Thank you Lisa so much for this very helpful video. Since I have moved way UP north the nearest Hobby Lobby is around 150 miles, one way! I have been working on my lists of stores and items to purchase when I go to the Big City when spring springs. 😁 and I will have to hit them hard again in the fall before that first snow falls. I have been looking for chalk paint, but no luck. It is nice to know that I can make it now. Hope you are doing well. 🤗🤗🤗
You are so welcome! You can totally make chalk paint! The finish with the calcium carbonate is wonderful - truly a 'chalk' like surface. 150 miles away from Hobby Lobby - oh dear! We are both well - and I hope you are enjoying WAY up north!
Thank you for showing how to make chalk paint. Where do you get the calcium carbonate pure powder? I would love to make some or at least try. Thank you so much.
I think it worked fairly well? Just for the finish coat, I switched to a wash style brush. And I bought a box of these brushes on Amazon - they are 'chip style brushes' meaning they have a more ragged end. I'm not a paint brush maker, so I am not sure of what defines a chip brush. But it has been my experience that they give a different type of stroke than say a wash brush. I may not have the names correct, or the styles correct. But I try things to see if they work. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they don't. But if I don't try, I'll never know.
@DIYDiva31 thankyou I wasn't trying to be critical I really was curious!! I always hear you and other commentators say chip brush I wasn't sure what it meant ; so thankyou I love your projects and idea's!!!❤️
Not sure what im doing wrong. I got the same calcium carbonate off amazon. When i mix my paint its absolutely gorgeous but i have to use it right away, if not it all dries up. I do have it in a airtight container

Can't find the answer to my question above or the one from below. Please answer. Thank you.
It's like $12 something
May I ask why you used chip brush if you knew it wouldn't work? Also what do you consider a chip brush?

How much paint did you use in the jar? Thank you.
Did you not give the vase a coat of protection after?
I’m going to try borax.
