📖 STU Great Books Program: www.stu.ca/greatbooks
My colleague Dr. Dinan and I took about 30 Great Books students from St. Thomas University to Greece in the Spring of 2023. Our trip was part of a Travel Study course run through our Great Books program at St. Thomas.
During our travels we visited Athens and saw the Parthenon, as well as the Theatre of Dionysius. We even visited the site of Socrates's prison. 😮 We also travelled to Corinth, and Olympia, and Delphi. If you're thinking of visiting Greece, you might enjoy this video. You can find out about what sites to visit when visiting Greece. If you're a student, you might even be interested in travelling with us the next time we take this trip! Check out the links above to find out more about our program. ❤️📚

A picture is worth a thousand words, but travel is worth a thousand pictures.

We went in August and Athens was SO HOT but Santorini was just right! The food was amazing. I wanted yogurt for every meal. I went through cave-house withdrawals when we left. Great video!

    Thanks Professor Moore
Many of us will never see Delphi, Corinth, etc., so thanks for the verbal and visual tour and, especially, your precious sense of being present in the ancient world.
    Glad students had the experience.

Wonderful video! Thanks for sharing, Dr. Moore. I’m looking forward to visiting Greece one day with my family and seeing some Orthodox Churches and monasteries.

We saw a few of those while we were there. They are beautiful! Really worth seeing. One of the churches we visited near Athens is a UNESCO world heritage site.
I would recommend visiting Mystras for sure. Gorgeous there. Near Sparta.

    Wonderful video prof!
It felt so moving hearing you describe all the places you visited and how they connect the various pieces of literature. As a government and political theory lover myself I hope to visit Greece one day!

Glad you enjoyed it. It’s definitely worth the trip. Sort of surreal to see these places in person!

Great tour! I love visiting these places. There is so much History, Art and Philosophy here! April/May is probably the best time to visit - btw, I spent part of my childhood in Leheon, the ancient port just below Ancient Corinth!

Really enjoyed our day in Corinth! It was extraordinary to see so much history up close. And the layers of history, different periods built on top of each other!
We were there in early May and it was beautiful. Still maybe a little cool some days but that made it great weather for walking around. 😄
