  • In this video I install the 5.3 in the Lincoln. This is a 1962 Lincoln which is similar to 1961 1963 and 1964 Continentals. It will also be similar to the 1965 1966 1967 1968 & 1969 Lincolns.
I had some minor challenges but overall the motor went in smoothly. The alternator is a little to high so the next plan is to modify the brackets to lower the alternator. I will also need to make sure the intake fits. It will most likely be an LS1 or LS6.
Key words: Slab, Suicide, Custom, Conversion, 4.8 5.3 6.0 Motor mounts and install. Cadi. Cadillac.

I have a 67 lincoln 2 door and motor is gone 462.. it will cost me $5,600.00 to rebuild not including getting the trany redone! I just got a LS1 and trany for $1,500.00 Do a little mod to it get 400HP out of it .. Its a No brainer! I was looking into the Coyote too.. Way more $$$ and lots more Modifications! Thanks Brother for your post!

You removed the heater core as well? What did you do for heat?

What did you do for oil pan? Custom or did a aftermarket one work... you kinda skipped over that

Thanks for the post WC! Did you keep the truck mount alternator at stock height? I think that's gonna be the high point for me so I'm looking into alternatives

I kept the truck mount but flipped the alternator to the side. Its prob easier to get a relocation kit

How hard is it to mount? Are there clearance issues for original steering and brakes?

It’s not hard to Mount. There are a few kits out there or you can make your own. There is enough space around the motor

Do you have to cut the drive shaft tunnel?

If you go bigger than a 4L60 you would have to cut the tunnel

Sorry man, but I can't understand putting a belly button chevy engine in such a cool classic Lincoln.

I would love a Coyote but its out of my budget for this build :(
      Maybe on the next one!

The whole belly button term makes me laugh every time but I'd do it too. I'm just glad to see these old cars on the road no matter how they get there.

Smart move dropping in an LS. I struggled with that decision with mine and never look back. It’s easy to get parts and it’s actually reliable unlike the 430. 👍🏻
