasia.
Notwithstanding your American connection, this was a hymn composed by John Newton, born in London in July 1725. He was a slave ship captain but became a Christian and wrote this hymn as a testimony to the saving grace he found in Christ. Thank you for your Reaction. The image was rather indistinct, but as far as I know there are no copyright issues with this rendering. Only a small number of her songs are on You Tube and serve to promote her, the majority are on CDs and in concerts.
Why is everyone always surprised about bagpipes being played with Amazing Grace? Bagpipes are traditionally associated with the song, it's the first instrument I think of when I hear the tune. Maybe it's a British vs American thing?
According to another UA-cam channel, ran by two British gentlemen, this song is popular in Scotland.

Amazing grace with bagpipes is common in Irish festivals and culture events at least in the Cleveland area.
not just Cleveland. i am having trouble thinking of any time i have heard it with out bagpipes.
You must hear the Ave Maria (Gomez) that she did in a Church (Canisius church). She performs with her parents and brother. It is incredible to hear mortals (however skilled) accompany her, especially with the fascinating acoustics of the big church space.

Amazing grace is an English song, it's common over here to have bagpipes play it.
You claim Amazing Grace is popular in the USA however the song actually originated from the UK, so bagpipes are not uncommon.
