Thanks for this taxonomy! I was trying to do something similar in my search for academic UA-camrs. I'm a sociology professor trying to do book overviews for students and other readers, who don't have the time to read all the books. Also, video overviews of my research. But I would love to do some video essays, it seems like it would have a better audience than obscure academic journal articles. Cheers!
I guarantee this video is interesting to more than six people! Your channel has become my absolute favorite to watch on UA-cam. I hope you hit 10k soon!
-Sincerely, a literature obsessed student and hopefully one day professor!
Thanks @SydneyGuy! That’s so kind of you! I love that you love the channel and I’m glad at least somebody else was interested in this peculiar survey of “Nerdtube”! 😅
P.S. I hit 10K 😀
A real academic! So refreshing. This vid was a fun idea, love it. I've not finished listening yet but I really think your genre is 'actual real academics teaching and being good at it in the form of watchable YT vids'. There are very few of you. Own it. Name it better than I have. ;)
Thanks, Sia! 😀
This is so helpful, thank you!
i LOVE this video soooooo much, my polisci prof will love this. SOOOOO glad I discovered this channel this fine evening as I tried to to catch up on some Machiavelli!
Such a lovely video sadly so few views, please dont be discouraged, great content!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Liked and subscribed, getting into literature and this channel has been great so far. Good luck in getting out there!
Thanks and welcome aboard! 😄 What have you been reading?
I liked your video. I am sharing it.
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it.
Hey Professor Moore
Your packaging & content is generally appealing to me and, I thank you for your concern to educate. But I must tell you I'm also a cheapskate & simply enjoy the free offerings. I hope you can continue in this way. Thank you, again.
Glad you enjoy the videos. Thanks for watching!
My favourite is the academic video podcast, like TWiV and Immune on UA-cam where a group of scientists discuss a recent paper. I’m from a design discipline but would happily watch these from lots of other fields - wish there was more of them.
You are awesome!
No! You’re awesome!
I wasn't aware that there was a whole genre of podcasts run by professors. I've been a listener to the professor-run literature podcast "Better Read Than Dead" for a number of years and have always considered it to be a kind of anomaly. I'll have to look into this. Great video!
You might enjoy @OverthinkPodcastPhilosophy. You can find them on UA-cam. They do great work! 📚
Have you done videos on Richard Wagner's operas?
Nope. 🙂
@@GreatBooksProf They are great
I think the critical element is that your screen personality holds a lot of weight in the equation. You've already got a pretty clear creative voice as far as i can tell, and it pretty naturally makes things entertaining (or at least, it feels very natural).
Which is to say, maybe a year or two ago you had a video with a visual gag involving a bowl of cereal and something that is not cereal (triscuits? Was it triscuits?) And i keep telling my friends about it but i can't remember which video it was. Please advise
LOL, Tom. I love that you remember that! It was Lucky Charms and ketchup, and it was here: ua-cam.com/video/YjJmONUiAFI/v-deo.html
