This is my first Forza game, so I was quite overwhelmed by all of the customization options at first. This video is SO helpful to clear up all these upgrades!
Note when upgrading, DO NOT rely on the 1 through 10 performance values. They are almost always incorrect. If you switch to where you can see actual statistics as in lateral gs, braking distances, 0-60 and 0-100 times and such, you'll have a better idea of what your car's performance is. Another thing to note is the stability of your vehicle. If you often wheelspin at the start of races and exiting sharp turns, as well as bouncing off the rev limiter, the rear of your car sliding out during braking, especially if you brake through a turn, as well as sliding out during turning. A great number of things account for the stability of your car. Your car can have the best stats, but if it cant handls its own power, its all for nothing.
@@finneas5011 look up HokiHoshi. He's a youtuber that gets into the thick and thin of tuning. He has plenty of videos for Forza Horizon 5 already. If your car has any of the above mentioned issues, or any others like under and oversteering, you should be able to tend to those problems by following his guide
Hell yeah. I just did the Goliath with a pretty damn quick FXX K but on the straights they just haul major ass 😂. Makes it interesting tho because you have to nail every corner almost perfect.
@@BiIlDipperIy I can def vouch for this. I used the x5 which wasn’t fully upgraded and I thinks it’s safe to say I didn’t have a chance on any of the straights. I looked forward and used the most out of the turns to gain distance back
@@chefboyarb Yep lol those drivatars got some serious power on them straights 😂. I used the X5 FE which I'm assuming you used too, for another race like the Goliath except I think this was longer tbh. I was in like 3rd until about 70% or so just sweating bullets trying to catch the first 2 guys lol. And they were decently fast in the corners too, I had to drive nearly perfect. Definitely the hardest race I've had on forza, I'm impressed with the difficulty so far.
Good to see I'm not the only one who noticed this. Back in FH4, I always went for unbeatable because that was the only difficulty that actually provided at least a decent amount of challenge, and I almost always won races with no assists. This time around, I got a measly 7th place at the Mexican circuit with my A90 Supra at the top of A class. I had to go switch to the '98 Supra "Welcome Pack" version and turn the difficulty down to Pro to finally win.
Noticed that too. I just set it to that like I did in FH4 and I got absolutely destroyed in my first couple races. In FH4 they felt like really aggressive Pro or Expert bots, in FH5 they seem to actually just race clean and very very very fast. Makes me look forward to when I can find a way to beat them.
One tiny little thing: X class will usually always be hardest because once you reach X there's nothing left. For example you could have a car that's classified as X, but just barely.. Meanwhile a Ferrari FXX K is already S2 and gets to X with like one upgrade, so that car is gonna be much better off than something that barely reaches X class. Theres many weird ways to manipulate the PI system. I only thought of this because I built the BMW X5 forza edition for extra XP, but couldn't beat any of the hyper cars on my difficulty lol.. So I tuned it down some and changed it to SUVs.
@@Malficion For sure. They're all much faster than the original ones too, without engine swaps. Like the Puma FE has like 800+ HP and weighs 2000lbs lol thing is a monster..
I wouldn’t say it only for online, because in a single player you can practice your build, earn more credits with higher difficulty and more pleasure to drive the car if it’s nicely balanced.
@@HokiHoshi I was going to say some cars in real life have twincharged engine ie rally version lancia delta s4 which I don't if they simulate something like that. I don't if they would ever add group B car which would be cool too.
Yeah bro start from the oem configuration and actually build up small upgrades at a time depending on what you need it for, you’ll find you’ll just have more fun in general
In A class and below I think its best to use rally tire compound for road racing since most of the time its better than your stock tires and takes waaay less PI than semi slicks or slicks, they actually give pretty good grip no matter what surface you're on and if you dip a tire into the grass or dirt you'll still get close to the same acceleration as if you hadn't which really helps on corner exits if you get pushed wide or you're just trying to use all of the track, also pretty essential for when you're racing in the city that has stone or tile or whatever it is if you don't have a good tire on you will have awful pace around there most likely. Also really good for just quality of life it will give cars that had no grip off road a lot more grip so you can actually take dirt trails now without having totally worthless pace. Extremely versatile tire I think its very underrated right now.
Yea I’m extraordinarily happy to see new differentials, off-road tires, and even different sounds for select engine parts. Makes the feelings very realistic and a lot of them help you tune the car easier which saves hours of our time just for the basics. Also the exhaust is a very cool feature they’ve added!! Going to definitely not use the best one anymore on cars that I don’t care about the performance on or just want the better sound.
This video is great but there are a couple of things that are different abiut upgrading in this game in my opinion: 1- front tire widht is almost never worth it, go for more power instead, 2- intercooler and cooling are some of the worst power upgrades, 3-awd swapping is still the way to go in the majority of non-powerbuild cars, 4-dont use rally tires for rally racing, use offroad. Rally tires are used mostly for road racing. 5-bodykits are almost always worth it. 6-the best aspiration upgrade is the centrifugal turbo, 7- engine swapping is meta if you can, certain engines build more power for the same PI cost (for example the racing v12 is one of the most efficient engines). Also going for more power instead of less weight is usually the way to go if your car isn't too heavy from the start.
Trying to find a nice entry-level Rally or Cross Country car because the terrain definitely sets the super sports or hyper sports spinning out like crazy.
@@georgejones5019 Juts like in real life, they are pretty similar. For PI wise, the 2004 started with the lowest PI thus can be consider a better choice to push power build. But the newer version from 2011 and 2015 has wider tyre options , they are all pretty cheap overall. It is very much personal preference here.
For some reason, in previous horizon games, it never dawned on me the importance of tuning a car to the top of its class. I realized this only in forza 5 because the online matchmaking randomizes class and road type for races instead of you choosing what class you want to race in. Before I would just max out a car inevitably to S2 or X and then only want to race in those classes, and now I’ve discovered the creative freedom of tuning different cars for S1, A, B etc races.
With AWD if you increase the rear tire width and add the forza rear wing then you drop PI with every vehicle and very useful for squeezing extra hp into your build
In my limited play since it's been available, I find that overselecting tire performance on lower class cars has a much greater penalty than in earlier games, especially in the offroad or rally races. My n=1 example is I improved an AWD car (Nissan Pulsar, love that car IRL) to A800 w/ Rally tires I consistently got blown away on expert, and by switching back to stock and making other improvements to get to A800 I was consistently top 3 on most rally courses. Other than that, I think this video perfectly captures my experiences and gives credence to some of the things I had thoughts about but was uncertain with such limited playtime so far. I also appreciate the basic tuning video. Kinda glad to lose the formulaic approaches to base tunes, but also kinda wish it was there as the higher difficulty levels are seriously no joke. I had to knock it back to expert, lol.
Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way lol. I thought it was just because I was using an SUV (forza edition X5) that they were so much better but honestly the X5 is pretty damn fast. I've been building primarily grip builds, I might try out a power build because the AI seem to walk away on the straights..
@@BiIlDipperIy I had the same issue. I kept crafting grip builds that handled great but always left me lacking in speed. Once I started going for speed instead of pure grip, I noticed I was staying at the top of the pack far more often. The bots seem to really turn the heat up if you have nice tires lol
@@PlanarianCherald Yep lmaoo I built a 2021 Gt500 that just walks away on straights. I like that they made it more of a challenge. I was sweating bullets trying to stay ahead in the X5M FE on the Goliath race 🤣 I would smoke em on the corners and on the straights they'd just pull away. Makes for really fun racing tho.
To be honest, at the end of FH4 I stopped enjoying AWD and moved over to RWD and they were more fun, sometimes even easier to drive and much cooler. I didn't feel like I was tainting something beautiful.
@@alanrobert3098 I also found I improved my racing a lot more while using a RWD car. Not as easy to race with compared to the AWD swaps! This news has got me super fired up that FWD and RWD are a lot more viable online
@@alanrobert3098 RWD cars experience a lot less understeer, they also have more PI points available for more power/handling. It is the ultimate reward forza gives players for good throttle control
I have watched this on my lunch breaks at work, and have typed notes so once I get my internet up and running at home I can properly enjoy building and racing cars. Thank you for helping me understand spacing and rims especially!
I honestly am one who doesn't care about being competitive and I'd rather reach that by being a good driver, engine/drivetrain swaps are boring to me, I just LOVE to keep the car sound as its meant to be, like in real life, and just fiddle with the rest. Most of the custom builds that people post on Forza are all swapped and it gets boring, so I'm here now to learn how to build cars by myself lol.
Same here holy shit, I can’t stand obnoxious maxed out tunes that people make (mostly the stuff that’s installed), but definitely a lot of the skipped tuning. From horrible racing engines, disgusting forza aero part (they hardly increase the PI unless you really are trying to be competitive and want everything out of the car), stupidly wide tires, horrible PI, terrible gearing, and most importantly the handling. With this video, most people who have a good understanding on what’s important in upgrading, which is nice and will allow for more creative tuning set-ups rather.
When it comes to weight reduction, I usually go for it on heavy cars, and rather go for more power on medium weight - lighter cars. Heavy cars are really lumbering if you keep stock weight.
This is how the game should be imo..the cars that I have driven or been in irl do have similar mannerisms until upgraded. Not on a level of something like assetto but good for what it is. I just want motorsport to come out already.
Flywheel and prop shaft are both drift upgrades, the reduce inertia/resistance between engine and wheels so your revs build faster making it easier to break traction. For that reason it's almost always better not to have them on a track build RWD as they will make the car more prone to wheel spinning out of corners. If you do this build and find your car hard to drive I'd start by removing these so you have more linear power progression.
I have watched no less than 15 videos on tuning and this by far is the BEST video. I just used this video to seriously tune my car beyond just upgrades and wow!! Thank you. I just subscribed and will be watching all the video for tuning to get even deeper!

This is by far the best video explaining upgrades to people like me who have spent lots of time in the Forza Horizon games, but not gotten TOO much into the tuning and just pump a bunch of horsepower into it, but this breaks it down and told me a TON I didn't know. Thank you so much!
Your videos are helpful to even veteran players like myself! I was in a top 5 online team in FH4 (99.9% bc my team was so good) and I've done a lot of tuning... I learned how wrong I was doing it from your videos... Lol... So thx and cheers!
This video is definitely by far the most helpful one I’ve ever seen on tuning, let alone anything specifically in a horizon game. I can’t wait to one day be able to fully upgrade a car without even having to think and most importantly, the very quick base tuning that’s required to fix the remaining issues. So tired of always having to download a tune just to have something on the car when I can simply upgrade it faster than finding one all the time, especially when it comes to these high powered cars. Oh boy shit gets crazy when it comes to those cars, hardly anybody knows how to tune them properly since they go into X class. Multiple wrong upgrades with any X class car cripples the way it should feel and I honestly can’t stand it. I’ve also watched your basic tuning guide and I feel like it went well past the beginner’s level of stuff, which’ll help me make a relatively solid base/intermediate tune for just about any car. Man I seriously can’t thank you enough for these wonderful guides. It’s always been very confusing to me, especially since I don’t know a whole lot about the technical side of cars besides how they work. 😁
I usually pay more attention to acceleration. You rarely ever reach the top speed in a race, a fast 0-60 and 0-100 time is what I go for. A car that has a top speed of (theoretically) 167 with a 0-100 of say 6 or 7 seconds will be more competitive than a car with a top speed of 190 wth a 0-100 of 10 or 11 seconds in a race where you never reach 120-130 during the race. A car with a fast acceleration time and good braking can move through corners faster and accelerate ate into the straights quicker. Balance that with good handling and you have a winner.
A good car for you to try is the Ford GT 2017 great S1 class apex racer it good brakes and acceleration for corner's handles easy and has the good speed for straight's it is my go to for apex races was on FH3 but on FH4 was crap but now it is good again like FH3.
I have never seen a game with such in depth customization and running as foza H5. All of it made my head spin a little tbh but your visor was very helpful. Thanks!
I am, admittedly, more of a Fast and Furious style of driver but with your help I am getting better. I already have pages of notes just from this video. Next, tuning.
"C-Class Ford Escort that you upgrade into S1." Called me out directly, lmao. My first S1 rally was an Escort and while I loved it, I slowly realized it was a nightmare to drive. I'm better now, I promise.
I'm new to tuning (and upgrading beyond the auto upgrade system) and your guide is a huge help thank you! I'll comment on the tuning video if my rally Aventador turns out good :p.
It's always been competitive but required a lot more driver skill (even the smallest mistakes were painful) but my time with F5 has made it pretty clear 2WD options, at least on pavement, are viable again. Offroad you're still going to suffer, but that just how physics work.
So physics killed reality for you too? AWD just has more traction and sacrifices top speed for acceleration. RWD allows higher speed but requires you to drive PERFECTLY. It’s not the games fault that you want to use RWD but don’t accept that it is unforgiving if you are not Michael Schuhmacher
@@Jokerboy1410 I think we all understand the basics of awd vs 2wd, what I think op is referring to is the fact awd converting a 2wd car in forza is kinda overpowered with the amount of grip and accel it provides with very little cost to PI. Awd/v12 swapping everything just to stay “competitive” is literally getting boring..
They should make it so you can adjust the front aero with a body kit just like you can with the rear. It would make sense because the splitters look adjustable most of the time.
The AI this time round is more challenging I've found, normally I'm on unbeatable but had to turn it down to pro or even expert. AI literally is stuck to the driving line and there is still rubber banding.
I've been having the same issue, in FH4 I was always on Unbeatable, and I almost always won, but in FH5 there is always two cars way off in the distance and it's almost impossible to make any ground, even taking the best lines I can. However, I've found that if you have a very well tuned car, or good stock car, you can win quite often. I've found the BAC Mono & Lamborghini Centenario are pretty good cars stock. The BAC is best at circuits since it has a low top speed & great grip in corners, and the Lambo is a very good all-rounder.
Something is wrong with the AI drivatar the last update they said they tweaked it but you can still tell it is like it is cheating as seen them act like they are on a glued track one was going a bit sideways but acting like it was going full speed straight and when you get close it like they have NOS and boost off. The main thing I notice in lap races the AI goes all out cheat mode till the second lap and then it turn off and they act normalish and on sprint after 35% of the race it goes back to normal and cheat mode is off has anyone else noticed that or is that just me.
@@giggity4670 yeah they can go round tight corners from inside of track without going wide or sliding and virtually like a 90 degree angle, impossible physics it is BS.
Great video, Hoki! I am many times guilty of upgrading everything to maximum and pushing C and B cars into S1 or S2, then wondering why I'm getting left in the dust :D My favorite cars and tunes are the ones I upgraded within their starting class (Maybe a class above). They drive so naturally when they are within the bounds of their chassis. One of my favorite FH4 tunes was a '94 Supra upgraded to A class, stayed RWD with around 600-700 hp. Off the line sucked (lol) but cornering was so much fun living on the edge of grip and using a bit of oversteer. I started that tune based on your FH4 tuning guide and tweaked it from there. Thanks for all the content you post. It's awesome!
I usually stick between 300-800hp and will always choose grip over power when it comes to track racing because momentum. As far as drag racing, LS swap the world and send it
Yooooo this was awesome, man. I hadn't played a Forza since Forza Motorsport 3, and many of the things covered here were true back then, too. That & the tuning video (which was badass) were great refreshers for stuff I'd literally forgotten from over a decade ago, yet the layout & feel of everything is extremely familiar. Stoked to get into more of your content! Subbed!
Thanks for this upgrade video and also your tuning video. I watched both of them This is my first forza game and of course i looked on youtube to see what other people are doing so maybe i can learn a thing or two. I stumbled upon this ar12 guy and watched a few videos but the tuning he did was just really weird and never worked for me, so i just downloaded the tunes from other players. These videos really helped as a guideline and i cant wait to try them out myself. Good content keep it up :)
a good mix of speed and grip is essential! i made a r32 b class destroyer a few days ago and it shred most cars is the straight but everything through the corners. for a class the daytona is still just so good
Oops man I swap engines a lot. Pretty much every 4cyl I try and get that rally i4 I freaking love it. Learned some stuff here, I do a few things wrong but mostly right. I'm so glad you do performance last because I've often thought maybe I'm making slow cars and doing majority into power ends up better but terrible to drive. I really like pointy light cars that hug the road so I always tune to that, but I do a few things you said not to do; ill call that free performance for my next build. Super happy to hear RWD is back, I hate feeling like I need to do AWD.
i keep running out of credits because I keep buying cheap cars and upgrading them to s1,s2, maxed out tiers with fastest 0-60 and speed. So much fun upgrading funny looking cars and seeing them blaze past everything
I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a complete noob at this game and franchise overall, haven't really taken a racing game seriously since the first 3 Gran Turismo games, and I really don't know much about cars in general but for some reason I was so excited to play this game and I haven't put it down yet, I'm loving it. I've been completing the map at my own pace and I've done the seasonal content, some challenges and taken it online a few times too. Online is a whole other level though. Tuning and the performance it offers outside of just seeing the arrow go up is just way over my head as of right now I've been using other peoples builds typically trying to find ones at 5 star rated if possible and even after I apply them and race online there's always a few guys that can leave me in the dust on straights and fly around every corner lol. I don't think I'm bad at actually playing the game, I rarely make mistakes or crash into barriers, I rarely miss checkpoints or have to rewind but I maybe play too safe and I'm not picking competitive cars. I think the best thing for me is to keep watching videos like this closely, get an idea of the car tier list and if I struggle too much to make my own build I may start to look at resources online that will do a step by step per vehicle how to get the most out of them, because it feels like the random ones I pick on the game from other players seem to always underperform.
Some trials and the Horizon Arcade events are exceptions for multiplayer content where each player could use a car from different class systems. That being said, good video, its very helpful. Thank you!
less weight allows for a more agile car, but a heavier car has more tire grip. fine line but big differences. if you remove weight from a miata youll find itll just throw itself around with no traction. hence why its usually easier to add power for online. if you find your car is sluggish to change directions it could do you well to remove some weight. if your car just feels like a piece of paper try adding weight before upgrading tire compound
so I'm not the only one that pulls the handbrake and drifts while finishing a race just to see it in slow-mo? thanks for your guides man, being someone that doesn't know shit about cars I really appreciate it
some things have changed meta-wise since this video came out. For one, it's widely recommended to only use dirt tires for rally and offroad because they provide *far* more grip on dirt than rally. Additionally, rally tires have been found to be best for A class and maybe B class.
Depends on the car and track, but If the track is partly on the road go all the way rally if not offroad wins by far. ( Sure less grip but the boost in power you get from the less pi cost is more than enough to obliterate the opposition.)
Wow 2 guiding videos in a same day. Thanks a lot. Can you make another video to explain torque along with hp, i heard you mention them alot in your gearing guide for FH4 but not understand much. Your videos are very informative, love them
Power is the energy output of the engine, you always want to maximize this as the higher this is the more you accelerate, torque is essentially how flat the power curve will be, the more flat the more consistent your acceleration will be over your rev range.
@@MoosyPineappleMan Power can also increase top speed as you need a significant amount of it to keep the car accelerating with the high winds and rolling resistance. Another great way of thinking about torque is how much force in Newtons the tires are able to output into the ground maximum for every meter of travel.
Your videos are awesome and so informative. It's my first horizon games and it's a mixed bag for me tbh. Overall the game is amazing but online is soul destroying at times. As far as tuning goes I feel like I'm studying for a degree, I try to put good tunes together but I still seem to be so much slower than everyone else even if I'm driving really clean (opponents seems to drift out of corners in street races, spewing tire smoke and are still faster??). Never had this issue in Forza Motorsport games. Ive not even come close to winning a race with my own tune in horizon so far, and if I have it's only down to making less mistakes than other players. I can complete a race cleanly; a guy will miss two checkpoints during the race, overtake me both times and still beat me even with same PI number. Hopefully I will get better with your videos.
Love the Colin Chapman quote. I find power to generally be the better option for RWD cars though. Weight reduction affects rear end grip on power too much for my liking.
Watching your videso is a very fun expirience. Great explanations and very well broken down sections makes them feel very informative and easy to follow. I will apply everything ive learned in this video later tonight. Keep it up my dude!!
Quite interesting for me to watch this, I'm currently #426 on the list, I almost exclusively drive my own builds and now I'm watching "How to do what I've been doing more than 99.98% of people who've touched this game" but it's a really good watch and i can't find anything wrong with it. I may have my own ideas and preferences here and there, like I recently went for more handling and less straight line speed than I did before because I feel like it does better overall...but I also exclusively play random online races, avoiding rally stages (yeah, they didn't make the recent AddOn for me^^) other players may have a totally different experience. Oh I don't tune AT ALL, if I'm not fine with the top speed I'll fit another gearbox, add power, drop aero or pick another car. No suspension fiddling, brake distribution, none of that. I'm a simple man
Too bad, tuning can really make your car faster. Also respect people that can't really upgrade or tune. Don't say that you are doing more than them. This video is aimed towards new players and whilst it is not totally accurate it really is informative and well made.
@@ZaZ880 all true. I see that whenever someone beats me in the same car that I use ^^ I wasn't trying to judge, just explaining a different approach for people who don't know or don't want all that mechanics stuff and how that also works without all extra effort. If you're like me and know a superficial bit about cars but can't be asked to fiddle with brake distribution, gear ratios and tyre pressure, you might want to find a next car that does the job before you go into stuff you don't really understand because someone on UA-cam told you how. It works, sure. To me, though, that feels like YOU didn't get it done, you looked it up. I see people making all sorts of bs work in FH5 and I respect them all, I just don't want any virtual oily fingers and until now, never had to pack it up over it. Sorry if it felt critical or condescending, the last thing i want is anyone to think I feel BETTER for not knowing stuff ^^
@@YeeSoest no worries man, i might have just read that the wrong way. I really like to tune but in this game some stuff is really backwards, i get what you are saying
Thanks! Funny that you don't even mention the stat numbers 1 - 10 like speed, handling etc. I guess they don't matter as much as I thought. I always built with those as a guideline. If a car handles like crap I try to get handling up while not compromising too much on speed. But I never really knew what I was doing, so this is a big help. I shouldve watched this before your tuning guide. I've been tuning crap upgrades :D
I love, clean tarmac racing, classic, rétro cars and exotics, so I love to keep my cars clean. Therefore I mostly just upgrade the tire compound, to keep the driving experience as close to the real life counterpart as possible. Forza went trough a lot of work of making these cars handle realistically, and I want to take full advantage of that.
I mostly agree with you. i'm a hot lap hero and love tuning cars just to try and reach top 100 in every rivals event. I have 2 already in FH5 that are firmly planted among the cheated times so they're not going anywhere any time soon. but I really do not agree with you on the cam upgrade. it is the second engine upgrade I put on my cars after exhaust. it increases rev range which massively increases wheel torque cause you can run lower gears everywhere. it also gives you a bigger window on turbo cars which makes them way easier to drive fast. it however doesn't increase top speed as much as some other engine upgrades. I also always try to avoid intercooler and oil cooler. I don't think they are worth while because they add weight which make you slower everywhere but at the end of the longest straights. having some other engine upgrade instead improve lap times more than you would think in every race where out right top speed isn't a factor.
I haven't played in awhile but doesn't the damage simulation option simulate overheating if you run your car to hard hence making oil and intercooler upgrades more of a priority?
@@trippybruh1592 I'm not shure that it makes a difference when driving with simulation damage on but pretty much nobody does that anyways and if you play like me with only abs active, manual with clutch and no damage can't you get any damage from overheating. but I might try this tomorrow cause you got me interested
Sometimes a build under the top level can be more fun than maxing. I try to host sessions where the target is to be exactly half the index in some lobbies I've made. Lowkey wish there was a PI index limit option other than classes online.
classes feel faster in FH5 compared to FH4. My A799 MR2 SC in FH4 had 251 hp, in FH5 it has 280-300 hp. A PI limit option would be good to create subclasses. I'd love a restriction for S1.5 at 850 PI for example, rather than having to tune everything to just under S2 at 900 PI.
@@Ikaros--- Or have a 930 class so cars can be fast, but still limited whether you choose to max the engine, or throw some handling parts in so you don't die.
Always felt like the game needed more parts. EA. Had a game a long time ago called Motor City Online. Tons of swappable parts for all cars. Was amazing!
One of the reasons why I think camshaft upgrades are worth so much PI is that raising the rev limit also completely changes the way the car goes through gears and can increase the top speed of a car without touching the final drive. Between that and a race transmission, you can REALLY fine tune the gearing to make a car that feels very nice to drive and stays in the power band at all times. I also disagree about adding aero to lower the PI and add power, because it reduces the top speed and acceleration so much. Personally, I stick with race tires and avoid adjustable aero at all costs because that way you still have high grip without sacrificing speed. Generally for me, I build tires > transmission, diff > weight > suspension > brakes > power, in that order. If it under or oversteers still, then I will come back and squeeze in some aero when needed.
I just starting to play the game, kinda overwhelmed with type of content, build, and even races event, but now i found what i really like/want to do in the game This "Class Race" and with this upgrade to the limit of that class is awesome! It's like a puzzle and not just slap every custom engine you have and make a B car to S car Really great video
As much as the online brackets are about getting the number as high as you can without going over, there's something fun about taking a crappy looking piece of %#*^ car and making it as absurdly fast and hoonable as possible. 🙂 Tune It And Hoon It!!! 🙂

The A.I in this game really challenge you to have good racing lines and pushing your car to the limit and I love it
Yea the a.i is crazy they will pass you on the outside racing line I thought I was playing ranked for a second lol.
I noticed that too, Fh5 is feeling like one of their best games so far
Unbeatable AI aren’t a joke this time round from my experience so far
This game’s expert difficulty feels like FH4’s unbeatable difficulty.
Yes lol barely beat them and i am a very experienced driver
Noticed that too. I just set it to that like I did in FH4 and I got absolutely destroyed in my first couple races. In FH4 they felt like really aggressive Pro or Expert bots, in FH5 they seem to actually just race clean and very very very fast. Makes me look forward to when I can find a way to beat them.
Man and I felt like I got horribly worse within a day
One tiny little thing:
X class will usually always be hardest because once you reach X there's nothing left.
Have you driven the Sesto Elemento FE? That thing is insane!!!
Probably the meta X class without equal.
@@Malficion does the forza edition have a different tune like the pre order cars? I still havent used my car token, if its the same ill take a sesto

No, Forza Edition cars have some kind of quirk.

I wouldn’t say it only for online, because in a single player you can practice your build, earn more credits with higher difficulty and more pleasure to drive the car if it’s nicely balanced.
Facts 👍
Very true!
Agreed. The AI is a helluva lot better in this game, so I’ve been using it to practice before I go against real people.
Good idea bro.
Ford Escorts are always a good pick.
Any sti or lancer evo are pretty good too
@@rashestkhan2878 I was looking at the STIs but of the 5 I'm not which one I want to buy.
my go to for cross country has always been ford rockstar trophy truck since fh3. only 3 gears to worry about.
Can't remember what car I had but putting slick tires on it put it at like s1 890 ish, which was a 200ish upgrade on PI compared to doing other stuff
Huh I will try that when I get home, because I built high grip on an Audi for rallying, and was getting left in the dust.
i litterally heard "esctasy of gold" in my head when u said AWD is not OP anymore 😁
You honestly don’t need all of the tuning! You can get an auto tune from Ai And still win races
When it comes to weight reduction, I usually go for it on heavy cars, and rather go for more power on medium weight - lighter cars. Heavy cars are really lumbering if you keep stock weight.
Good point
when playing solo i usually drive cars bone stock not even tuning it's actually really fun imagining what it would feel like driving these irl
Thats what I do as well.I only tune cars that I need for a challenge.
This is how the game should be imo..the cars that I have driven or been in irl do have similar mannerisms until upgraded. Not on a level of something like assetto but good for what it is. I just want motorsport to come out already.
Exactly how I've always upgraded in horizon games! Spot on mate
Awd with these upgrades are the shit tho haha
I like how you're able to explain the tuning concept for people that are new to the franchise
the more I understand tuning and upgrades the more fun forza horizon 5 is so thank you for the videos I look forward to watching more

Removing weight is the most important, for engine upgrades I always do the mods that remove weight first.

This is by far the best video explaining upgrades to people like me who have spent lots of time in the Forza Horizon games, but not gotten TOO much into the tuning and just pump a bunch of horsepower into it, but this breaks it down and told me a TON I didn't know. Thank you so much!
Been playing forza since fm4 and this is easily the best tuning guide I’ve seen since back then. Thx for the video!
Your videos are helpful to even veteran players like myself! I was in a top 5 online team in FH4 (99.9% bc my team was so good) and I've done a lot of tuning... I learned how wrong I was doing it from your videos... Lol... So thx and cheers!
I'm not new in forza but still helped a lot. Improved my previous favorite setup. Thank you!
Basically for road/circuit racing, acceleration, handling, braking matters the most, forget about top speed and offroading capabilities.
Thanks!
I'm loving your attention to detail and how you explain stuff.🎉
I am, admittedly, more of a Fast and Furious style of driver but with your help I am getting better. I already have pages of notes just from this video. Next, tuning.
"C-Class Ford Escort that you upgrade into S1." Called me out directly, lmao. My first S1 rally was an Escort and while I loved it, I slowly realized it was a nightmare to drive. I'm better now, I promise.
This is well done and full of good info. I have been tuning my cars since Gran Turismo 1, but it's always a joy to see a good video on tuning.
I'm new to tuning (and upgrading beyond the auto upgrade system) and your guide is a huge help thank you! I'll comment on the tuning video if my rally Aventador turns out good :p.
AWD killed Horizon 4 for me. Really hoping RWD / FWD is more competitive online this time around.
It's always been competitive but required a lot more driver skill (even the smallest mistakes were painful) but my time with F5 has made it pretty clear 2WD options, at least on pavement, are viable again. Offroad you're still going to suffer, but that just how physics work.
Lol, AWD has ALWAYS been "overpowered" in Forza games, it goes back to Forza 4 day, yes, not the horizon 4, forza 4.
@@Jokerboy1410 nice bro, someone with common sense now, people don’t understand that lol.
@@Jokerboy1410 I think we all understand the basics of awd vs 2wd, what I think op is referring to is the fact awd converting a 2wd car in forza is kinda overpowered with the amount of grip and accel it provides with very little cost to PI. FINALLY someone explains class system to players! So many time I got team mate in team race (FH4) who has S803 car...
They should make it so you can adjust the front aero with a body kit just like you can with the rear. It would make sense because the splitters look adjustable most of the time.

Getting into this game a year after this video and I'm about to take notes. I know nothing about cars, but boy am I about to learn.
@@wideboi_porsche A class napalm nova with mild slick racing tires is actually a really really fun car or at least the way I have it setup.

I watched both of them
This is my first forza game and of course i looked on youtube to see what other people are doing so maybe i can learn a thing or two.

Thank you!
Thanks for the tips!
less weight allows for a more agile car, but a heavier car has more tire grip. fine line but big differences. if you remove weight from a miata youll find itll just throw itself around with no traction. hence why its usually easier to add power for online. if you find your car is sluggish to change directions it could do you well to remove some weight. if your car just feels like a piece of paper try adding weight before upgrading tire compound

You're build process is strikingly similar to my own.
some things have changed meta-wise since this video came out.
Building fast cars is easy. Building fast cars that you can control, now *that* is a challenge.
Wow 2 guiding videos in a same day. Thanks a lot. Can you make another video to explain torque along with hp, i heard you mention them alot in your gearing guide for FH4 but not understand much. Your videos are very informative, love them
Torque is how strong the engine is and horsepower is the limit of the engine
Torque = acceleration
Horsepower = top speed
The advertisement at the beginning calls the guy "James" but that's my name
4:00 awd swaps isn't soo OP, finally some good news, music to my ears
Subscribed , Liked and Commented. Thank You!
I see that whenever someone beats me in the same car that I use ^^
I wasn't trying to judge, just explaining a different approach for people who don't know or don't want all that mechanics stuff and how that also works without all extra effort.
Ty so much bro, couldn't find a video that explained this
I love, clean tarmac racing, classic, rétro cars and exotics, so I love to keep my cars clean. Therefore I mostly just upgrade the tire compound, to keep the driving experience as close to the real life counterpart as possible.
Forza went trough a lot of work of making these cars handle realistically, and I want to take full advantage of that.
HokiHoshi, the Sensei of fast car builders! I like it a lot! :-)
thank you... best videos I've seen.. just starting out in forza
Thank you for your informative videos. Your tuning guide in general was extremely helpful. You earned that like and subscribe from me.
Thanks, this video helped me so so so so much. Right after watching this I subbed thank you!
Fantastic video as always! LETS GO!
The deadzone on the g29 is completely gone its so much better with a wheel now
I can vouch for this 👍
Sometimes a build under the top level can be more fun than maxing.
For awd I find if you adjust both tire psi to 31.0 it is more comfortable. Also tune the differential deceleration value for front and back to 100%
One of the reasons why I think camshaft upgrades are worth so much PI is that raising the rev limit also completely changes the way the car goes through gears and can increase the top speed of a car without touching the final drive.
Aero on worse tires is almost always the way to go, it lowers you PI so you can add more power and benfit in acceleration
This is the youtube channel i need :D Thank you!
Your videos are truly amazing. Thank you it’s much appreciated.
This is a great detailed and in depth video. I like it even though I hate BMW great work✌
This is gold, thank you!
I just starting to play the game, kinda overwhelmed with type of content, build, and even races event, but now i found what i really like/want to do in the game
This "Class Race" and with this upgrade to the limit of that class is awesome!
It's like a puzzle and not just slap every custom engine you have and make a B car to S car
Really great video
Great video Hoki, learned alot
Thanks for the hints & tips!
As much as the online brackets are about getting the number as high as you can without going over, there's something fun about taking a crappy looking piece of %#*^ car and making it as absurdly fast and hoonable as possible. 🙂 Tune It And Hoon It!!! 🙂
Great vid. Nice job explaining.
Again, amazing video!
