Barbara…I do love the stories that go along with your journals. You have quite an amazing imagination. Your journal is looking beautifully vintage. I love it. ❤😊
Beautiful journal Barbara as always, thank you for the inspiration and the stories you create for the characters are most interesting . Gives the journal a whole new dimension. Take care and stay blessed.❤
Dear Barbara I've enjoyed every minute of all these videos & have been making along with you & the results are stunning.I can't wait for number 8.Hope it comes soon.
Really turning out so cool!! I like how dark it is too! I think the sisters also catch hell about their art not being girly enough, not pink & frilly enough. But they're determined to be true to what they really feel! TFS Barbara! ❤❤
Im going to be sad when you finish it. I'm enjoying the unfolding of this journal along with the stories you make up to go with it. It just brings it to life. I really don't know how you do it. I get so much inspiration from your videos for my own journals. Can't wait for Dephemerember 😊💙💛
Oh my word Barbara, this was such an enjoyable 20 minutes. I could create journals along with you all day, listening to you telling us about the life of these ladies. 😀 😀. Thank you ❣
I love how you weave such lovely stories through your work making them feel like real keepsake journals. That sanding disc is GENIUS! Love this journal! Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖
Your journal could almost be about the lives of Harriet & Helena Scott. Two incredible Australian artist sisters who lived in the 1800’s & managed to not only get recognition & make a life as artists, but were even recognised by scientific societies for their incredibly detailed & realistic paintings of butterflies & botany. “Harriet and Helena Scott: their life and works Uncover the captivating story of these two extraordinary women whose love of nature and tremendous skill in rendering its beauty enabled them to distinguish themselves amid the male-dominated world of 19th century science. Harriet and Helena Scott entered the masculine world of science and became possibly the first professional female illustrators in the country. They were also accomplished amateur naturalists and collectors, at a time when women were unable to pursue careers in these fields. Many of their scientific illustrations are still used by scientists today. The Scott sisters were among the first to illustrate the life histories and immature stages of Australian moths and butterflies. They were meticulous and understood the biology of their subjects in great detail. By 1864, the sisters had completed spectacular drawings of moths and butterflies for the publication of the first volume of AW (Walker) Scott’s Australian Lepidoptera and Their Transformations. When the prominent natural historian William Swainson had reviewed this emerging work over a decade earlier, he enthused in the Sydney Morning Herald, ‘... these drawings are equal to any I have ever seen by modern artists … every tuft of hair in the caterpillar, the silken webs of the cocoon, or the delicate and often intricate pencillings on the wings of a moth, stand out with a prominence of relief which it is perfectly impossible to reproduce by simple water colours …’. The brilliance of those colours and intricacy of detail - from the first, tiny, observational drawings produced by Scott and his daughters, to the final 100 watercolour plates designed for translation onto the lithographic stone - are just as startling today. Purchased by the Museum for 200 pounds in 1884, this collection serves as an important historical resource and also illustrates the fascinating story of these two impressive naturalists and their artistic achievements. The meticulous diaries and notebooks kept by the sisters, part of the Museum collection, provide a glimpse into their scientific activities. Working with their father, the sisters collected live specimens from the surrounding countryside, located the right plant materials for feeding and raising their hungry subjects, and then corresponded with scientists to aid in the identification and description of some of the more puzzling species. Walker Scott publicly acknowledged their entomological achievements and emphasised that the painstaking execution of the final life-sized drawings of moths and butterflies in various stages of their life cycles was all the work of his ‘clever daughters’. In 1868, as further recognition of their work, Harriet and Helena were elected honorary members of the Entomological Society of NSW - a rare distinction for women at the time.” From an article on the sisters by the Australian Museum
Hey Barbara. There is another article on the sisters on a resource called “untold stories” which sounds like exactly the kind of thing you’d love, since it “honours individuals whose contribution to exploration, discovery & the natural world are largely untold”
Barbara, I love your beautiful kit(the Sisters and their family)! You are so creative! I love the stories to your creations! I think you are brilliant Barbara! I love your journal(actually I love them all)! I also love you beautiful Barbara! I thank you for always motivating us all! ❤️🦋❤️🦋XOXO…
Liebe Barbara ❤ Ich habe diese Serie nun mehrfach angesehen 😊 Du hast dich selbst übertroffen. Ich liebe jede Minute von jeder Folge ❤ bin total begeistert 🤩 Ganz liebe Grüße Susanne ❤
Barbara this kid is absolutely beautiful. And I absolutely love the journal that you are making and the story you have created. You are such an awesome artist and I enjoy watching you and just wondering what you will come up with next.💜💜💜
Hi fellow Aussie. Have you heard of Harriet & Helena Scott? Two Australian artist sisters who were the most amazing botanical artists who captured detailed paintings of flowers & butterflies. Pretty sure they knew the artist sisters in this journal 😋
I love this grungy Journal. Love when we get to watch you flip through the pages (of any Journal). It’s so interesting to hear the stories you come up with to go into your Journal. Every page starts meaning more when we hear how they all connect. I bought this digital kit. So I loved watching you cut into certain pages. How you use them, change them from a flat page to pockets, coin envelopes, tuck spots. Etc. and I know nothing gets thrown away. Left over pieces become collage fodder. But seeing you cut into the pages gives me “permission” to cut into them too. Can’t wait to see how these signatures get sewn in or glued down or however they get attached to the cover! Can’t wait till next Sunday.
I watched this whole series from start to finish and It was incredible, so inspiring but also so helpful. Thank you so much for sharing with us, I’ve learned so much and will definitely have a go at this. I’ll pop back and comment on all the other videos. Hugs Mandy ❤❤
This is such a beautiful journal sweetie ❤ and the stories add a rich extra layer to it all. 💖 can't wait to see it completed, but it is also one that you would want to keep adding stories to. 😊
this has been such an amazing and inspiring series! i love the journal and your back stories always make the journey more amazing! I had forgotten how much I love doing art in a journal! Happy and sad for the last video! I will be working on this journal journey for awhile!!! thank you Barbara... love from Texas 😊
Numbers as tuck spots? Brilliantly different, love that! I do not have exactly those numbers, but I’ll trace some free ones on my screen and cut them out of painty papers backed with packaging. And I will use 2 numbers instead of just one for stability. And this inspired me to have something similar on the cover. Removable ‘book plate’ is cool idea (I like portable & non-committal better than built-in and dedicated). Thanks for ideas!
Oh Barbara... I just love your story telling as you create this incredible journal. ❤ I often tell myself 'stories' as I create, especially if it is a themed work, and/or for someone else. I'm working on one such project now, and I 'talk' to the person who will eventually own the journal with every piece that I add. When I'm finished, making a journal following this series is my next 'mission', so I'm going to be sad when you post the final video, but excited that I can revisit, and make 'one of my own'. 🧡💚🤎
WOW! Barbara!
OK....all caught up on this episode, anxiously waiting for the final episode.....Question.....I have printed your entire digital kit - I hope you do another tutorial on how to use the rest of the pages....fingers crossed 🤞
I absolutely love this process series❤. I've never created a journal in small increments, but it's so much easier this way. I followed you step by step. Thank you so much for this.❤❤ When will video 8 be available?

Oh my goodness, your stories are THE BEST!! I LOVE this journal!!!
I love the way you create a story, a novel even, by using pictures rather than words. You're my favourite journal artist xx
Aaaaw I’m very honored! Thank you! ❤️☺️
