Great review, so many reviews offroad on the 890 but I definitely was curious about how the bike really rides on pavement as well, cant wait to get one!
Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback. I did a road ride last night to a trauma training session and it impressed me test again. It will sit easily at 75mph and then hustle in the twisters. I love it.
Nice to have a UK road review. So many 890R reviews are from the USA or Australia where they have more off road options whereas in the UK we’re fairly restricted and spend more time on the tarmac! I put some Rottweiler flip up mirrors on much helps with the wind resistance! Great review 😎👍
Hi Kev- thanks for watching and commenting. I agree- it's very different in the UK and I try not to think too hard about all the open spaces in other countries! We have what we have in the UK and it's up to us to make the most of that. I think it's beautiful and very different. Ride safe and have fun.
Sorry for the late reply and thanks for watching. The GPS is the Montana 700i. The Sumo XT looks brilliant too. The 700i has built in Inreach SOS which I wanted as I ride alone a lot of the time and there are lots of areas with no mobile signal. I try to ride carefully but Sh** does happen and it's nice to have a back up.
Sorry about that. It's pretty tricky trying to get high quality sound at 60-70mph- I have a mic inside the helmet. I'm still working on consistent high quality sound. Thanks for watching.
@@MaxPowerFilthcrud I have the GoPro media mod and a lavelier mic inside the helmet, so it’s just that mic recording. I might need to do some More research.
@@advnoobie6061 very true. When I purchased my S model i was hoping to to split the difference of on and off road riding. My Adventure S is very capable on on pavement but is a bit heavy for off road and lacks the suspension of the R model. Safe travels and nice talking with you
Thank you very much for this, I found it very informative and reassuring. With delivery of the next batch of these bikes not due until July, I've been seriously looking at alternatives. None of those however are as capable off road but it was the 890 long distance touring ability which raised concerns. I do have an extremely capable ZZR 1400 but as I'm in Scotland there's always roads it wouldn't cope with. You've sold me, I just need to be patient 🙄
Hi Michael and I’m really Pleased the video was useful. I had the 1290 SA which is an epic bike but didn’t have the right mix for me. Happy waiting. It’s worth it.
@@advnoobie6061 I've been keeping an eye out for an 890 R for sale but they're all only available for pre-order. I thought I'd settle for a low milage 790 R which was fairly local and would have saved me a ton of cash but someone beat me to it. Last night I thought I'd search again and to my surprise I found a used 890 R with under 2,000 miles. I fired off an Email saying don't sell untill I phone, I phoned just before the dealer was due to open and have secured myself the bike. The previous owner fitted fog lights, a centre stand, a lowered seat and heated grips. I'm having the tech pack enabled and the dealer is delivering free of charge. They say no date has been given for 2022 models and advise against taking deposits untill a clear delivery date is known. Thank you for your well informed videos, they helped me to make my mind up. All the best 👍 Michael
@@advnoobie6061 Thank you!! I'll finalise the deal next week, the previous owner had more road based tyres fitted along with the lower front mudguard, although the originals will also be supplied. I'm contemplating either having the Karoo 3's put back on or better still going with TKC's or Motoz Rallz. Also the lowered seat may not be very comfortable, I'm considering the heated version as it is supposedly comfortable and would offer my wife who will ride pillion, more comfort. I may as well spec it the way I want it now, rather than later, depending on availability. How did you find the OEM seat on your visit to your Mother's?

Another great review. What is the GPS you are using. Any reason for not buying the Zumo XT? Thanks

Great review and information. Watching on mobile and you're quite hard to understand with wind and engine noise.

I think if you had two different recordings for voice and outside helmet noise you could just amp up the voice volume and it would be perfect

Excellent. Beautiful road , A40 I think.
Correct. 10 points awarded to Mabs.
I own the 1290 Adventure S. I've been toying with switching to the 890 R. Good informational video.
