best band ever
My dad's youngest brother turned out to be a dear friend, not just my uncle. Scott had a love of music and his vinyl record collection was legendary. When he passed away his best friend from college came to the rescue adopting me as an honorary niece and dear friend. He told me many stories about their wild escapades in the late 60's early 70's as young men and one of the stories he told me was about Uncle T's quest for this album, which he called the butcher album and said was rare and expensive. Uncle T got it. Fast forward to 2016: uncle T passed away unexpectedly and his estranged daughter only had one mission - locating the fortune Uncle T inherited from his dad. In her quest she abandoned the house looking for the money (joke was on her - she discovered he spent every last penny). The property manager told me later that that fabulous record collection was sold for pennies on the dollar in a yard sale to pay for cleaning and emptying of the house. I hope they all found loving homes. RIP Scott and Dana. I miss you both terribly. ❤❤
The Beatles and mono...perfect together
Yes my copie is mono 😍
Know what? I was thinking exactly the same thing. Mono does sound really good, doesn't it?
"Life is very short, and there’s no time for fussing and fighting, my friend"☮
That is so good. This is my favorite era of the Beatles.
That's really interesting..This particular transer is a keeper
I've had "Beatlemania" ever since I saw their first performance on the Ed Sullivan Show in Feb '64, I was 9yrs old. I still listen to the Beatles every day. My kids and grandkids are all huge fans, even my 5yr old great granddaughter can sing along. 😊
I love this album ❤️
Beatles "purists" knock Capitol for turning out albums that differed from their Parlophone counterparts (up to Sgt. Pepper). Unlike Parlophone, Capital put Beatles singles on albums that for some reason the powers that be at Parlophone wouldn't. Compilation albums like Yesterday and Today and Beatles '65 gave American buyers music they wouldn't ordinarily have access to. Of course, that was before the imports became readily available to American Beatles fans.
Today is the 57th anniversary of the release of this album. I remember about six weeks after the album came out, I was getting out of the bathtub and I heard the opening strains of "Drive My Car". I knew "Yesterday and Today" was playing - my brother's girlfriend had gotten it for his birthday. I still have awesome memories of this album - glad it's presented here in mono!
This album's tracks are here there and everywhere
I did not know about this album and the controversial cover. Today I'm listening to this album like I've heard the songs for the very first time. It is a very great record
Welcome to a more complete life my friend.
Yes great album! If you come across the original Lp it would definitely improve your bank account! $$$$
I like the mono mix. it's actually very balanced and mixed very well.
It is a JOY to hear this in Mono. The songs from Revolver are FABulous!
This is the only version of "And Your Bird Can Sing" where the guitar part in the middle section is not turned down. It's the best version of this song in my opinion.
'it's then' - Therefore.
It's the best version, in my opinion.
One of my favorite songs.
That solo is absolutely awesome. Go George!!!

Pretty sure it’s actually Paul playing lead on that song. That’s what I have read in multiple sources anyhow. It could just be an urban legend.
Thought I’d just throw that out there
I can't help that ever time i hear And Your Bird Can thinking about that Beatle cartoon that came out in the sixties.
Classic masterpiece timeless art and music par excellence
To think back and realize these “kids” (early 20s) were cranking out musical revolutionary full LPs just about every 6 months.
We were just digesting the greatness of the previous LP before the next one was coming out. The speed and growth of their brilliant genius creativity was just flowing out of their relentless creative work ethics, looking back is mind blowing.
There’ll never be another on this level of music, cultural changes, global connectivity,
Like an BC / AD era
Exactly you had to be there too understand that. I was you were too👍
I'm Only Sleeping, easily, far and away the most underrated Beatles song, pure John Lennon Genius, has different backwards "riffs" in this offering of Yesterday and Today. 🙂
моя любовь с детства к THE BEATLES
i can remember in the basement spinning this and rubber soul albums on my parents humungus console stereo..,with my sisters....like 1960's
My dad bought 2 copies at Sears on 1966, he gave them to me and im very very proud to have those gems, one tereo and other mono, both were pressed on west coast.
Must be worth thousands!
Love the rare mono mix of I'm Only Sleeping & the other Revolver
songs . Very cool! 👍
They`ve even put echo on "Yesterday". I love it.
People call this a compilation but back in the sixties we didn’t think that. We had 2 songs from the UK rubber soul and 3 from the UK revolver all of which we had never heard. And the remaining were great singles. This was gold to us.
Agreed, this is not a compilation. It's an original release with songs unreleased in the US "The beatles Again" AKA "Hey Jude" is a compilation.
🎸😎A melhor banda do planeta terra de rock sem dúvida nenhuma.❤🎸
This is such an amazing mash up by the Yanks !!! bloody love it to bits cover and all !!
Only Americans are offended by art they don't understand or approve. They have Thomas Kincade on their walls.
Beatles=Best Band
This is fantastic. I love the Mono sound. Thanks for sharing!
Still the best mix of "I'm Only Sleeping"
YES.
This like a greatest hit album.
I heard this as a kid and liked it immensely. It's a good listen, despite or perhaps because of all the tracks being purloined off other albums. The same thing is true of the U.S. version of 'Rubber Soul'.
That's the real Beatles....I got sharp ear...they are my favorite band .The Beatles beat show..

Fun fact: U.S. fans were treated to three Beatles songs before the rest of the world. Y&T came out one month before Revolver in the U.S., so U.S. fans got to hear Dr. Robert, And Your Bird Can Sing, and I'm Only Sleeping before the rest of the world.
Great for USA fans those are two great songs wish John were still alive to perform them
Best Album of The Beatles, so thanks for sharing ❤❤❤❤
I never forget when my brothers got this record in 1966. That late summer I was a 3 year old and I’ll never forget hearing it on my parents porch over and over it was something special and never forget it!
Yesterday a classic song.
Well this is cool!
The Beatles: Fantastic Music...💯
The guitar sounds on this particular collection are absolutely exquisite. I know Capital pasted this LP together from songs on the UK releases titled "With the Beatles" and "Beatles for Sale' plus songs that were intended for "Revolver". Nonetheless, the songs on "Yesterday and Today" hang together really well. And they come from the sessions where the Beatles really began to produce revolutionary music. But somehow it gets overlooked compared to Revolver and Rubber Soul. Nonetheless,if I had to choose a favorite Beatles LP it would be this one. "And Your Bird Can Sing" still blows my mind.
I'm so happy to have found this version, the original. I bought this record when it first came out, had the original cover with the boys around the trunk Paul was sitting in, steamed off the cover to find the meat/babies under it. I had it for many years and a friend borrowed it, then moved away and I never saw him or my record again. Sad story but at least I have this so thanks again!!!!
I still have my original with the cover rubbed off reviled the baby cover, album's a bit scratched from playing them over and over. I'm 71 this year Jan 2024 still rocking.
With friends like this, you don't need enemies.
Te lo robo no era tu amigo
I just came here for the music.
The Beatles forever ❤❤❤❤💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
Literally listening to hundreds of dollars worth of vinyl here. I should have put a suit and tie on for this occasion.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
Thanks - like a fool I disposed of all my beatles vinyl when the cds came out. They were no match for my own mono copy of this gem. Capitol knew their stuff, pace George Martin.
9:18 I love how this mix of Dr. Robert keeps the bass louder and the maracas during the bridge, sounds more psychedelic than the final version
And if you listen closely at the very end, you can hear John faintly say “Okay, Herb”. No idea who Herb was.
Lol.
I think the guitar is too loud in this mix. It hides the vocals way too much in my opinion. I will be stoned for it, but I think the stereo mix of this song is superior to the mono mix. I am really eager to hear the remix of Revolver, which I think is their best. I hope the mix will be as brave as the Sgt Pepper one was in 2017. I love that.
@@VahanNisanian he says ok er..um then it cuts off. You can hear it clearly in Revolver 2022 mix sessions cd
What a fantastic album
Soy un abuelo de 71 años y respeto sus comentarios
Super pozdrawiam serdecznie Robert 👍👍👍🖐️🖐️🖐️
I'm Only Sleeping is a revelation. Knowing this collection basically covers a year of their music, at times it's as if they are not by the same people. And this is only regarding the songs. The full story of Yesterday and Today can't be told without the cover situation. All part of a wild 1966 for the Fabs that included LSD, the Philippines, Tokyo, bigger than Jesus, supposedly falling popularity, the final show in Candlestick, the 3 month break, Strawberry Fields Forever, and John meeting Yoko.
Fools burning their albums were setting light to $100 notes
LSD began in March (?) 1965, when John, Cynthia, George and Patti received coffee spiked with LSD?
Thanks for sharing this album. As a US Beatles fan, the US albums are what I grew up on. Although I now prefer the UK releases, I still appreciate (some of) the US releases, this being one of them. I have a Japanese re-issued Butcher copy of this album, and the record sounds just like the original 1966 release.
I still prefer the US albums. Even though the UK albums have been available on CD since I was two, my dad had the Capitol LPs and that is what I heard growing up. Revolver is the only one where I prefer the UK version over the US.
I love all Beatles album and this cover was not correct for when it came out am still looking for a copy
In glorious Mono
certainly is... as intended
Great American LP. I bought it when I was in college. The LP was essentially cannabilized from Rubber Soul, Revolver, and singles from the previous year.
Nos meus 70 anos não consigo deixar de ouvir Beatles.Maravilha!!!
Likewise!
This is the album I grew up with...years later I learned how the original cover was the Beatles protesting how the Capital Records in the US butchered their UK albums.
i love this album. it's joyful and humorous at times. i like drive my car but my favorite is if i needed someone because of the harmonies.
I think this is the pure 60s sonic sound. No remastering, no digital crap... I started listening to the Beatles in the 80s, and the re-issued continuously came with the word stereo on the sleeve. I believe they''re all British mixes. I do own a certain 'Beatles Forever' LP supposedly released only in Brazil and Argentina with random songs from various periods, like "I'm Down", "I Call Your Name", "Day Tripper" and some from "Magical Mystery Tour", like "Blue Jay Way" and "The Fool on the Hill". It's quite an interesting release.
Please dont spoil my day Im only sleeping........float up stream......these guys got me through boarding school.......OMG the world has changed so much.
The mangled editing of the album and the jacket are a perfect match.
And your Bird Sing, is the most haunting, got to listen to it over and over again song ever. I'm 65 and the Beatles were literally the soundtrack of my growing up.
Me too ☮️
I remember someone analyzed the lyrics and said they were definitely attuned to some ancient historical/mystical event.
@@scottodonnell7121 Not surprised. John Lennon was a voracious reader.
@@scottodonnell7121 Care to tell us what it is? Thanks.
@@user-ku9jl3ix3x If I could remember, I would. It was decades ago.
The perfect album !!!
Help! + Rubber Soul + Revolver 😅
Amazing to hear the unique mixes of the three Revolver tracks! Fun fact about this album, Drive My Car is actually a fold-down of the stereo mix, not the true mono. You can tell by the increased bass and cowbell, as well as louder piano in the bridges. Most people also believe If I Needed Someone is a fold-down as well, but this isn't confirmed.
I'm Only sleeping is also a stereo fold down. The mono track has the backwards guitar in the first half of the song whereas the stereo track has the backwards guitar in the second half.
@@normansaunders6891 That actually isn’t true. Both the original mono and stereo mixes have backwards guitar during the lines “everywhere at such a speed,” and there’s no backwards guitar there in this mono mix. It was an early revision made for this album, as at the time it was still being finalized for Revolver. That song, as well as And Your Bird Can Sing and Doctor Robert all have unique mono and stereo mixes for Yesterday and Today.
@@NintendoCraft28 Yes, I believe you are correct. George Martin & Geoff Emerick mixed the three tracks at the behest of Capitol who needed new product A.S.A.P. I have listened to the original and 2009 mono and stereo mixes which differ slightly from these. Well done!
@@normansaunders6891 There were no 2009 stereo and mono "mixes", but REMASTERS of the original stereo mixes from 1966. Get it straight!
Mono or stereo mix don’t really matter when Beatles are playing. The only difference is between the venyil and the CD versions which remains
Absolute madman.
Mono - the best way to hear this album
Wow, this is the first time I have heard these mono mixes, and must say they have a real punch, unlike the stereo LP mixes I have been hearing for decades. And your Bird Can Sing, and the guitar in Nowhere Man are particularly bright and prominent. Can't say I would prefer everything in mono, but it is interesting to see how balanced and accomplished these mono mixes are - maybe they were just not as good at stereo in 1965/1966.
When it comes to 60's recordings, mono is always the best way to listen in my opinion.
Viva Beatles.. love ❤️ on the Air...😅❤😅
The only single beatles LP with ringo having more than one song
I haven’t seen this cover in ages. Probably worth a mint!
I hope it is, I still have my original album. I can't believe that I'm alive at 71 years listening to the BEATLES now in April 2024. Rock On🤟🎎👬🎶☮
What is worth more is the first version with the boys all covered with blood
Great ! Thanks Beatles ! Thanks for Sharing !
Thank you for uploading this. I particularly enjoyed the mixes on Dr. Robert and We Can Work It Out, the harmonium sounds massive!
Whoever peeled it did a damn good job. No rips.
I haven't heard this album in years. Two cuts by Ringo!
Eu amo a música "We can work it out"! Maravilhosa!!!
i actually like that rough lo fi mono mix of i'm only sleeping
When I heard this album back in 1966, I had no idea that it was made up songs that the Beatles never meant for an album. But it's a great album anyway.
me to. wasnt until years later and said WTF?

This is good sounds like the record. And almost all favorites of mine. Thanks ❤
This tracklist is fire tbh
I think the peeled cover versions sound better!! 😁 Thanks for posting this.
The track listing of this collection is crazy, but I can understand how first generation fans in the USA have a sentimental attachment with this and the other albums that were very different vs the originally intended UK ones.
That said, those first four tracks' titles on side 1 seem to reflect some kind of dark humor...I mean "Drive My Car", followed by 'I'm Only Sleeping" which is not something you want to do while driving, then "Nowhere Man" because he's "nowhere" after sleeping behind the wheel, and then "Dr. Robert" because he needed to see a doctor after this chain of events, and if you think he passed on after this, "Yesterday" follows.
i love the Beatles but the song Yesterday always brings a tear to my eye
Beatles forever
ノ―ウェア・マン😢いつ視聴してもっ!、・・・・いいな♪♪ああぁぁ~。😢
I'm Only Sleeping is actually one of John's Greatest. Different backwards recordings in the Paul-in-Casket (Paul is Dead clue) cover/Butcher's Block cover (Pictured here). IOS is totally drug(LSD)-inspired. Hugely underrated perhaps the MOST underrated in The Beatles' entire catalog.
Beatles ❤❤❤
This album was like a greatest hits package of tunes from Help, Rubber Soul and Revolver. It came out in that period where the Beatles were in the studio recording Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Actually recording Revolver at that time June 1966. Love this album.
@@jonathandelplanque6051 yah, this and the revolver album were the heaviest and best ..I had them in 65 in 7th grade , my little neighbors big brother had rubber soul and sargent pepper and we traded for awhile.. the beatle bug bit us both pretty bad by then.. Neil passed away at 66 and played guitar and piano by 5th grade. I cant believe i had a 5th 6th grader actually teach me Romeo Juliet on piano.. he was the best little neighbor , I missed my chance to talk to him before he passed a few months ago.. sure hope he came back around .God save his soul... You definitely picked the two best albums of the Beatles... Those two Beatle albums helped me by in those times to feel life better as myself as much OR more than my belief in God as the father and jesus his son while attending church sad to say.. God bless you now.
Good thing the person who posted this noted that the rip was from the peeled cover version. The sound is SO different /eyeroll
Such a relevant comment/ eyeroll
The reason for different albums and mixes was because Capitol Records wanted to sell more records.. From the beginning through Revolver, EMI released 7 albums with almost the same material as Capitol Records' 11 albums. Plus there are two songs on Yesterday and Today ( One of the Capitol albums) that were not on the original EMI 7: We Can Work It Out and (one of the Beatles' Biggest hits) Day Tripper.
It's a bit more complicated than that. There are really two issues at play with the different album structures -
1 - Royalties were calculated differently in the US than the UK, and it cost more to have the full 14 tracks. As a result, UK albums released here were shortened to 11 or 12 tracks.
2 - In the UK, singles and EPs were considered a separate entity, and were not included on albums. In the US, people expected the latest hit single to be on the albums.
Nice album, a lot of my favorite songs.
EXCELENTE PRESENTACION DEL MATERIAL.
The version of I'm only Sleeping here is gorgeous - it really sounds, warm, woozy and lazy, the aural equivalent of a big squishy duvet. So much more effective than any of the 1987, 2009 or 2022 versions which all sound digitised and lifeless in comparison. Some things don't need to be updated to sound "crisp", "clean" or "modern".
What's neat too is that this is an early mix of the mono version. Completely different from the familiar UK mono counterpart.
Thank you great harmonies and Lead
Eternos. Alta qualidade! Parabéns pelo vídeo!!
When it comes too Beatles mono is best.
Omg I would love love to have a copy of the butcher cover. Covered original lp of course 🤤
With first one they had blood splatered all over themselves
Excellent 😎 👍 I Had This Album, But It Was Stereo Mix 🙆 For First Time I Heard This Mono Album 😁 "I'm Only Sleeping "Is Different Version Than Stereo Mix, But I Liked Mono Mix Soon 😎 Of Course, All Mono Tracks Are Good To Me 😎 Thanks To Upload 😄 Thank You So Much 🙇
My uncle Scott had a best friend since college, his name was Dana. My uncle Scott was incredible, not just family but a friend too. He passed suddenly in 2016 and I was devastated. In my grief I reached out to his BF and he became a dear friend until he passed last year. It was through him I heard many wild stories of their youth and learned more than I ever imagined about my uncle Scott. He lived an amazing and colorful life.
My uncle loved music and had an extensive vinyl collection. This is a rare Beatles album my uncle owned in his collection. I remember Dana telling me all about this cover - he called it "The Butcher" album or "Dead Baby" album and acquiring it cost my uncle a good deal of money. Dana spoke reverently about this album in particular.
Sadly, the whole album collection went God knows where after my uncle passed away - his daughter wouldn't respond to the property manager to come clear his belongings out of the house and everything was sold pennies on the dollar in a yard sale to pay the people clearing out the property. If someone bought the entire record collection God only knows they scored a special find.
Yesterday and Today/Rubber Revolver

This was the 1st way. I heard this album bring back many memories of the excitement that I had for the Beatles and still do to this day.
Mighty fine cut & paste album. Half loaded revolver.
Love! Love! LOVE this!!!!!!
For some reason, I think the mono mix of “Day Tripper” sounds best on this album. I don’t know if it’s more compressed or what, but, it’s such a powerhouse!
And to anyone who rags on the Capitol releases, shut up. You have no clue what you’re talking about.
Excellent video!
Yes haa!
gret, the Capitol packages are totally fantastic! I'm on your side. Besides, the early American fans would've been used to them. The British versions weren't really widely available until the CDs from the 80s.
