Finally a tu3 build. The tu3 was actually the first engine I ever built so I have a soft spot for these engines. Keep up the good work I really enjoyed watching part one
If you upgraded to a Bt-30 Atc spindle you could add a tool changer, both from aliexpress, and ran a fly cutter to resurface. While I’m sure it worked out for you I’m also sure you realize the end mill leaves surface imperfections despite whether you can visually feel them when compared to the cross section of a fly cutter, or shell mill where either would’ve finished in 4 passes with an overlap. Nice work btw. Master tech and engineer here so familiar with your projects.
These types of spindles spin way too fast for running a fly cutter. 6k is as slow as they will realistically go without losing all torque, but I would love a bt-30 atc spindle
Please, let there be a part two. This is the same block I have and I may be in need of skimming the head due to the cursed corner leak typical of these engines. Might just go ahead and upgrade q few more things while I'm at it
I'm also primed for part 2. What's this going into? Guessing if you're using Wossner pistons and rods it's going to be a little tasty? What have you done with the crankshaft?
Great video. Have You though off doing some support for that open deck or is it not an issue for this specific setup and motor? For alot of the honda and subaru open decks they do a dowl pin insert between the block and the top of the sleeves to stop the sleeves from wanting to move laterally.

What cylinder head are you going to use to make this a real beast my friend. I think everyone here wanders about that.. plus great job interesting video keep it up. You are going a great and tidy job there that not lots of people do 😮
I plan to use a Rallye head, but it needs a lot of work to be possible with these pistons. Mostly the squish areas need to be entirely removed. I plan to use the CNC to do this in a future video
@@SeabassEngineering do you mind sharing the block that you are using? Someone told me that you cant use the stock engine block for this upgrades. He told me that it will break down.
@@SeabassEngineering plis why you should remove squish areas. I mean you want higher compression? Or the pistosn dont go so high so the compression will be low after you put Rallye head
hello my friend! Very nice video! I want to ask a question. the head from tu2j2 enters in tu3jp? i looking to find out why the engine only puts out 75hp.. it has a lot in common with the 90+ horse TU engines have you found any possible causes for increased horsepower?
Thanks for watching. This engine is for a motorsport application where the CC of the engine is limited to 1420. I already use iron block in existing engine but alloy engine is 25KG lighter which will make a big difference in my sport.
Probably not for some time I am afraid, I have been moving house and there are lots of jobs to do before I can get back into machining and engine building!
Im returning every month to your channel to see if there is a new video, dont give up on it brother!
same

Finally a tub build, these motors Don get the credit they deserve in my opinion. I enjoye this very much mate, can't wait for part 2.
Love a TU engine, very strong for what they are! Very detailed and meticulous build, great work! Where's PT2?
Need Part 2 ! Very good work and also pleasing to see, keep it up !
Ahh it was a Peugeot mate bloody awesome
Wicked build. Looking forward to part 2
Wow, LOVE THIS! I’m currently changing the piston rings on my TU3S but this is next level stuff! Bravo. Can’t wait to see more episodes. 👍

@@SeabassEngineering sounds like you need an automatic spindle changer to! Lol.

Is that an aftermarket block or the stock engine block of the car?
@Παντελης Π seems to be stock block, but basically everything else is specialist aftermarket stuff
@@iosis2009 oh I see. I may try do the same on mine 😆
When is part 2 coming? Great part 1
Very interesting, I can't wait to see part two!!!
Really enjoyable watch
Very interesting. Could somebody please do a video about supercharging a TU3 carburetted engine? That’d be great😬
Impressive.
Very clean job
Thank you!
I wish there was a second part of this build!
Дуже гарна робота з тим motorom tu3 ! І я хочу ще таких гарно відзнятих відео

Yes I have considered using the CNC to create something for this, but for this specific application it may not be necessary. Thanks for watching.
is it possible to convert 8v 1.6 saxo to 16v with swaping the head and ec with intake manifold, and other stuff from tu5j4?
I wonder if it is possible too

Great video, where did you get the specs? I'm rebuilding a TU3 KFW and can't source all clearances like for the crankshaft and such. Best regards
The specs are in the Haynes manual. But for a race engine the oil clearances likely want to be increased. Depending on the use case...

I live in Turkey and there is no source about tu3 engine, I am waiting for other part.

hello Could you tell me the model of this block? what car and year is it
Block is a TU from 1.3 Rallye approx 1994 crankshaft is from 1.4
Why didnt you do part2? wtf
Can I ask why a 1,4? Why not a 2.0?
Motorsport class is limited to 1420cc
Do you plan to keep the Bosch mono jetronic ECU?
Hi, no this will be run on a DTA S40 ecu.
Does it have oil squirters on the pistons?
No. I am fairly sure the only TU block that has oil squirters is the J4/JP4
Hello, could you tell me if the valve on these pistons is buckling?
yes their interferance engines
@@stul4013 Thank you, friend.
Wet liner cylander with 8 valve and weak Cylinder head gasket. Its not worth for tunning bro. Try tu5 or something

Where is part 2 😢

Hi,
Do you use forged con rod tu5j4?
Yes correct. 133.6 mm
it is possible to use crankshaft tu5j4?
Not for my application, it would take me over the class limit.
HP?
build tu5

the shitty TU3 engine, with still moving cylinders in block....
