I’ve got a 2022 Sierra Denali with 10,900 miles that’s been at the dealer for almost 2 months with a transmission failure. Why 2 months? Because they’ve been trying to duct tape it back together to keep from safely repairing it or replacing the vehicle. Stay away from GMC. There’s a reason that they have a weak 3/36,000 mile warranty.
You should consider enacting Lemon Law. You could potentially land yourself a brand new truck legally. By law new vehicles aren't supposed to experience any significant issues or spend any significant time in the shop.
Every vehicle manufacturer has a 3 year/36000 mile warranty. That's the bumper to bumper warranty. This truck has a 5 year/60,000 mile POWERTRAIN warranty, which is also industry standard, including over at Toyota and Honda. Are you a bot or just r***rded?

Well, Car and Driver should stay with cars and not trucks. Literally mechanics but IMO, I'd take the GMC bc I like the interior for its higher-looking quality. I'm retired so I don't need a work looking truck.
Every Chevy I’ve owned always had sensor problems, belts and gear replacements before getting to 100k miles. My buddies with GMCs drove theirs to 175k and never had major issues..

The Denali/Denali Ultimate has nice seats and a couple little tweaks with the door cards, but the price difference is significant vs the LTZ/High Country trims.

In fact, there are videos showing the GM half-ton truck plant in Indiana and they will sometimes have both Chevy and GMC trucks being built on the same line on the same day lol.
I own the 2023 GMC Sierra AT4 and this is an amazing truck! I find this post to be unnecessarily biased in its criticism. The Duramax engine gets exceptional gas milage with hefty low end torque! You will not be disappointed with this choice and it is well worth the upgraded price over the Silverodo.
The GMC Sierra is by far and away the best looking truck and it even isn’t close. And therefore worth the additional cost. The refreshed interior with the bigger display screen rivals Ford. While the Dodge interior looks like it came out of a Tesla. No thank you. The Hemi engine in the Dodge is a gas guzzler and the Ford with its turbo V6 has had multiple issues and failures. I’m quite happy with my GMC Sierra.
So you'll pay 90k for a GMC AT 4 over the Chevy ZR2. When the ZR2 is exactly the same. GMC isn't better than any other Truck in same class out there. You have to make believe you're a better person having a GMC truck. Vanity is your problem.

I built one of each when I bought my new truck and the ZR2 with the same exact options as the AT4 was about 12k more. If you’re paying anything north of 75 for a AT4 then you need to find a new car dealer.

Ford quality issues for the new 2024 are concerning and they should be addressed. I do agree with issues about the HD issues for the 2024 gm truck also I owned both brands I have driven all of the big 3 I love the comfort from the gm trucks but I wouldn't pay the stupid high price for a new truck I will wait a few years and look for a low mileage example.

Wouldn’t compare it to the raptor… different use and much different price tag. The raptor is around 100k . Compare it to the F150 line I have a 24 Chevy HD duramax with the midnight edition. I picked it over the GMC because I like the Chevy look better! That’s what’s great about this country.. we have choices!

It's one of the things that impressed me since I was expecting it to drive like a truck (as it is one). Some of the other points you made were also wrong or sounds like you've never been in one. Got the premium 3.0 Durmax 1500 then went and lifted it and now it gets good gas milage and is a beast of road .This video is off IMO and I wouldnt buy a Ram if you paid me lol haha. Truck rides amazing and 100k mile warranty works for me.
I bought one as well. I have the Elevation package. The only things I do not like about it was I thought it had adaptive cruise like my last two vehicles but for GMC it seems that is yet another addition that you have to know about (and my dealer did not tell me). I got REALLY used to having adaptive driving and damn near hit the back end of a car on I35 !!! The fuel mileage is wonderful for a fossil fuel truck. Love that 3.0 diesel. Very comfortable truck. Already drove it from Dallas to Big Bend for vacation. Hope i feel as good about the truck in three years when i will likely see about buying a plug in hybrid pickup....maybe.

My first truck ever was a 2016 Sierra 1500 SLE, I was in love with the body, my neighbor at that time had a 2019 Denali he let me drive around the corner and I fell in love all over again. So I traded flat 2016 for a 2019 Sierra 1500 SLT with a sunroof and I was a happy camper till they refreshed the interior with the newer screen and new shifter. So I traded my 2019 in for a 2022 GMC sierra 1500 diesel. One day I worked with a client and he left me his 2022 Ram 1500 longhorn and it was perfect interior and setup. So 2 months ago I traded mine in again for a 2023 Ram 1500 Limited Elite with panoramic roof and indigo sand interior. So far I love Ram interior better and cabin size more but I Love GMC exterior more than any truck. I wish I could build my own😂😂

Their are differences in materials and options. Gmc has for example more sound dampening material. As well gmc offers more options with their vehicles that as a result adds weight which is why it would then have a lower tow rating. As for raptor comparison only the TRX is actually a comparison. The AT4 is more of a tremor comparison.
I always thought that GMC was a lot more expensive version of Chevy. But even building them on the websites the GMC's seem to have more straightforward build options and come out with better prices for what you get. The elevation is a very good value to get one of the best looking half-ton trucks out there with a lot of features including best in class camera systems and fuel economy with the 3.0 diesel.
I own a 2024 GMC Sierra SLT Premium Package Maximum Tow, though I cannot attest to the recall information, this video seems way off. My Sierra's ride is amazing. I would disagree with all of this video, again, I haven't seen the issues, I hope I never will

I had 2 silverados over the last few years, my most recent i went with the Sierra, actually got a better deal then what they were asking for the silverado... and the GMC looks, feels, and drives better than both of my silverados. And i had the 5.3 in both of them! Id actually prefer the 4 cylinder.
The mag ride suspension on the Denali, and Ultimate trim levels is easily the best riding experience over ANY truck in the market hands down. That coupled with super cruise and no other truck can beat it.
So for all who won't pay these current prices...what are you buying if you need a HD? Toyota doesmt make one and you couldn't give me a new Tundra. Ram with their cylinder declination is a joke on a HD. We test drove a 2024 Silverado HD Z71 and a 2024 GMC AT4 in the same day. GMC is hands down higher quality. We told the sales rep for the Chevrolet these arent worth over $50k now. It looks like they used child's scissors to cut the floor mats. The Chevrolet (gas 6.6) was louder than than the GMC AT4 6.6 Duramax. We were shocked at how much better the GMC drove, handled, even the sharp turning radius. We are going to take our chance on a 2024 GMC Denali (used 5k). Addressing oil coolant before signing on the line. Ford has too many engine failures and is just ugly, Ram and their cyclinder reduction is not an option and their grill's are ugly, and Chevrolet is sadly declined on quality to what I would consider is now a chinese knockoff of GMC.
Well read most of these comments and the votes seem to favor non of the above. So Im going out on the limb and going with GMC because TO ME it seems like a built better truck. I will say it's like a high end truck compare to all the other brand trucks out there. Going with Sierra 1500 5.3 liter and 10 speed transmission . Wish me luck!!!
Who produced this video? Someone from one of GM’s competitors? My 2016 Sierra Denali, with the 6.2 litre engine, is a tremendous truck and had run superb.
At my price point, looking at both Chevy and GMC, and being a mostly Chevy guy, the value for me was in the GMC AT4. Got ALL the options I wanted without going to the upper levels of Chevy's costlier trucks. I've found that to be true in other Chevy vs GMC product lines. Just depends on what options you want I guess. Models and configurations are seemingly endless.
I'm doing my research as I'm getting a new truck (after my 2021 tacoma with 23k miles on it broke down) and was eying the 2024 Sierra. every other video is "X reasons to get it" and "X reasons to avoid it" I spent HOURS over a couple of months researching when I got my tacoma. I don't want to go through this again!!!
I wouldn’t take a Dodge for free. Transmission issues are a common problem in dodge trucks. I just purchased a GMC HD 3500 diesel and love it. The Duramax diesel and Allison transmission are proven workhorses. Love the large HUD and infotainment system.,Easy to use and functional.
I had a choice between two brand new 1500's at the same dealership. One was a Sierra and the other a Silverado. Both were the same color. One was Slt the other a High Country. Different trim levels, yes, but about the same. Bought the Silverado at a lesser price because the Sierra just has a expensive brand name on it, and the rims were ugly. I wasn't upgrading those rims for 3k more. Both trucks do look good but the price will determine the end factor.

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD extended cab with the LLY Duramax Diesel. In twenty years, I've only put 122,500 miles on it. The engine is just now broken in. I've never had any trouble with it outside a new master cylinder last year. I'd say I got pretty good value for my money. If I ever buy another truck, it'll for damned sure be another GMC.
All trucks are expensive now. Look at a Colorado or even the little Maverick. It’s insane what they want for a new truck in any class these days. Yes you get a truck but they charge as much as luxury cars and still don’t match up the quality of them.
A High Country doesn’t have as much standard equipment. Equip it the same way, there pretty close. The GMC looks better and almost always has expect 1984.
Why didn't GM NOT use the 4.3L (262 CID) in the PRO 1500 SWB and LWB trucks? I purchased a 1986 C-10 (1500) LWB with the 4.3L (262 CID) with the only option, a 35-gallon aux tank. I was able to drive 1,100 highway miles between fillups. I've been watching UA-cam/reading posts of mechanics stating reoccurring problems (DFM/AFM) with GM's power plants 2.7L (165 CID), 5.3L (323 CID), and 6.2L (403 CID). There are only two solid GM engines, the 4.3L (262 CID) and 6.6L (403 CID). My first used truck was a 1963 I6 270 CID (4.4L) with a 4-speed stick shift LWB that I bought from the original owner in 1982. Additionally, I owned a 1988 Chevy S-10 2.5L (153 CID) 2WD SWB. So, until GM gets their act together, I'm considering a GMC SIERRA 2500 HD 6.6L (403 CID) SLE 2WD CCAB LWB or Savana 3500 Extended Passenger Van 6.6L (403 CID). The main reasons are the 6.6L (403 CID) is old-school tech, meaning no auto start-stop; dynamic cylinder deactivation; and either vehicles can tow 10,000 lbs trailers. The Savana has a slight edge over the Sierra carry family members and two Large DOG crates. As a Senior, I require a vehicle with safety features to assist me in driving on blacktop roads in Georgia.
I won’t buy any GM vehicle again. If you don’t agree to Onstar terms and conditions, GM will display a warning messgae on the radio screen every time you start the car. They instruct their dealer not to disable this warning unless the owner agrees to sign up for onstar. Onstar should have gone away when cell phones became popular, just like the phones that used to be on airplanes. But onstar kicks back enough money to GM that they now must use coercion in their business model.
I feel you've missed the most important part, reliability. Why does my 6.2 Denali have transmission issues at 55000KM ? Why isn't GM adressing the VVT/AFM issues costing owners thousands of dollars? At the cost of these beasts, they have to last much longer with less problems. After owning several GMC Sierras since 2004, this one is my last. TOYOTA, here I come.

Been searching for a 3500 srw for a few months, everyone wants north of 84k w/o all the fees. Found one in Texas for 80k w/sunroof. Exactly what I wanted but I don't want a sunroof. Asked dealer I want to build exact truck but w/o sunroof, he said 84k and that's the price. I just saw a video on gmc trucks where the roofs are splitting apart, and that's w/o the sunroof. No f-----g way I will buy a gmc now. The big 3 are out of their f-----g minds, bodies and souls. And I always hated sunroofs.
Why are you comparing a sierra to a raptor? They’re 2 completely different vehicles. GM doesn’t make a competitor to a raptor. The At4 is not a competitor to a raptor. It’s a competitor to a Rebel. A trx is a competitor to a raptor. So that’s like saying don’t buy a Toyota Corolla because it’s not a S55 Mercedes. They are not in the same tier of vehicle.
I own 1994 and 2015 2500 gmcs and 1999 c 7500 topkick pulling a backhoe on the bunnies and they work fine untill today jjust replaced AC also have a 1983 chevy k30 .. 1984 , 3500 , 2000 2500 chevy and 2014 silverado .. the only failng is 2014 silverado replace all except engine .. so what this talking about is BS
This is a classic click bait BS video. Comparing any pickup to the single-focus Raptor is unfair and just plain silly. The Elevation series Sierra got completely ignored and has a good combination of features and relative value for money. Yes, the Silverado is slightly less expensive, but some are willing to pay for the different and arguably better styling cues of the Sierra. With the variety of available powertrains and transmissions, the GMC Sierra is a pretty good truck.
Owned three Silverado HDs, I’m done with GM, insanely expensive to replace my truck, bought a 23 Tundra limited TRD Pro package, Love the truck “ so far”, only 2700 miles so jury is still out, but 👍right now

Im looking at 2016-2018 yukon and they come w afm/dod. The lifter issue is concerning to me but the cost of parts and service is cheaper than other brands. Still on the fence.

Honestly this guy seems lost. The 1500 sierra Denali with the options I wanted was 80k and the 1500 high country was 77k…not sure where he got the 64k? Honestly the you can build the same truck from both brands and the GMC will always be about 2k more than the Chevy. Chevy does have more options but the comparable counter part is always close in price.

I test drove a 2024 GMC Sierra with the AT4 package yesterday and I found it to drive very smooth and it handled well. By far the best looking full size pickup in the market. Your review is baseless in my opinion.

It's one of the things that impressed me since I was expecting it to drive like a truck (as it is one). Some of the other points you made were also wrong or sounds like you've never been in one. Got the premium 3.0 Durmax 1500 then went and lifted it and now it gets good gas milage and is a beast of road .This video is off IMO and I wouldnt buy a Ram if you paid me lol haha. Truck rides amazing and 100k mile warranty works for me.
I bought one as well. I have the Elevation package. The only things I do not like about it was I thought it had adaptive cruise like my last two vehicles but for GMC it seems that is yet another addition that you have to know about (and my dealer did not tell me). I got REALLY used to having adaptive driving and damn near hit the back end of a car on I35 !!! The fuel mileage is wonderful for a fossil fuel truck. Love that 3.0 diesel. Very comfortable truck. Already drove it from Dallas to Big Bend for vacation. Hope i feel as good about the truck in three years when i will likely see about buying a plug in hybrid pickup....maybe.

My first truck ever was a 2016 Sierra 1500 SLE, I was in love with the body, my neighbor at that time had a 2019 Denali he let me drive around the corner and I fell in love all over again. So I traded flat 2016 for a 2019 Sierra 1500 SLT with a sunroof and I was a happy camper till they refreshed the interior with the newer screen and new shifter. So I traded my 2019 in for a 2022 GMC sierra 1500 diesel. One day I worked with a client and he left me his 2022 Ram 1500 longhorn and it was perfect interior and setup. So 2 months ago I traded mine in again for a 2023 Ram 1500 Limited Elite with panoramic roof and indigo sand interior. So far I love Ram interior better and cabin size more but I Love GMC exterior more than any truck. I wish I could build my own😂😂

Their are differences in materials and options. Gmc has for example more sound dampening material. As well gmc offers more options with their vehicles that as a result adds weight which is why it would then have a lower tow rating.
As for raptor comparison only the TRX is actually a comparison. The AT4 is more of a tremor comparison.
I always thought that GMC was a lot more expensive version of Chevy. But even building them on the websites the GMC's seem to have more straightforward build options and come out with better prices for what you get. The elevation is a very good value to get one of the best looking half-ton trucks out there with a lot of features including best in class camera systems and fuel economy with the 3.0 diesel.
I own a 2024 GMC Sierra SLT Premium Package Maximum Tow, though I cannot attest to the recall information, this video seems way off. My Sierra's ride is amazing. I would disagree with all of this video, again, I haven't seen the issues, I hope I never will

I had 2 silverados over the last few years, my most recent i went with the Sierra, actually got a better deal then what they were asking for the silverado... and the GMC looks, feels, and drives better than both of my silverados. And i had the 5.3 in both of them! Id actually prefer the 4 cylinder.
I love the Denali, but I didn’t have 80K to spend on one. So I settled for the TrailBoss and couldn’t be happier.

The mag ride suspension on the Denali, and Ultimate trim levels is easily the best riding experience over ANY truck in the market hands down. That coupled with super cruise and no other truck can beat it.
So for all who won't pay these current prices...what are you buying if you need a HD? Toyota doesmt make one and you couldn't give me a new Tundra. Ram with their cylinder declination is a joke on a HD. We test drove a 2024 Silverado HD Z71 and a 2024 GMC AT4 in the same day. GMC is hands down higher quality. We told the sales rep for the Chevrolet these arent worth over $50k now. It looks like they used child's scissors to cut the floor mats. The Chevrolet (gas 6.6) was louder than than the GMC AT4 6.6 Duramax. We were shocked at how much better the GMC drove, handled, even the sharp turning radius. We are going to take our chance on a 2024 GMC Denali (used 5k). Addressing oil coolant before signing on the line. Ford has too many engine failures and is just ugly, Ram and their cyclinder reduction is not an option and their grill's are ugly, and Chevrolet is sadly declined on quality to what I would consider is now a chinese knockoff of GMC.
Well read most of these comments and the votes seem to favor non of the above. So Im going out on the limb and going with GMC because TO ME it seems like a built better truck. I will say it's like a high end truck compare to all the other brand trucks out there. Going with Sierra 1500 5.3 liter and 10 speed transmission . Wish me luck!!!
I work at Chevrolet by the airport. Trust me you don't want a 2023 or 2024 Silverado. We are constantly reparing the transmission under warranty. Lol

At my price point, looking at both Chevy and GMC, and being a mostly Chevy guy, the value for me was in the GMC AT4. Got ALL the options I wanted without going to the upper levels of Chevy's costlier trucks. I've found that to be true in other Chevy vs GMC product lines. Just depends on what options you want I guess. Models and configurations are seemingly endless.
I'm doing my research as I'm getting a new truck (after my 2021 tacoma with 23k miles on it broke down) and was eying the 2024 Sierra. every other video is "X reasons to get it" and "X reasons to avoid it"

I wouldn’t take a Dodge for free. Transmission issues are a common problem in dodge trucks. I just purchased a GMC HD 3500 diesel and love it. The Duramax diesel and Allison transmission are proven workhorses.
Love the large HUD and infotainment system.,Easy to use and functional.
I had a choice between two brand new 1500's at the same dealership. One was a Sierra and the other a Silverado. Both were the same color. One was Slt the other a High Country. Different trim levels, yes, but about the same. Bought the Silverado at a lesser price because the Sierra just has a expensive brand name on it, and the rims were ugly. I wasn't upgrading those rims for 3k more. Both trucks do look good but the price will determine the end factor.

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD extended cab with the LLY Duramax Diesel. In twenty years, I've only put 122,500 miles on it. The engine is just now broken in. I've never had any trouble with it outside a new master cylinder last year. I'd say I got pretty good value for my money. If I ever buy another truck, it'll for damned sure be another GMC.

All trucks are expensive now. Look at a Colorado or even the little Maverick. It’s insane what they want for a new truck in any class these days. Yes you get a truck but they charge as much as luxury cars and still don’t match up the quality of them.

A High Country doesn’t have as much standard equipment. Equip it the same way, there pretty close. The GMC looks better and almost always has expect 1984.
Why didn't GM NOT use the 4.3L (262 CID) in the PRO 1500 SWB and LWB trucks? I purchased a 1986 C-10 (1500) LWB with the 4.3L (262 CID) with the only option, a 35-gallon aux tank. I was able to drive 1,100 highway miles between fillups. I've been watching UA-cam/reading posts of mechanics stating reoccurring problems (DFM/AFM) with GM's power plants 2.7L (165 CID), 5.3L (323 CID), and 6.2L (403 CID). There are only two solid GM engines, the 4.3L (262 CID) and 6.6L (403 CID). My first used truck was a 1963 I6 270 CID (4.4L) with a 4-speed stick shift LWB that I bought from the original owner in 1982. Additionally, I owned a 1988 Chevy S-10 2.5L (153 CID) 2WD SWB. So, until GM gets their act together, I'm considering a GMC SIERRA 2500 HD 6.6L (403 CID) SLE 2WD CCAB LWB or Savana 3500 Extended Passenger Van 6.6L (403 CID). The main reasons are the 6.6L (403 CID) is old-school tech, meaning no auto start-stop; dynamic cylinder deactivation; and either vehicles can tow 10,000 lbs trailers. The Savana has a slight edge over the Sierra carry family members and two Large DOG crates. As a Senior, I require a vehicle with safety features to assist me in driving on blacktop roads in Georgia.
I won’t buy any GM vehicle again. If you don’t agree to Onstar terms and conditions, GM will display a warning messgae on the radio screen every time you start the car. They instruct their dealer not to disable this warning unless the owner agrees to sign up for onstar. Onstar should have gone away when cell phones became popular, just like the phones that used to be on airplanes. But onstar kicks back enough money to GM that they now must use coercion in their business model.
I feel you've missed the most important part, reliability. Why does my 6.2 Denali have transmission issues at 55000KM ? Why isn't GM adressing the VVT/AFM issues costing owners thousands of dollars? At the cost of these beasts, they have to last much longer with less problems. After owning several GMC Sierras since 2004, this one is my last. TOYOTA, here I come.

honestly I have had both but chevy can't beat the 6.2 power I know have had my 2022 Sierra for 2 years and I cannot complain and I used it every day and put miles in it for my restaurant delivery
Personally don’t love the Chevy headlight design for the current gen. They look very squished for a full size truck. Still like the Chevy a lot tho.

Been searching for a 3500 srw for a few months, everyone wants north of 84k w/o all the fees. Found one in Texas for 80k w/sunroof. Exactly what I wanted but I don't want a sunroof. Asked dealer I want to build exact truck but w/o sunroof, he said 84k and that's the price. I just saw a video on gmc trucks where the roofs are splitting apart, and that's w/o the sunroof. No f-----g way I will buy a gmc now. The big 3 are out of their f-----g minds, bodies and souls.
And I always hated sunroofs.
Why are you comparing a sierra to a raptor? They’re 2 completely different vehicles. GM doesn’t make a competitor to a raptor. The At4 is not a competitor to a raptor. It’s a competitor to a Rebel. A trx is a competitor to a raptor. So that’s like saying don’t buy a Toyota Corolla because it’s not a S55 Mercedes. They are not in the same tier of vehicle.

I own 1994 and 2015 2500 gmcs and 1999 c 7500 topkick pulling a backhoe on the bunnies and they work fine untill today jjust replaced AC also have a 1983 chevy k30 .. 1984 , 3500 , 2000 2500 chevy and 2014 silverado .. the only failng is 2014 silverado replace all except engine .. so what this talking about is BS
This is a classic click bait BS video. Comparing any pickup to the single-focus Raptor is unfair and just plain silly. The Elevation series Sierra got completely ignored and has a good combination of features and relative value for money. Yes, the Silverado is slightly less expensive, but some are willing to pay for the different and arguably better styling cues of the Sierra. With the variety of available powertrains and transmissions, the GMC Sierra is a pretty good truck.
Owned three Silverado HDs, I’m done with GM, insanely expensive to replace my truck, bought a 23 Tundra limited TRD Pro package, Love the truck “ so far”, only 2700 miles so jury is still out, but 👍right now

Why would you compare a regular sierra to a raptor, clearly they’re not competitors, if you’re going to compare a raptor to anything on the sierra line compare it to the AT4X and the raptor is still more expensive.
Here in Alberta the ZR2 is 2-3k more expensive than the sierra at4 the dealers have gone nuts here
That chevy front end🥴. The GMC’s across all years-winner. The biggest thing that i don’t like is the AFM. I have an older Yukon(2005) with the vortec. Im looking at 2016-2018 yukon and they come w afm/dod. The lifter issue is concerning to me but the cost of parts and service is cheaper than other brands. Still on the fence.

This seems biased to the Ram. But the brakes do feel strange to me. The brake pedal is high and travels a lot to stop the truck. I still like my 24' 2500 AT4

Raise the body off the frame and they are the same! If one has a problem they both do and visa versa. The badge on the grill does not mean different truck! And why are they comparing its capabilities to a Raptor? They aren’t designed to compete with the Raptor!
The Raptor was specifically made as a specialized sport truck, GMC doesn't really have anything in that cateogory.

Honestly this guy seems lost. The 1500 sierra Denali with the options I wanted was 80k and the 1500 high country was 77k…not sure where he got the 64k? Honestly the you can build the same truck from both brands and the GMC will always be about 2k more than the Chevy. Chevy does have more options but the comparable counter part is always close in price.
