Hi there. My 2014 ford focus se was fine. I’ve had it since 17, brought it used when 17k miles in it and now it has 82,600. It has shuddered before occasionally from a stop and even jerked occasionally when accelerating from stop . It started jerking really badly two nights ago. No issues going in reverse , yet at least. I had it towed to dealership, and I was expecting the extended service warranty to cover it but they diagnosed it as the clutch and that warranty expired in 2021, so convenient for Ford. Dealership quoted me 3500 dollars to fix it, which is more than it’s worth. I’m no mechanic and never did any of my own repairs but this is making me think about it. It doesn’t look THAT difficult but still intimidating to a novice. I feel like Ford and the dealership are trying to rip me off. I mentioned maybe trading it in for a newer vehicle and I’m getting non stop calls and texts now lol Based on everything i just said, does it sound like simply the actuators to you? I’m going to go pick up the car and bring it home in a bit (kind of scared to drive it now). Shouid I ask them what code came up? I wonder if they offer that information
It could be that, or if you look at my other video, you could have a dirty throttlebody you might wanna clean the throttlebody to make sure that at idle it’s getting enough air.
The shuttering could be a few things like throttle body is dirty as well as when was the last time you did your spark plugs?? Sounds like it could use a good cleaning and tune up. The actuators would be more missing or slipping shifts and not going into gears
I have the symptoms of the actuators slipping sometimes and skipping gears I already order the actuators A & B the crazy thing that gets me to think is it only does it for a bit than it runs fine I reverse works fine but sometimes going forward takes few seconds to move you think the actuators are going bad? I am mechanically inclined but my question ❓ do you have reset the transmission and programmed to drive again and I now there's a sequence?
Could be actuators but it could also be the clutch forks not sliding properly due to a build up of dust and crud . There are other videos on Utube that show how to clean these without taking the gearbox out !
I replaced my actuators about 2 weeks and yes my friend they don't need to be programmed at all I got all that information from a Ford technician but I did recur to clean the actuators housing and that help a lot I haven't had a major issue ever since. Sometimes but is really rare
I am getting code P07A5 after replacing both the actuators a month ago and having a new TCM installed. I removed actuator B and went to test the clutch fork and it does not wind up counterclockwise and I can also turn it clockwise easily. I believe the entire clutch is broken inside. Does this sound accurate? Does the transmission need to be removed?
I have a 2014 ford focus se and after almost 10 years of no issues and me being the only owner I was accelerating at a red light and the check engine light came on. Then shifting from 1st to 2nd the car kinda stalled and jerked before it changed gears. When I hooked it to a computer it gave me the code P0903 which is commonly the clutch actuators. But it could also be the PCM or TCM it says. Should I go ahead and replace these or just take it to a shop?
It’s the Clutch actuators !! Just do this before confirming , does it reverse ? , do it drive forward in Drive ? , but the most ultimate thing to check if it’s not TCM or transmission inside , u get in the car put the key turn car don’t turn car on and u press brake down u hear a click on each shift from P-L and then it’s confirmed a bad Actuator dealerships will lie say it needs a new tranny
I got a 2015 Ford focus as well and the other day i was driving and all the sudden i tried to accelerate and my RPM’s reved way up and i wasn’t going anywhere. Had a diagnostic and the code came back as “p090c”. My car still changes gear and goes in reverse though. I googled the code and it says my clutch actuator B is low circuit. Ford is trying to screw me and say my extended warranty expired since it has 130k miles on it even though I’ve had my transmission recalled. What should i do? I was reading that possibly it’s my TCM?? Idk man i need help it’s my only car and I’m really not in a position to pay a ton of money for it to be fixxed. Any advice?? Should i try to do what you just showed in the video?? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks
@@ghostlyrich alright will do i got 1 coming tomorrow but i guess i should go ahead and just replace both of em while I’m at it. The “B actuator” is the one located underneath the vehicle, correct?
@@mitchhake4116 no it didn’t. I changed out both actuators and it worked for a few days then same problem happened. I’m goin to replace the TCM later this week and if that doesn’t work I’m going to have to sell it smh
Did you ever figure it out? I have two new actuators on the way. I first tried to clean the orginals, it worked for about 20 minutes, and then it started slipping again and couldn't put it in reverse. I'm hoping two new ones will fix it butt I'm worried it may be more than just that. Sometimes it works if the car has been sitting for a little then when I start driving for a bit it will start ti act up.
Its had to find out the correct info when people call Actuator A the top one and actuator B the button one and vice versa, so who is correct? I having issue with code P0902 on 2016 for focus SE, I changed the top one and still having the same problem like before,
Codes will appear it the actuator gets stuck or if it goes out I’m guess 2 codes per actuator mines was (A) the code was p07A3 transmission friction stuck I’m guess the actuator probably still good just the fork track is covered in clutch dust causing the actuator to not move on the track for the computer to select the proper gears
Only difference is the computer that plugs into the actuator has its own separate ways on how it changes the gears but part numbers I noticed was the same
Are you able to share the Amazon link for the piece you purchased? When I did a search including year make and model one of the first ones was only $66. Just wanna make sure I’m getting the right part.
