Hello Warren, the Llangollen Railway Preservation Society was formed in 1975, the section between Llangollen and Berwyn opened in 1986, Deeside Halt was reached in 1990 followed by Glyndyfrdwy (I believe that it is pronounced as Glynfordry), Carrog was reached in 1996 and finally Corwen this year. This preserved, heritage railway is now ten miles long. The steam locomotive used during your visit was Hudswell Clarke 0-6--0ST Austerity 'Robert'. It never ran with British Railways, being solely used as an industrial locomotive and was only restored as a British Railways 0-6-0ST Class J94 at the Great Central Railway and I was lucky enough to visit the Great Central Railway on Saturday 18 November 2017 during the Last Hurrah Gala.
Best wishes and take care. Kind regards, Peter Skuce, St Albans. Hertfordshire.

Good morning Peter, thank you for your extensive and informative comment here. Very much appreciate the extra information and clarifications. I try and keep my voiceover/narrations quite brief and sometimes I subsequently realise I have oversimplified some details. Your point about the Hudswell Clarke loco never running under BR ownership is true indeed. I'm still unsure who actually owns the loco, or where it is based (Great Central Ry??), except it is running this year at the Llangollen Railway. And isn't the Great Central Railway another lovely railway. I have not been there for some time and plan to return next spring. Thank you for your comment here, cheers, Warren.

@@Linleys thank you for your reply.
      You are welcome 🙂
It will be great and interesting to see a trip report/review video of the Great Central Railway.
I must ask you, do you have any plans to visit the Nene Valley Railway? I'm off there tomorrow (Saturday 30 September) for Hunslet 0-6-0ST Austerity WD75142 'Norfolk Regiment'.

@@Linleys - How interesting, I am planning and hoping to visit the Nene Valley Railway on Saturday 28 October - maybe we could meet up, have a chat and I could show you around? I just so happen to be a regular visitor to the Nene Valley Railway.
The steam loco should be Hunslet 0-6-0ST Austerity 3193/WD75142 'Norfolk Regiment'.

I have visited several times over the years and enjoy the countryside and the line alongside the river. To see Flying Scotsman there would have been a delight! Thank you for commenting, Cheers, Warren :)
