Interesting not a word about sports.. one of our own was Pitching in the last 2 World Series.. several have played in the Super Bowl.. one in the NFL hall of fame.. many others in MLB and NFL . The high school had produced numerous state Champs in several sports... I'm nearly a 3rd generation Apopkan .. the city had changed.. it was a lot of fun growing up there... we have also had many musicians as well!!
Moved here in 2001,so quiet and no major traffic.Miss those days.Only good thing is my house value has gone up.I can rent it for a lot of money so I can live somewhere else.Yay
I just came to the comment section to see if I could find some familiar names lol. But I did also want to mention what a great job you did showcasing some of what Apopka has to offer. Its so funny having a random video recommended to me that not only mentions the town I was born, raised, and still currently live in, but also mentions my family. Pretty neat!
Pretty crazy that UA-cam algorithm!
@@kenpozek Haha. Sure is!
Hi Ken - thank you for bringing awareness to this area. The natural beauty is breathtaking. Enjoy today!
Thats why i moved from apopka 25 year ago i notice in the early 80s a bunch of northerners were moving there to central Florida a lot traffic and tomany people now
I prefer Hallandale beach Florida beautiful city good beaches and restaurants and growing businesses and communities, and good nightlife.❤
Soon I will move in apopka
Great Video Ken!!
I’ve a soft spot for Apopka as I stayed there for 2 weeks in August 1991. Best holiday ever. I’ve searched and searched for the Bungalow we stayed in on Google maps but just can’t find it. I know I’m in the right area but the memory has faded. I remember it was a short drive from the cinema on one of the main drags and there was lakes everywhere. I also remember walking down to a communal pool.
must be near wekiwa state park off of welch road
Its so beautiful though
People are complaining about building more around apopka, but there is a need for all the residents moving to the area. You simply cannot keep things the same. Some of the established areas are in need of renovation as well. As apopka grows, so will the homes that everyone lives in.
So fix the affected areas before cutting down wildlife! There is plenty of other areas in The Orlando metro area that are built up and need fixing as well. Go there! We as humans don’t learn, there is a balance to everything natural and we just keep knocking away at it to fit our needs as if we shouldn’t be the ones working to live with nature….
@Jamaal Christopher possibly so, but you have to question: Are those areas in worse condition than apopka? If you fix those areas, it will force lower class residents to live outside of them. Apopka just needs updating. Most of the trees, from what I've seen that are getting knocked down, are along toll road 414. I get it, though trees are needed to live, but with the new residences, they are implanting new ones.
I see the changes everyday and it breaks my heart to see the trees getting cut down and the overcrowding traffic..ughhhh
Same 💔
Ken what do you think of winter springs?
Hometown
Not any more, just wait till the Wyld Oaks project is over. The Project is three times of The Winter Garden and the Celebration, and the largest in Central Florida.
What do you think about Mt Dora? Just purchased a new build with Hanover in the upcoming phase 1 of Bargrove Estates.
Huge mount Dora fan. If I could find a lot facing the water I’d buy stat
What do you think about Wyld Oaks? It's going to be huge maybe too much?
Great overview. I live down the street from Toll Brothers ‘the oaks’. Moved here about 2 1/2 years ago. Coming from Kissimmee, where there was a ton to do, there really is not a lot of restaurants or stores w/in a 15 minute drive. That’s a drawback. But With that new retail space you brought up at the beginning of the video it looks like that ‘drawback’ may soon disappear! .
Can you make a video of employment sources please?
its oblivious Ken you don't live in Apopka, 35 minutes from airport? 18 min. to Mt Dora?
I've already stated that it takes me close to an hour to drive to the airport given the congestion on I-4. I opt to take 436 down to the airport instead even though I'm hitting traffic lights, but it's better than sitting in traffic on the I-4.
It takes 15 to 25 mins to get to downtown mt dora from Apopka depending on where you live and which way you go.. so 18 is somewhat an average
Bingo
It amazes me why new homes need to be 26 mm apart, I live on a 2 acre lot in Massachusetts and I plan on retiring to Central Fla. With endless land it just unreal.
Hi 👋 I very much enjoy your one on one city profile video (s) ! !
Thanks for watching’
Any changes or plans in the Pinehills area zip code (32808)?
If you look at what’s going on in the Princeton/Silvershar area, sort of the flowover from College Park, you’ll see that Pine Hills (while not under massive redevelopment) Is poised for growth in the future.
I have property at zip 32839 it s tough to collect rent from tenants planing to sell now
Don't you mean "Crime Hills"?
It looks very promising!
35 minutes to Orlando International Airport? If you own a helicopter yes, but with the traffic and congestion on the I-4 lately, it's close to an hour!
Are you walking to the airport? Never took me more than 30-40 mins even in morning rush hour times. So stop it.
@@eddiecruz9683 No I'm driving on the I4 from Apopka not far from Wekiva State Park. Traffic gets so bad that I often opt to take 436 (Semoran Blvd) instead all the way down to the airport.
Even in the 70s you couldn't make it to the airport in 35 mins.
Jump on your google maps or waze app. Test it out. Currently 37 minutes even with an accident on 429. Rush hour (heck hours) might make it more like 45-50, but I clocked it multiple times a throughout the day to come up with that number 🤷🏻♂️
I lived there in the 90s and it was never under 40 minutes to get to the airport.
Oh snap! I'm on the management team building the school at 1:56. And yes, the prices in the neighborhood right across the street already skyrocketed. There's a A
lot going on in Apopka right now. I still love Sanford though.
The last thing my city needs is more construction and new residential areas. How about we work to improve the city that already exists instead of just building more?
all thanks to new yorkers super lol
We bought a home 2 yrs ago in Sheeler Oaks.. I remember I didnt want to move to Apopka because it felt so far away from everything after living in the casselberry/Altamonte Springs but am 18 Min from Princeton and every week I find ways to go places..even Dr Phillips area that I normally wouldn't even consider driving to before. But am also disappointed in all the apartments that are being built.
@@MissGabriela829 every corner in central Florida now they are building apartments :( areas where it used to be so pretty with trees but they aren't building enough regular single family homes. They only want Apartment for rent but no condo/homes. Sanford/Lake Mary is being ruined. Winter Springs as well.
4:16 Holy cow! I’m gonna need a lot of mosquito spray if I go there!
The water is nice though
Sounds like there’s no water where you live.
Kelly Park now thats my kind of place! Lol
I don’t want to may more people to move here to apopka the schools are getting to crowded
They already are over crowded. Read it earlier this month online. New infrastructure is required.
The charter schools here have a long waiting list as is...it's not a new phenomenon.
With the Wekiva Parkway completion to I-4 near Sanford coming next year has me liking Apopka
Going to be huge!
Awesome video! It’s great that all those talking points you made show that investment here is dependent on your patience and awaiting of the vision of what gov’t and locals want their city to look like.
When I was scoping Toll Brothers Lakeshore years ago (missed that opportunity) for new construction there was literally nothing around you. It was barren. So the leap of faith was more based around proximity to Disney and it’s features. Now look at those prices today and the surrounding area!
Give this about five years or so and this place will be sprawling like the rest of Orlando. I feel this market fits the “Early bird gets the worm” category in terms of equity and future growth.
I hope that never happens. Barren? You mean green spaces right?
@@EFMM79 Nah it looked pretty barren then in that surrounding area. Not that green then. Now it’s beautiful and very sophisticated. Great investment for those that jumped on it. Shoutout to them!
Some friends of mine even suggested they may sell in Winter Garden because it’s becoming crowded compared to when they first moved in. Their quiet life expectations and quality of life are changing their feelings about it. To each their own though. :)
I install underground electrical lines in the new subdivisions in Apopka area and once the 429 expressway is completed there will be so many new developments coming up on that side of town. They're actually building alot now. More work for me.
Great insight! Thank you!!
Ooooooooo. K
I thought Apopka, had a high crime rate? Am I wrong?
South Apopka by Orlando is often in the news. City of Apopka is north of it.
You meant opalocka
The crime rate is low in Apopka except for one certain area in South Apopka
We don’t want more people moving here go live in the city
Agreed...keep that urbanization crap in Orlando!
Now if only we could get some affordable housing instead of these huge companies buying out massive parcels and selling nearly half a million dollar homes.
Pushing out the people who have lived here all their lives as a respite from Orlando inflation
Cross the wrong part of the hood in Apopka and learn about that Southern Charm really quick. You forgot the part where you drive fast and don't stop at the crossings where you hear Waka Flocka music loudly and it stinks of marihuana very strongly. I can't agree with your assessment of Apopka based on my personal experience. Move here at your own risk.
That's one small area of Apopka the rest is very nice Bear Lake Area Rock Springs everywhere is good except that one small area
Forgot about the gangs bud 💀
We don't need MORE people. We need LESS. ffs 😓🤬
Stop telling our business 😒 we don't want all those people here. Dang
Facts
That's what I was thinking lol. He did a little too good of a job talking about Apopka.
Yeah , you don't own this earth.
It's the Indoor Foliage Capital of the World" not greenhouse capital. I live in Apopka
It's too bad soo many have disappeared over the last 20 yrs.
now we know the J in J. Michael stands for Justin.
Haha actually there a j Michael and a Justin. J&J
Don't go to South Apopka
Breaks my heart to see my hometown and home get built up with so much ticky tacky communities. All the mom and pop nurseries have been bought or forced out. All the orange groves are gone all the green spaces. The nature he is talking about is almost gone. Downtown Apopka is so crowded, 441 is slow going. Go away.
Yep, I've said it a million times.
Im 27 and lived in Apopka my whole life, I AGREE.
That's true gospel
I thought apopka was ghetto
it is in south apopka, guy didn't record any of it
Take this video down and leave Apopka alone…… let those people move elsewhere….. this is the last natural diamond in the rough of the Orlando area!
What you mean
@@lg5lime33 majority of the Orlando metro area is over developed so much traffic, all the forested areas cut down… Apopka is that last piece that still looks real country. It’s refreshing. It’s where I personally go to just get away from the city to unwind. I don’t live there (I’m about 15-20 mins away) and respect it’s residents.
@@La8mode oh ok yea I feel you. I completely understand you now. You’re right I live here in south apopka from here also. Haved lived in Orlando multiple times as well. Even here in apopka they are cutting down a lot of forested areas 🌳 and building up new stuff
I agree!!!
LOL 😂 I thought I only felt this way. Now that I’m an Apopkan I don’t want anyone else to know how nice it is out here
"All the shcity people gonna come to our town and spread the shcity ways with there shcity kids"
"If theres one thing shcity people hate its other shcity people, there gonna move from there shcitys and turn our town into a shcity town and they there gonna leave"-southpark
Cutting down trees to build cookie cutter tract houses on small lots is disgusting.
INCREDIBLY selective footage and very incorrect information about travel times. Please do not move to Apopka unless you want your descendants to live in a cramped city. Better yet, don't move here at all. The congestion is horrible and became so years ago.
