    Don't forget to keep ya core tight too. Activate the glutes and maintain abdominal rigidity to prevent excess lumbar extension.. dislocates aren't just good for shoulders but also bracing strength

    I do these literally every day. I usually use a climbing strap but sometimes a stiff rod (heh heh). I would definitely add to maintain a rigid, upright posture, because people often compensate by jutting their head or arching their back.
    But definitely one of my favorites. Great chest stretch, too. Also, I'm not a huge advocate of behind-the-neck exercises (OHP, lat pull-downs, pull-ups, etc.), but because I do dislocates every day, I have more than enough range of motion to perform them safely and comfortably. 😎

    No joke but this actually dislocates my shoulder. What do I do? I have dislocated several times throughout my life right now

      If you've had multiple dislocations in your life, you will need to be really careful with movements like these. You may be naturally hypermobile or have an old ligament tear or joint laxity from previous injuries, either way you'll want to be really mindful. If it was me I would try something less intense to begin with and only slowly build up. If I had always been hyper mobile I would focus on training joint stability with slow, nearly full range of motion exercises at a clearly controllable weight. (just keeping out of the hyper-mobile ranges to retrain yourself not to bear weight on the joints at such extremes ranges). Poke around the chest and shoulders too, might have a giant muscle knot that's been hanging around for years and messing up your shoulder function, it's happened to me in the past. Anyway I'm just thinking out loud, hope something in there is useful for you. Good luck my friend

      @@moversodysseythanks for the reply, I'm not hyper mobile but I surely have some undiscovered issue with my shoulder but how do i find it. It kinda makes me sad to lose alot of function this young because i used to be very active. But i refuse to think it's incurable because how did our ancestors manage shoulder dislocations while being incredibly active!? I was unable to even hang on a bar for months then it suddenly improved one day now i can hang but it's very easy to dislocate. I think it could be an alignment issue or nerve issue with all the modern postural compensations we go through? Thanks anyway for the insight I'll be slow and mindful, I have to find a fix someday hopefully!

      @@cerberez have you had it imaged through MRI since the dislocations? May be an AC ligament tear or something. Outside of that possibility it's also common to over stretch ligaments during joint dislocations and injury. Sometimes it's not torn but it's so loose now the joint slips out easily. Happen with bad ankle sprains a lot. Either way, ligaments can usually heal on there own but it literally takes years to get back to normal. If it's a ligament issue, then take just gently strengthen your range of motion on the regular and let your body tell you when it's time to progress. Some collagen and bromelain supplements would speed it up the healing. This recent blog post might help you figure your case out too... www.moversodyssey.com/post/scapular-mapping-the-easiest-way-to-address-shoulder-pain-and-dysfunction

      @@moversodysseymy fault that i did not do an MRI(and it costs too much), each time i had shoulder dislocations, i just deal with the frozen shoulder and pain for a week and it subsides. The recovery seems to be faster every subsequent dislocations. I guess my joint is too loose now but i have had a flat thoracic area for as long as i remember. Maybe it was from me trying to keep my shoulder blades back and spine straight. I thought it's how healthy posture is supposed to be. I recently discovered about the natural curvature of the spine but i don't know if my condition is congenital or not. I have rib flare and mild pectus excavatum as well. I'm trying to manage everything through exercises but i dont think it will go away because my thoracic area is very flat. My clavicles are also uneven as long as i remember. I may have been exercising and working through injury also but i just want my shoulders to become good so that I can continue to do all the activities that i used to do. Sprinting dislocates my shoulder now and it's embarassing also. Your link is not working but i managed to find the article easily by searching scapula on your site, i will try to take pics like advised and find out what's going on. Thanks so much.! Appreciate your help!

      @@moversodyssey it is a bankart lesion I did the MRI it's a labrum tear. Doctor says surgery is the only option, but I don't wanna get screws in my joint studies have shown they cause unacceptably high risk of arthritis long term. I have seen some UA-camrs who manages to fine with these tears I'm trying to learn from them do you have any suggestions? Also, I've been following for years but didn't notice you changed the name and started to post again! Hope things are fine over there.

    Doubt this will do much for most. Most will have it in the rhomboid area/shoulder blade area. What helped tremendously for me was Indian clubs as it taught my shoulders how to work together + activated those less used muscles.

    • @moversodyssey
      @moversodyssey  2 місяці тому +2

      It's usually better in that order, unless your already hyper mobile. Then it's best to do stability first.

    My shoulder dislocates very easily and has done since I was a child. doing dumbbell overhead raises a few days ago and half way though a rep my left shoulder popped out and I had experienced excruciating pain making me roll round on the floor of the gym screaming. Went hospital, I am waiting to find out what damage I’ve done as now it pops out all the time and i can’t lift it at all I don’t know what I’m gonna do and feel like I will always be left with mobility issues 😢

      @Davistdi 7 днів тому +1

      feel like it popped out the opposite way to the way it does usually which doesn’t normally cause me any pain(I think that’s because it happened in an injury and it probably tore something
      Hope there is some kind of scan they can do to truly get to the bottom of what’s wrong with it

    • @moversodyssey
      @moversodyssey  6 днів тому +2

      After you see what type of damage is done and you begin to heal, I would look into CARs (controlled articular rotations). They are easy on the joints and very good at rehabbing mobility and tightening up the joint when needed. Yielding isometric exercises would be another good idea. They are safe on the joints and help build up tendon strength. Best of luck my friend, I hope everything turns out well.

      @moversodyssey  Рік тому +12

      Could already be damage in the joint, but usually this means your humerus is not sitting in the joint properly. Usually from chronically tight muscles pulling it out of place. You can look up "pec minor tigger points" and try to self massage that spot. It's probably the most common muscle to cause those isues. Couple other common culprits are the subclavical muscle and the levator scapulae. Hope that helps out, best of luck my friend.
