    I’ve hiked a few miles of these super sketch levy trails during nesting season and the gators seemed to busy to see me. Today I hiked some trail the map wasn’t familiar with and found out about the level of gators in such a short distance. Gators are an everyday thing for me. Lake doctor is my trade. I seriously questioned my choices in taking this path but pushed through knowing the trail ahead was high and dry and likely held less stress.
    Moral of the story is stay on the marked trails. Respect nature.

    There is a spring in Volusia County (Daytona Beach is in this county) that we used to go swimming there. We have seen gators on the shore there without any issues and at times manatees were there but on the other side of the spring. I live in New Smyrna and we have a lot of ponds and I’m surprised no gators but so many awesome birds and some are 3-4 feet tall (sandhill cranes). We also have anhingas and they will sunbathe with their wings out for a few hours even. They are master divers. They are here in our ponds as well as egrets, lots of ducks (we now have about 30 new ducklings), hawks, eagles, geese, blue herons (look similar to the sandhill cranes), ibises (may be 30 or more at once), turtles, raccoons, and more.

      The gators don't pay much attention to people, thankfully. The birds are amazing. So many different kinds in one place. Incredible.

    Cool ride. Haven’t heard of this one but we haven’t done any real exploring in Florida...if it’s not a theme park with a mouse..we don’t recognize it. Gotta change that!

      Lots of incredible wildlife and nature filled activities to do in Florida! Lake Apopka is free and would be a blast to see hanging out in the bed of a truck with snacks and a cooler full of drinks 😎

    I was there today with my son and we saw some kind of cat reminiscent to a lion without the fur...
    A year ago I spot a black bear close to the chemical plant next to the scenic road.

    I've done my car several times .. i live 10 minutes away, at most .. on a bike, did you ride 11 miles up and 11 miles back? Or just halfway?

    • @SOSASATSUNRISE
      @SOSASATSUNRISE  2 роки тому +1

      Our ride was only the 11 miles one way. We were lucky enough to get dropped off at one entrance and get picked up on the other side. Thanks for watching!

    When we did that a few years back and it was all fun and good. But I did have a nightmare about being ganged up by a bunch of gators a few nights later..lol! Still remember that dream like it was yesterday! Never again😅

    Am about to become a Florida resident this year. Can anyone educate me on gators? Are they typically shy or aggressive? Do they crave and/or hunt humans regularly?

    • @magiccheeseball
      @magiccheeseball 2 роки тому

      You'll be fine as long as you don't get out of your car but you'll die of a heat stroke before the Gators get you anyway

    • @tk.8584
      @tk.8584 Рік тому +1

      Don’t bother them and they won’t bother you! Simple. Oh and at least every body of water here has at least one or two gators in them. Including the man made ones. But you’ll encounter more lizards then alligator honestly. They will get into your home or apartment here and there but very harmless and so small and cute. We just catch them (if we can) and bring them right back outside.
