This was the time when many good songs were released...a new day has come (Celina Dion), here i am (Bryan Adams), every other time (LFO), Fly Away from here (Aerosmith), Look at us (Sarina Paris), Bop Bop Baby (Westlife) etc..as a 12 year old used to listen to these on TV on channel V and MTV here in India... both these channels are long gone .... these songs are still in my playlist though... Brings back memories of early 2000s...no smartphones and internet was yet to become popular! Life was simple back then!! A lot has changed in just 2 decades.
Such a great song and disc! Love these guys.. Much respect... they had this video in the can and ready to release it and 9-11 happened.. And because of what happened at the twin towers.. The refused to release the video at that time out of respect for those that fell....Much respect to ACSS
No wonder why I liked this so much when I heard the ending. Peter Gabriel is the goat. I need more music that sounds like it's a feel good 80s 90s movie
Every day, you crawl into the night A fallen angel, with your wings set alight When you hit the ground Everything turns to blue I can't get through the smoke That's surrounding you 'Cause when you're falling I can't tell which way is down And when you're screaming Somehow I don't hear a sound And when you're seeing things Then your feet don't touch the ground 'Cause when you're falling I can't tell which way is down I can see through the clouds I can walk right through the walls Hang me off the ceiling But I can't take the fall Should I cross the river When I may get swept away Out there on the water You can still see me wave 'Cause when you're falling I can't tell which way is down When you're falling I can't tell which way is down I can see all those things My feet don't touch the ground 'Cause when you're falling I can't tell which way is down And when you're screaming Somehow I don't hear a sound And when you're seeing things Then your feet don't touch the ground 'Cause when you're falling Somehow I can't hear a sound Somehow I don't hear a sound falling
I remember listening to this song in early 2000, during my school days, i totally forgot about it and somehow i searched for it for along time and found it, dont know why i did that😶
Yeah, I saw this video 20 years ago, and for the last few months I've been trying to find it. A few minutes ago "afro celt sound system" just popped up in my head. It's bizarre that I somehow held onto that.
In the summer of 2001 I got a new car (an ‘88 Olds, new to me). I remember driving it home for the first time and this tune came on the radio. A new car AND a new Peter Gabriel song?! Could things get any better? Then September came around and that was that.
Lol, what an awesome music video. Man jumps out of plane and falls alllll the way to the ground, then falls through the ground and plummets towards the core of the planet where he pervades some sort of subterranean orgy and blasts his way back through the other side of the planet and into the air where he is downsideup flying into space and beyond. I love it. Didn't know Peter had a Pilot license lol. Mr. Ryan Seeing Peter Oct 6th at the Hollwood Bowl! Can't wait!!!
❤ found this gem back in my life❤ after days of searching 😊 so happy as it brings back all the memories from 2001. Golden days back then. I believe only very few lucky people know this song exists?? 😅 Cheers
Hang in there!! I know it's an old cliche ... but TODAY is the first day of the rest of your life ... don't dwell on your "mistakes" ... but focus on the good you CAN do!! HUGS!!
Hope you're doing better, might help to remember the rest of the world hasn't done much better, especially considering where we were when this song came out.. 😢 time just doesn't stop at the good parts unfortunately.
Ever since I first heard this song, I've had an idea of doing a video for it that would be completely different: a scene of kids playing at a playground on jungle gym and swings and a trampoline, entirely in slow motion. There would be close-ups of the kids' smiling, laughing faces as they swing and bounce up and down. That's it. It's the type of video you might see in a musical interlude in Sesame Street.
When this came out it was the Summer 2001. Then 9/11 happened and it was marginalized because the video was awkwardly reminiscent of the event. Bad break for the Afro Celt Sound System.
It's New York City, and the man falls past one of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. As this song and album were released in 2001, the video was pulled from rotation after the terror attacks of 9/11.
Umm sorry but you're wrong. Because of 9/11 it was pulled, but that's as much of the story as you got right. Look at the video again. It's clearly NOT the WTC. The design of the building's face is completely wrong.
Neither of you correctly read my post. I said the birds eye view, that means top down looking at the ground. Not the skyline view. But if you look at @1:47 - that is not New York City.
i'm not sure most catch this but the falling man sure does look like peter gabriel right the only thing is...it's from his younger days now at 2:20 peter gabriel of 2001 is there when his younger self falls into the sidewalk "strange"
I believe THIS song may be responsible for all the awful ukulele music found in so many commercials. Think about it. UA-cam videos, bank commercials, fast food commercials.... all have a non threatening happy slappy ukulele. hair song is good, bit the generic ukulele needs to stop.
Love the voice of Gabriel, just love him!!!!

Same here. Brilliant!
This is my 9/11 song... Played it on high rotation 20 years ago.. very sad memories attached to this song.
I just wish this gorgeous video had resolution higher than what can play on a potato, i loved this video when I was a kid

My favorite music video of all time! This is coming from the world’s biggest Peter Gabriel fan.
No wonder why I liked this so much when I heard the ending. Peter Gabriel is the goat. I need more music that sounds like it's a feel good 80s 90s movie
Love Afro Celt Sound System. Love Peter Gabriel. Love this song. This video is the most terrifying video I’ve ever seen.
Love love love this song!!!!!
Every day, you crawl into the night
A fallen angel, with your wings set alight
When you hit the ground
Everything turns to blue
I can't get through the smoke
That's surrounding you
'Cause when you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
And when you're screaming
Somehow I don't hear a sound
And when you're seeing things
Then your feet don't touch the ground
'Cause when you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
I can see through the clouds
I can walk right through the walls
Hang me off the ceiling
But I can't take the fall
Should I cross the river
When I may get swept away
Out there on the water
You can still see me wave
'Cause when you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
When you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
I can see all those things
My feet don't touch the ground
'Cause when you're falling
I can't tell which way is down
And when you're screaming
Somehow I don't hear a sound
And when you're seeing things
Then your feet don't touch the ground
'Cause when you're falling
Somehow I can't hear a sound
Somehow I don't hear a sound falling
First time I've heard this. It's excellent and Peter's voice is magnificent!

I hope you have heard it in Pure Moods 4.
Looking for this music video since 2000
Been looking for this song for almost a decade because I lost the Cd
This is brilliant in so many ways.

❤ found this gem back in my life❤ after days of searching 😊 so happy as it brings back all the memories from 2001. Golden days back then. I believe only very few lucky people know this song exists?? 😅 Cheers
Legend says he's still falling through space to this day
You dont match the vibe here.
@akashravi3142 ......ok
I just realized Peter Gabriel appeared in this video 3 times! 20 years it took to notice
This is beautiful! Two of my fav collaborations! ❤
Love this song
Finally Found it
It's unfortunate that this sound was out around the time of 9/11/01 so it didn't get much radio play at all
💝💌 Searched, and found this again...Love💌💝
SO, SO GOOD!! 🤩🤩🤩
First time i am listening.... It was fantastic..love it 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Peter the great!
RIP Simon Emerson
I remember my dad showing me this music video for some reason when I was like 3
i haven't seen this video since the song was new! excellent stuff, thanks for making it available.
At last I found you, this gave me creeps as a child in my nightmares.....
This track is used to accompany some great skydiving footage on the film "Adrenaline Rush"
That's how I got to know that song - theme song of www.imdb.com/title/tt0353164/ - saw that film in Imax Berlin back then
Long time super fan.
I first heard this wonderful song over the end credits to DUMA, and I've been trying to find the lyrics so I can learn it.
Just watched Duma and now looked up the song. 🙌
Amazing song, but I wonder what are they saying in the background chorus? It doesn't sound like English but it sounds cool.
One of the greatest songs
Has me in tears as often as not. Makes me think of all the different ways I've fucked up my entire life.
Hang in there!! I know it's an old cliche ... but TODAY is the first day of the rest of your life ... don't dwell on your "mistakes" ... but focus on the good you CAN do!! HUGS!!

I think the city, as viewed from the air in the birds eye view is Boston. I wonder the connection?
It's New York City, and the man falls past one of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. As this song and album were released in 2001, the video was pulled from rotation after the terror attacks of 9/11.
@@marcanglin7127 Its not New York and the building he falls past is not one of the Twin Towers.
@@dangordon2132 Ummm, sorry, but it is. It is why the video was pulled; this is easily verified as Peter has told the story of it.

i'm not sure most catch this

But, the guy falling, looks like a young PG..?
Rumor has it that he's out of the solar system by now.
