Soil scientist here. Blossom end rot is a physiological problem and not directly a calcium deficiency. I have never seen a soil in US that is calcium deficient. Irregular watering is leading cause of blossom end rot.

This is correct. He's in the south, so this tends to happen as it gets hotter anyways.

Once you get a bigger farm you're going to want to switch to overhead irrigation. Also, I'd recommend growing parthenocarpic zucchini and just dropping the squash altogether. With the parthenocarpic varieties you will triple your yield because you can keep them covered with insect netting or shade cloth. They really need to develop parthenocarpic squash varieties!

Yea squash sucks to grow from a farming perspective unless you have great varieties that don’t succumb to squash bugs or get so massive that harvesting is takes forever

Last year was my first year growing the patty pan squash. Very delicious in a stir try. I grow the yellow, this year I’m growing the yellow & the green. Thumbs up friend.
What is your spacing? I’m doing 2’ spacing. Do you prune them for air flow?
