    Appreciate your open and honest views, I too do not prefer fmm. If going with the larger 98" size I might pay more for the Sony due to the better processing which I think would be important in the larger size, do you have thoughts on the larger size with these two panels? Thank you.

      There are bugs sometimes like a picture setting will turn off for no reason and I have to enable it again. Stuff like that is minor, but it happens. More annoying are the issues with EARC randomly getting stuck in Stereo mode until I unplug the TV and receiver. Other than that it’s a pretty great TV for gaming. So is the Sony, but one downside is it’s local dimming feature will look worse when VRR is enabled. The Hisense looks the same no matter what.

      @@Big_Dogg31thanks for the feedback, so the local dimming with VRR on with the Hisense looks the same? I’m not using any other revivers either so I probably wouldn’t run into the sound issue

      @@Big_Dogg31 I own the X90L, and local dimming seems to be the same with VRR on, and off as well as the fact that it lets me mess with the local dimming settings in both cases. However what doesn't work with VRR on is motion blur reduction because it auto disables all motion settings, and does not allow me to mess with it at all vs. when VRR is off it allows me to mess with the motion settings.

    • @asole2847
      @asole2847 5 місяців тому

      @@rickygreen3496 It's good enough to the point where I would have to go for something like the QN95C if the X90L wasn't to my liking, and at first it wasn't. (Would have went all out, and bought the X95L if it came @65 inches because reality creation makes this thing look really detailed depending on the content. Sometimes it's a slight difference, and sometimes it's a huge difference and that's why I wanted my tv to be a Sony) However after using my OLED monitor to help me adjust the settings this TV looks WAY better now. (I basically eye balled it, and played the same exact content on each display to help me decide what looked better I didn't do anything special nor calibrate it) Out of the box settings don't do this TV justice nor does simply switching to different picture modes. Going to the store, and looking at it in demo mode doesn't do it justice either as I imagine the same is true for every other TV. That's why you have to adjust the settings in their "Picture mode" tab if you want this to actually look good, and give it a fair chance. Now what I don't like is the blooming but it isn't something that happens often it's just a small annoyance to me when it does therefore if this is a big issue for you I wouldn't recommend it. I'm also not a fan of the semi gloss finish as matte screens look cheap to me but looking at it, and looking at my monitor which does have a matte screen, the TV actually doesn't look too bad in comparison.

    I want to see some angle-viewing comparisons. As stated in the first "showdown". There is now a $200.00 dollar difference at Best Buy for both 75" sets. I also hope some context is offered about what changes if anything, one can expect with increased sizes. Is visual quality and movement impacted? Do the manufacturers pack less in resource wise?

    • @Abakaschi
      @Abakaschi 5 місяців тому +2

      Viewing angle on the 75" versions: there is NO contest. The Hisense wins by lightyears ahead due to its ADSpro panel. You will have OLED like viewing angles (not quite, but close enough!).
      If you buy 65" or 85" and up: buy the Sony X90L.
      If you buy 75": clearly buy the U8K.
      The U8K in 75" is phenomenal and the differences between 65" and 75" are stark. It's wild. It's like a different TV.
      Now, Hisense is at fault that they don't communicate this clearly and see themselves getting average reviews for their 2023 flagship model, simply because everyone is testing in 65" only.
      I had a LG C3 in 77", a X90L in 75" and a U8K in 75" in comparison. The U8K is the best of both worlds (closer to the C3 than to the 65" of it's own kind).

    • @Abakaschi
      @Abakaschi 5 місяців тому +1

      To add to that: Hisense only uses their flagship ADSpro panel in the 75" version. 65" and 85" (and up..) is using a VA panel.
      Starting with the 2024 models (U8L?), they are going to use ADSpro in the 75" and 85" version (potentially also in the 65" version).

      Which ever mode you go with make sure to go to "Picture settings" locate "Video signal", click on it, click "Color space", and change it from "Auto" to"DCI" for better color. Also the X90L comes with "Local dimming" set to "Medium" out of the box, make sure to change it to "High", and change "Black adjust" to "Low" or "High" depending on your taste. Also set "Reality Creation" to "Manual", and adjust it to your preference because depending on the content it makes either a slight difference or a huge difference. Just doing these 4 things will make the Sony look way better. There are other things you could mess with to make it look better but these 4 are the most important ones.

      I've had an LG OLED since 2015, last of the FHD's. It's still going strong and the picture still outperforms everything in all ways except for it's resolution. You should have got on the OLED train in the early days. Now that they have to achieve 4K and large sizes they are generally beyond most budgets. My replacement will be LED like one of these two, and will be a backward step in many respects. 4K content and a larger screen size will hopefully be compensation enough.

  • @Abakaschi
    @Abakaschi 5 місяців тому +21

    Hisense does have it own version of "ultra clear" --> please enable it under "Main Menu"->"Clarity"->"SuperResolution".
    It will change the crispness of the image w/o appearing over sharpened.
    Also, the 75" U8K uses a completely different panel (ADSpro), it gives superior grey uniformity, much higher perceived contrast and black level and color volume, too. Besides, the picture remains punchy and stable from extreme angels (almost OLED like).

      I agree Super Resolution can make a big difference in clarity. The ADS panel is great but it actually has lower contrast than the VA U8K panels, not higher. The native contrast is less than half and dynamic contrast is something like 50% lower than the VA U8Ks on paper. Also it seems the IPS panel is more prone to raised black letterbox bars when watching movies. To be fair I’ve heard the X90L does that too.

    • @Abakaschi
      @Abakaschi 5 місяців тому +3

      @@Big_Dogg31 You got that wrong.
      The ADSpro has a lower native contrast (irrelevant) and a significantly higher dynamic contrast (relevant). The Samsung QN90c also uses an ADSpro panel. Its superior dynamic contrast compared to last year's QN90b is significant! Besides, an ADSpro panel is excellent for gaming since it doesn't have any of the VA smear effect. It's grey uniformity and color volume is higher than the VA panel, too.
      The 2024 Hisense lineup will switch completely to ADSpro panels (65” is in question, the 75” and 85” are confirmed). Samsung is switching back to VA panels in their 2024 lineup due to a dispute with BOE (the ADSpro panel manufacturer).

    The Hisense looks better in a few scenes. The Sony looks better in most scenes. The Sony has more detail, depth and a more real or natural look to it. Also the Hisense shows a lot of banding while the Sony does not. Also, these examples are all 4K material, mostly delivered at high bitrate (not sure about the bitrate for the Jennifer Gala scenes). If you stream most of your content (as many people do) then the differences will be even greater with Sony delivering the better picture. This past Black Friday week Amazon had the 65" Sony X90L priced at $998.00 and the 65" Hisense U8K priced at $898.00. Just $100.00 price difference between them. The U8K only wins in HDR, blooming control, and deeper contrast thanks to it's hardware aka it's MINI-LED, and larger zone count thus it's also the better TV if you want the better hardware.

    @9:28 look at the signage on the post with the images and lettering and how much clearer it is on the X90L. In gaming, that's a bigger difference than quality and performance mode where the game runs at native 1080p and is upscaled to 1440p for performance and 1440p upscaled to 4k for quality.
    This is a step above that. So you're getting a DLSS/FSR upgrade from the Sony which is necessary with today's games and streaming content. I do wonder how the better processor of the A95L fares against the X90L.
    In soccer, you'll see the field much better and jerseys, crowd, and signs around the field will be much clearer on the Sony. And of course, the ball will be clearer too.

I've done everything I can to get it to work even called their support, tried all kinds of fixes suggested on youtube and still,, just won't work properly for my optical out cable. Also, the image is bright and let's say punchy. Lot's of settings to mess with though but ultimately it's not as realistic nor as 3D as my 8 year old 4k Samsung.. I'm totally happy with my 65" U8K. I just use filmmaker mode for HDR, Dolby Vision Dark for DV, and theater night for SDR which I did calibrate.
    Filmmaker mode is great for watching movies, but not much else. I know the complaints of being too dark, but a lot of people don't realize that auto light sensor is turned on. If you turn it off, the brightness opens right up and FM looks fantastic and film accurate.
    Viewing angles aren't as narrow as you think. You can have a pretty wide couch with people sitting on it from one end to the other, and you don't really lose that much quality.
    Overall, I think both sets are very close to matching. You could go with either one and be good to go. I just think people hinge too much on "safe" well known brand names. I like my underdog, and U8K rivals the higher end, more expensive tvs.

    After going back and forth between the two, I think they both have their merits. If you don't have crazy light conditions you will notice shadow details and clarity better on the Sony. In my case, I have a really bright room with about 1500 lux of indirect sunlight and lots of windows, my iphone with close to 700 nits was an improvement but still wasn't enough so I have a feeling I will be better served with the 1500-2000 nits of brightness of the U8K. Currently, I have an old entry level 4k LG tv with 170 nits from 2015 😆and I think clarity will be less of an issue if the whole image appears faded in a bright room setting. Also, I think FALDs would have more blooming present if used in a max brightness capacity.

I was delivered an X90L a couple of days ago and it's a very good overall TV, but not as good as some past TV'S I have owned. Watching low-bit rate content (Sling) the Sony is much better in clarity. I also watched Hulu+live you tube TV. The Sony has much better clarity. In HDR The Sony is also much sharper than the qm8, but the QM8 black levels and brightness are incredible and far superior. If the Qm8 had better processing, it could potentially be the best mini-led on the market. The Sony x90l lacks a deep black level, lacks some contrast, and has more of a flat "bland look" in Hdr, than the Qm8. I will probably order a U8K (there are none), if I can. Last thing. XR clear works really well because Sony have chosen to show background content more in focus as opposed to having lots of Bokeh, therefore the overall image looks sharper.

Blooming was practically impossible to spot - you had to have your nose to the screen and be really, really looking out for it. I doubt anyone will spot it 99.999% of the time. Compared to the OLEDs, they were superb, with bright, sharp colourful images. I'd probably say it was a toss up between the U8K an A80L. Comparing other brands to SONY is really silly because the next time SONY loses a REAL test (Picture out of the box, Accuracy of colors/directors intent and Overall quality/longevity of the TV) will be the FIRST time they have lost. And this absolutely excludes any "gaming" comparison because that is not what a TV was EVER designed for. That's called a MONITOR.

    At 13:57 the Tiger simply looks better on the Hisesne. The tiger looks pale on the x90 in comparison. Sony fans will say its more "realistic" but i used to work at a zoo. Tigers are vibrant, deep orange in direct sunlight. Imagine if Sony were so generous as to bring Quantum Dot color to its mid-range customers. One can only hope.

      @xm8lover 3 місяці тому

      @@majicogarcia8417 it sort of depends on what plants and where you are. Temperate plants and higher latitudes not really but being from South Florida closer to the equator with more tropical and sub-tropical plants around I can say in mid-day spring or summer sun you'd be surprised how bright and saturated tropical plants can be.
      The real test would be a demo of a landscape with muted colors. Overcast with high latitude vegetation. If u8k can accurately represent the muted greens or if its stuck in vibrant. If it can then I'd say u8k wins in color hands down. Me owning a u8h and playing through Senua right now I can say it can do the muted overcast look very good as well as super vibrant scenes.

    Sony iş the best . Hisense is ok .
    I hv been using so called the main brand . Ie Sony , Phillips , Toshiba . These tv will never die on you . 15 yrs of use is not a problem . That means all the components inside is of high quality durable .
    As for Hisense , tcl , while producing value for money , their existence is new , not tested . You don’t want a tv that can only last less than 5 years .

To get ppl to buy it but using the x6 x7..as its pristege . Same as Sony, that they use flagship to BOOST its brand image, but they make X95K so 85” so large. Most ppl cant get it. Then don't watch lobster shows... LOL. It's proven fact that SONY TVs are the most accurate picture out of the box BY FAR and they also offer the best adjustments to achieve whatever "look" you want. There is a reason inferior brands like LG, Samsung. TCL and Hisense brag about "how many dimming zones" and how "bright" and how many LEDs they have...because they can ONLY sell SPECS compared to SONY selling quality and picture. You will notice NO brands claim a more accurate picture or better representing "creator's intent". Buy whatever you want.

      @@steveludwig4200 i absolutely disagree. SONY is NEVER accurate. D MOST accurate TV they do NOT have in Canada or USA, it’s called SHARP AQUOS Quatrum Chorma. -it has 4 basic SHADES to blend into colors, not SONY RGB 3 color blends. In fact SHARP to this date has pattern that they are d ONLY company can product the most accurate shades. If u change red/blue/green. ….ALl OTHER colors will look funny, more metena, more warm . Al the oranges, browns, all colrs will be effected. SONY is oNLY Claimed to be best in the North America small bubble. Not world stage. The funny thing is we do not think we are in small bubble but we think we are d Center of world. SHARP Aquos Quatum/Chroma can produce 2 billions of extra shades than SONY any time . SONY has dense Pestle color for red/green/blue. All SONY OLED looks blue. All night scene on snow the snow looks blue tinted. Not white. The light grey looks blue tinted. To me that DENSE sever BLUE glass bottle tint once u see it u cant get over it. It’s just cool very depressing .
      They have been selling Sharp Aquos Quatum/Chroma 4k 8k all this time in Japan. Seems they Might come to USA next year with their QD-OLED .but seeing how disturbing thoes influncers like Andrew Robinson n Digital Trends doing to HIsense U8K n UX, i really think SHARP is not taking the risk having their flagship being ripped apart online like UX was. Cuz SONY LG did that to SHARP ALREADY to their tv long ago drove SHARP tv to be in $2 billion dollar debt, HIsense saved the brand by buying it last min which Sharp bought itself back later.

The reason I’d consider paying more is for a tv that looks as good, give or take, but will be reliable and have good customer service if needed. Last thing I want is the have to replace or service or just ignore a defect on a 75 inch screen.

    I bought the SONY X90L about two weeks ago over this Hisense and the TCL QM8, and love the TV. Way more accurate than either of the Hisense or TCL mini-LED's. However, maybe you can comment on the 'black screen' issue that pops up on the SONY where it maintains the video and audio feed but the picture goes black and only comes back after unplugging (i.e. resetting) the TV. I have a call into SONY technical support right now for feedback. Per Google, this is not an uncommon issue. If this issue continues, I'll have no choice but to return the SONY for something else, which I really don't want to do.

    The Hisense U8K 100 inch TV is back in stock at Best Buy at 2999. Buyer beware! The performance of The 100 inch is not the same as their 55 65, and 75 smaller panels. There is a substantial drop off in picture performance, build quality, processing, and panel. Not even close! There are no free lunches
