Great episode fellas! I’m not a Gucci gun fan myself, I’m more into the durability and practicality. I enjoy seeing people’s “creativity” sometimes, but no bling on my pew pew’s. The gun community can be a great place, I don’t care what you’re shooting, Just own a weapon, know your weapon and how to use it correctly!!

      THIS ☝ 💯
I made the mistake of buying a BCM out of the gate. Now I feel like I have to spend 1400 bucks or more everytime I buy another one. In all honesty, its "just" a plain ol' milspec gun. Hindsight says I should have spent half as much on Areo Precision, and I would have NVGs by now. Smh..

Oddly enough, this exact topic has been on my mind a lot lately. I recently took the time to step back and reflect on what gun ownership means to me and it helped me identify several areas I have been neglecting/overlooking. It was helpful to break things down into smaller identifiable goals and begin to move towards them according to their priority.
As such I've shifted mindset from 'get another gun' to 'just finish one'
and by finish it I don't just mean the firearm, I mean the accompanying gear and skills as well.
Can you stop the bleed? If faced with a hostile force how will you carry extra mags? If you get lost on a hunt can you start a fire?
The firearm is just one part of the overall system.

It's funny, when I was young outfitting with accessories was half the fun and half the effort. But now that I'm in my 60's, I've been leaning back to the simple striped down original versions for simplicity, and to shed bulk and weight. Plus I've also been leaning back to the original architecture from the so called "assault" rifle architecture.

Slings are an important tool to include on your rifle, whether they are two-point or single-point. However, the most important thing to have are backup iron sights if you mainly use an optic of any type. Batteries die, glass breaks, weather conditions can negatively affect them. Finally, a mounted flashlight is also a critical option to consider.

The order I get firearms related items are in the order I feel they may become difficult to procure in the future. So for the last 10 or so years it has been. 1 Firearms. 2 Magazines. 3 Ammunition. 4. If needed, iron sights.
If I’m going to use a firearm for a particular purpose like home defense, carry, hunting or a shooting competition I will finish fitting it out with the gear I will need. If it’s just something I take to the range I can swap optics, lights slings…
My thinking is that if the federal or my state government ever succeeded in restricting our firearms rights they will go after restricting the first 3on my list and I will have the time to get all the rest of the gear.
Additionally, in the majority of cases it’s the guns, mags and ammo that manufactures discontinue that I want and the longer I wait to get them, the better the lights, sights and other accessories become.

Highesy priority accessory besides spare mags i think would be sights. I own a Ruger Mini 14 from the 188 series and the flip down rear peep sight is just hot garbage. Adjusting it was a pain in the butt so i just bought a Tech-Sight for it. Same thing with my Marlin Camp 9 and Model 60. Irons were useable but i slapped a Hawke 3-9×50 scope on both and they are just a blast now out to 100 yards

After mags/ammo and iron sights, the number 1 accessory should be a flashlight! it should come before a sling or optic. As they said in video you must be able to identify your potential target in a defensive situations! The Four Rules not only apply in fights, they were MEANT to apply in fights, so there is no excuse not to know what you're shooting at. There are so many cases where people have shot or killed family members because they didn't properly identify the target. A light can also illuminate your iron sights too until you can get the optic. After that, a red dot, sling, and in my case as a lefty some ambi controls, are all that is needed for a defensive rifle. Keep them simple and lightweight with only the needed accessories made by high quality manufacturers, and then focus on acquiring skill and marksmanship fundamentals. Training and practice is more important than hanging a bunch of stuff on rifles.

I think the majority of us started out buying more parts than needed and or really wanted before completing a build. I have 2 giant Rubbermaid containers of parts from triggers, slings, lights, barrels and handguards. I have the obvious repair parts and extras in case something happens and I need to fix a bcg or gas tube and a pile of buffer springs and buffer weights but after that year of collecting and changing out parts that won't be used, I learned to decide what I wanted before buying anything.

Most of my babies are tricked out here and there, but I've yet to buy any light for any of my babies:) HA! I've thought about it, but other accessories took priority:)

You had a gun with circles in the wood stock. I saw a British testing site turned into a museum that used to put these circles on to mark their examples. This was on their website.

Mags ammo and a sighting system are tied number 1, all three are necessary. Number 4 is a light, 5 a sling. Then whatever your heart desires.

Hopefully this video helps you. They are great investments but you should take some classes and master one platform “Beware the man who only has one gun. He probably knows how to use it!" - Clint Smith

Think first by far would be sights ,red dot or scope would be the first thing to put on ur gun . Can't shoot it accurately without them.unless u bought it with 1 already on it . Then I'd say a good light laser would be next on the list .

To me the most important accessory is to practice, get the muscle memory. How good is a $5000 gun with all the mod cons, if you fumbling in a real situation.

I have a genuine question/point of view for people here. I see a lot of guys talking about lights on their defense setups. And to some degree I could understand having a light on your home defense gun, but I do not understand it for concealed carry. My reasoning behind that point of view is that any time there’s a situation to react/draw/shoot there is 0 time to get your light turned on. If you know that someone is a threat to your life, you’re going to draw and shoot, you’re not going to draw, turn on the light, and then shoot. Lights seem like they are more for an offense application than defense, if you have time to safely turn on the light on your carry pistol, you probably have time to get away from whatever threat there is. So my question is, what’s the point on a light for concealed carry?

The last thing I would put on my home defense firearm is a sling. I don't want to reach for it in the dark and be encumbered by a strap. If I plan to carry a rifle for any distance greater than the length of my house, I may use one, but I don't see the need for one by my bed. Please adjust Chad's Ritalin dosage.

Fist thing is iron sites, second sling, last red dot the end. I don't do lights on my guns. I keep emergency lights on in my house. Lights let bad guys see you.
