  • Less than an hour and a half from Crewe, the Llangollen Railway by the River Dee in Wales boasts some of the most stunning scenery one can see from the seat of a GWR chocolate and cream coach.
A special thanks to the Llangollen Railway's team of staff and volunteers, and especially Charles Allen for granting us access to the signal boxes!

Great video! When I went to the Llangollen I was suppose to have this locomotive (it said on the website) but instead I got a big blue 0-6-0 locomotive... you can guess what locomotive it was. Hopefully you had a good time in Wales. Thanks : )

Yes the Ffestiniog Railway In North Wales, it is a lovely route which boasts the best of the industrial slate quarrying. You'll start at Blaneau Ffestiniog (connected to the National Rail) home to the Llechwedd slate Quarry (one of the largest in the world). then you will depart into a woodland area where the train will eventually loop on its self. I believe to go up gradient and eventually arrive in a familiar place to you ... Porthmadog. This line is an home to many locomotives and unique rolling stock. But before you come i advise you bring a Welsh dictionary, because this is true Welsh Country!! Diolch yn Fawr, gweld chi yno cyn bo hir! ( Thank you, see you there soon!)

I still have fond memories of the Llangollen Railway from when I visited it last year while on a Study Abroad in Chester. Of all the railways I visited, including the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highlands, a return trip to the Bluebell, the Snowdon Mountain & Llanberis Lake, not to mention the various railways on the Isle of Man, the NRM, and the Steam Museum in Swindon, I think this was my absolute favorite; gorgeous scenery, beautifully preserved stations and engines, extremely friendly staff (the guard even offered to hold the train an extra couple of minutes at Berwyn so I could get a couple shots of the station, and the driver was a jolly soul I won't soon forget). I thought the coaches looked a bit on the worn-down side, but they were still very nice, especially the BSK I spent most of the ride in, chatting with a couple of fellow Americans. A truly memorable experience that I would love to repeat.

The temporary Corwen East Station is no longer existent. No trains will run to Corwen till October 2019. And why didn't you shut your window before the train entered Berwyn Tunnel? You must obey that rule, or else 1, you'll end up with damaged eye-sight from red-hot sparks flying into your eyes at 100mph and 2, you'll end up banned from the railway forever more. Learn from your mistake or don't go back to the railway. But nice video nevertheless.

Nice video Will, sorry about soot in your eyes, goggles next time perhaps. Those GWR locos certainly have a good "bark", this one seems "well oiled" too.
I believe loco men called the water crane hose "the bag".
Also nice shot of coach corridors snaking on the curves. : )

@3:50 the bridge has two smoke stains going up from the arch and you don't see very many people putting that detail into their models. I've only seen it once. I think if I don't put as much realism into my layout, I may as well just run the train round and round in a circle on a bare floor. Just a thought. What a beautiful station!

Hey will, Please reply to this comment yes or no if you want me to send in my Thomas and friends train set. 3 weeks ago I went to Thomas land to pick these up and I thought you might like to do a review on some of my Thomas and friends trains. I tested them and they seem to work fine. If not that's ok. I wanted to ask because I thought that I don't need them. I got them for my cousins 6th birthday and he already has them. He really likes Thomas. Oh and I looked in 3 shops that do Hornby near me and I couldn't find the inter city's. Would you recommend me getting them online?

InterCity82 Or not to look funny, just wear some sunglasses, wrap around style. Notice the best view of a train while on a train is on a curve. The same applies to a model train layout.

Was on the Llangollen Railway over Christmas and had a great time. Have you ever though about just doing a lineside video from one of the galas such as the KWVRs?

    • @InterCity82
      @InterCity82  9 років тому

Steam in the North West It's possible, but a lot of people do make videos like that already - especially during the galas. I try to make a video that's just a typical day out, if I can - for families thinking about paying a visit, perhaps.

      Not even one?

Steam in the North West I guess I could certainly give it a go. I wouldn't object to it at all. Not sure what my viewers might say, though. I hope they will be okay with it.

I know this wonderful railway by heart. I volunteer every weekend in the railway's youth group. If you would like to feature the youth group in a video, we would all be very grateful as we are recruiting for more visitors. If you are interested, please contact me through the email address associated with my channel (the one with AOL). I would be very grateful as I am a massive fan of yours! Also, if you would like any information on this railway, don't hesitate to ask! And by the way, the DCC Sound black five you own was recorded from a black five from the Llangollen Railway. Thanks, Charlie

DALEKSLAYER1 Oh right. You can volunteer as a supervisor, if you would like - you get to do the same stuff as us, but you have a little more responsibility. Check out our facebook page: facebook.com/Llangollen-Rail-Youth-Group-903325066395712/

That's a great little vid shows the railway off really well. Just a little note, you can get off at Corwen East and it's just a short walk into the Town.
Next time come and say hello to us on the footplate. I was the guy hanging out the left side of the loco.
