Can an insert for a single-pane to make it double-pane also have the argon added; or is it a case of take out the single and install a double pane with argon?

Even Andersen disagrees with this as they offer triple pain options. Don't be put off by triple pain, it just means double space. If its available, get triple pain. You only have one chance to get it right, enjoy better sound control, better U value, and overall comfort year round. Not sure why she would mention weight, implying that her own company doesn't know how to design frames and installations accounting for that. The bias is uncanny.

I got double pane, about 25 years old. But really triple pane is not good, really. Terrible job. I guess Anderson does not make triple pane.

This woman is about as clueless as they come. Truth is, Anderson is losing business to the companies that recognize that triple pane is the future and have adjusted their manufacturing to change with the times. Andersen does not want consumers knowing the truth because they care more about corporate profits than they do about making good products.
