And it's pretty clear your issue is the same. Historic or established characters are, who they are. If you want more black, or anything else, characters, then there's nothing stopping someone from making their own story and characters, which would could provide far more relate-ability to the target audience, without undoing something else.
Further, when you sanitize something, to appease everyone, you remove the appeal across the board. People simply need to realize that not everything is designed to please everyone, and if you don't like it, no one is making you partake, and there's something out there for you if you look for it instead of spending time causing a ruckus where you're not happy.

Warhammer has an entire faction representing Trans/LGBT. It's Slanesh. Slanesh is Trans. Lust, Vanity, Narcissism, Degeneracy, Virtue Signaling, it's all there, and I don't even mind.
Exactly, because it was introduced well and didn't change established factions or characters. Changing characters' genders or race when they have decades of written work about them is stupid and ignorant to the history of the character. A tasteful example of this is the Space Marines themselves. Fun fact, Space Marines are asexual. It's never explicitly stated but it's also said that they often don't care about or ever think about sex. It isn't something that concerns them since they aren't built to have sex, they are built to crush xenos!
A poor example of this is the Salamanders. They used to be jet black because they're volcanic people, being black like rock makes sense. But people found that racist, so do you know what they did? Just made them black people, no real reason why.
Does it make sense? No not really.
Does it make the fact they used to be jet black feel wrong? Slightly yeah.
Will I still paint Salamanders jet black? Absolutely, because it's not intended to be racist.
They are jet black because they are from volcanoes, it makes sense lore wise.
If they do alter a character's established gender in this game i hope they have a good reason to, otherwise it's nonsensical.

i pre-ordered a game one time and regretted it, never again. that was when the concept was new and it became a thing because we were suddenly able to buy a game without actually having to buy anything physical. it used to be you had to physically go to the store and buy a copy of the game since the game literally was the disc it was on. when the technology of just downloading the game without ever buying anything physical is when i remember pre-ordering being a thing. if i remember correctly, there was an incentive to pre-order because you got a discount price for the game. since you weren't actually making the company make anything physical which saved them a lot of money from not having to manufacture and shipping the disc, packaging, the case and gamebook etc. I remembering thinking this is kinda stupid when it first came out because my thought was "why would i buy a game and not actually get the game". but i decided to give it a try anyway and i pre-ordered the next cod game that was going to come out and it was a terrible game and i never pre-ordered again. i am thinking that nowadays the whole idea of getting a discount for pre-ordering and not getting anything physical is just gone and now u just get nothing for pre-ordering since physical game products don't exist anymore anyway?

Even if I like the product and company, and I fully intend to buy the product... I never preorder or buy early access. It's just bad practice. I'll wait until 1) the bugs have been raised and fixed, and 2) it has been 6 months so that actual user reviews appear, and become more prominent than the journalists (whose opinions I couldn't care less for) and earlier reviews that could be bought.

I don’t mind gay options in a game, but the last DA basically pigeon holed my male character into being gay because of a lack of options to capitalize on. I felt coerced into playing a gay guy rather than merely allowed to be one, and since I had no interest in making my character gay, it was not a selling point for the franchise. Still, if this were 5 years ago, I’d be glad to hear about a sequel. Now it’s just another woke franchise with all the wrong priorities.
To be fair that's how I feel being forced to play a straight guy. It's why options are cool. But you put options in (starfield for example) and ppl still scream omg wokeness in my game. If you don't won't to select it guess what. The option wasn't for you. Move on

But I do get it can help someone emphasise more with the individuals because its easier to themselves in there shoes amd obviously there would be factors that seperate same sex couple from heterosexual couples but In my personal opinion i think the best loves stories can transcend the surface level.
@@xypha85 That’s totally reasonable, and I get your point, but from one perspective it’s not the same at all. “Straight” is basically default, because it’s vastly more common, so whereas you may be less than thrilled to play a straight character, you definitely aren’t getting bait and switched or fed some propaganda agenda. When they basically took away my choice to play a straight character it was because they went out of their way to do so. As you said, choice is cool. I do also sympathize with the Starfield critics, because identity politics have become synonymous with putting agenda first and quality a distant second. It’s also a sign of caving to a belligerent mob that demands the whole world declare their pronouns. I take it as a red flag and a bad sign, but that’s not to say that those options should not exist.
Funny story: I was playing a Forza game, and chose their least ugly character, which happened to be a woman, but then found that the voice knew my real name from a profile. So they are calling this woman “Joshua”, AND the want my pronouns, so I’m in an odd place. I just want to race a car, but now I’m some sort of trans person due to convoluted virtue signaling as a pre-race prerequisite! Kinda funny. Pretty dumb.
Hope they can reach a day where ideas like “inclusive” and “gay” don’t automatically imply agenda over quality, because THAT is why those elements get a bad rap, not because of bigotry or intolerance. Cheers.

I've often joked that I want to see an adaptation be it movies, show or games of the Codex Alera to see how they would mess it up because it's a world where human diversity is just about impossible. All humans in it are descended from a single group of Romans(about 8,000) that were magicked to the world over a thousand years prior so even if the initial group had some of the diversity they worship(only skin deep) it would become so thin as to not exist over a thousand years of breeding unless they religiously engage in "family play".
If Ashley Cooper were in the 40k universe, he'd have been cleansed by the Inquisition for being a Slaaneshi cultist.

Queer guy here, politics shouldn't be put into Warhammer, unless it's in the universe itself. If a new character is introduced and they are trans (as an example) it shouldn't be an issue. The problem is that everyone brings politics into everything, not just letting things happen and ignoring what they don't like.

I hang out in some alternative circles and I have never met a queer person that cares about this stuff. I've actually met quite a lot of queers that are fans of Warhammer 40k. None of them think 40k has an inclusivity problem.
There are a lot of bigoted 40k fans tho - that have no problem accepting huge retcons, but freak out when female custodes are introduced bcs "woke". Despite it making sense from a lore standpoint bcs custodes are - unlike the space marines who are massproduced - custom made, and the emperor wanted the best of the best, not the manliest. A female custodes could probably be made just a strong as a male one with enough enhancements.
@@plebeianpatrician7860 Here is the kicker - while Emperor wanted the best that is true - he also had to deal with technical limitations - there is a reason why he went with the geneseed aproach - that is because the other methods while might be aplicable they were too cumbersome to be reliable - and as we all know geneseed was made in a manner that it only works on males - to implant it to a woman would be fatal and grotesque at best - body horror grotesque to be exact. Custodes might be custom made but i bet a lot of limitations the Emperor had with geneseed development also limited what he could do with custodes as well. On top of that male physciology is more suited for what he needed custodes to be - females would require a lot more work - so why split aviable resources on reseraching both female and male augmentation when you already have limited resources and you have already invested a lot in male based genetic augmentation - Emperor was many things but he wasn't wastefull - he would understood that going both ways intstead of pushing one of them to the max would be counterproductive.
Even with the burgeoning empire it doesnt make sense to split hairs on this that is a recipe for setting yourelf up for failure and this is base level logic aviable to a man let alone near godly level of Emperors intelect. That is why many fans point that out and imm understand that yes indeed in this case this is an attempt at retconning things based on current day woke agenda and it's painfully obvious at that as well :D

Yes, and it's starting to happen a lot more commonly now too. Devs like FromSoftware and Larian Studios are prime examples of AA outranking AAA games. They care more about the playerbase and the game they create rather than following the woke agenda and catering to these lunatics that just hurt sales and put these game companies out of business.
One problem with that: These companies are titanically huge. So huge that they are buying up every possible resource, studio, developer and sucking down every single grant or writeoff in reach to sustain themselves and make certain nobody can get the traction or means to topple them.
