Paul, thank you for the updated video with Tonal! My wife and I have ours being installed 10 JUL 24, we can’t wait! We are converting one of our bedrooms to a gym. We also have a Hydro Pro, so I think between both machines we should have very effective workouts! Have you tried a Hydro? I will definitely look for you on the Tonal site. Stay safe, strong, and keep inspiring!
@@PaulSklarxfit hi Paul, we received our Tonal yesterday! I went through the strength assessment, I was blown away on how much resistance Tonal gives back! It had me breaking a sweat quickly! Definitely looking forward to this journey. I didn’t see you yet as one of the trainers, anytime frame?
I've had Tonal for about 3 years now and feel the same. It's where I've worked out exclusively since getting it. Nearly 18M pounds lifted and went from 150 lbs to 190 lbs. Best shape of my life. It's maybe the most life-changing purchase I've ever made.
How has the reliability been for you. Any fraying on the cables, noisy, parts replaced etc? Had ours for 2 years but not near that amount lifted. No issues yet, quiet as can be still.
Life changing for me 2 1/2 years in. I'm interested in building muscle. 2 things that are amazing about tonal- ability to train past failure without a spotter and - ease of use in that there is no need to load weight or manage dumbells, set up for movements is about sliding the arms and pishing a button to select the resistance desired. Not just a home workout but one is able to do things that can't be done in a coventional gym.
Very nice review. I have had one for six months and it’s been the best purchase for my home gym. You can’t put a price on your fitness and health. I enjoy following the programs with the coaches.
Very cool machine and I appreciate the second review years later. The monthly subscription is the only off putting thing for me. But that’s just me personally.
@@PaulSklarxfit But as you alluded to in the video, with all the information it stores it’s probably worth it. Thank you again for the review, and happy Father’s Day. #nodadbods
I just found your channel a few weeks ago when I was researching Tonal. I've been thinking about getting one for the past year. I did not realize you were here in Charlotte! I'm 5 miles from your studio! I'd love to see it in person.
It isn't going to be for everyone, but, Personally, after owning one for over 3 years if mine broke and was not fixable, I would buy a new one and still want to use the subscription. It adds enough value to my life that it is worth every penny to me. I tried custom workout for 3 months based on a workout program I bought but then went back to the Tonal coached programs, it was way better. For me the flow and less thinking and more lifting works better.
100% agree with "if you can afford it buy one". Definitely worth it if you dont have to penny pinch to get one. Going to the gym w/o personal training got stale for me and I plateaud, and i love the different programs you can do on tonal. Also being able to do it at hole reduced the friction of working out by a lot.
Three years in and still the best money I've ever spent. And now they announced Tonal 2 with 25% more digital weight. I'm 6'2" 190 lbs and I gotta wonder who are these guys that need even more weight? Maybe there are one or two lower body moves, where I max out, but it's rare and it's not a comfortable lift by any means. Even got my wife to regularly lift on Tonal and she never lifted weights prior to purchasing Tonal. It's truly a phenomenal machine with only one flaw that I've found. The pins that lock the arms in as you slide the arms up and down are prone to fail since the pin end is only press fit on. They are easy to repair on your own and I purchased after market pins which have a screw on end so problem solved. I've noticed the Tonal 2 even mentions that they strengthened the pins. That said it's not that big of a deal and if you move the arms a bit more gently, you likely won't ever encounter this issue.
I have a couple of questions? 1 do you get to still use the weight setting even after the subscription is up as in can you still adjust the weight after the subscription is up 2 will it save the custom workouts you made even after the subscription is over? 3 pretty much all my questions are about what features you get after the 1st year mandatory subscription? What stays and what fully goes unless you repay for a subscription?
Got tonal 6 months ago. +15lbs of Muscle. Now working in getting sub 15% body fat. I can’t wait to cancel the monthly at month 13. Memorized the workouts so membership will be obsolete. Overpriced monthly, but the hardware is say is worth the $
Awesome machine! I've had it for three years and absolutely the best exercise unit. You can easily workout at the comfort of your home n living room. You won't ever be lazy to workout!
My wife and I bought a Tonal from some friends that only used it a few times for $2K earlier this year. We got all the accessories included and paid the extra money to tonal for it to be professionally relocated to our house and it’s been a game changer. I was lacking that missing element of going back and forth from free weights to digital resistance and my gains in muscle mass and strength have been incredible. Definitely one of the best purchases in fitness equipment we’ve ever made. The cherry on top is that my company will reimburse me after one year for the membership and I’m basically only going to pay half after reimbursement.
I'm writing this because I don't like it when people say it replaces a gym membership. I think the Tonal is great and strictly on a workout level, yes, it's a great alternative to the gym. But it is far more expensive than any gym I've ever used. The convenience is fantastic. I work from home full time, and having it so close makes it easy to keep a schedule - this is most consistently I've worked out in my entire life. A negative for me has been keeping it working, I'm scheduled for my 4th repair in a few days. All 4 times were issues with the same arm, that they are replacing finally.
Does Tonal allow for X-Reps (extended reps at the end of a set with a 4 to 6 inch range of motion until failure) without the unit thinking you are cheating the range of motion? I like to do X-Reps (invented by Steve Holman & Johnathan Lawson) at the end of each set after pushing to positive failure. It would be great if Tonal was able to do it without turning off the weight because it thinks you're struggling with the weight.
i want one of these. I spend / waste so much time doing setup and changing weights and workouts take too long. I would like to work with a trainer to setup / program a custom program, and basically fly through pre programmed workouts in 30 - 45 minutes that make me feel like I worked out for twice as long.
I definitely like what the unit offers, and I think even though it's a premium, the purchase price is probably fair for what is offered. I can't justify the subscription though especially when it strips the unit of core functionality if you don't pay.
I've had my Tonal for two months, and I absolutely love it. The gym was getting so annoying. People sitting on equipment while playing on their phones. Others circuit training and getting angry when you try to use a station in their circuit. I can now get a great workout in my home. What I like most is the feeling I get in the "belly" of the muscles. I feel like I'm getting a much better workout than I ever could with free weights or machine weights.
turning off the dynamic weight modes without a subscription is ridiculous to me -- i shouldn't have to pay a subscription just to get the machine to do the things it is physically capable of and advertised as being able to do, removing workouts and other built in services I totally understand. this is akin to putting heated seats in a car behind a monthly subscription. tonal, if you are reading this I promise you will sell more units if you increase the value proposition for the non-subscription machine
Hey Paul, Loved your video back in 2021, definitely motivated me to buy a Tonal. Really happy to see this update, and have already tried your custom workouts. That being said.... What are the chances of you putting out a program on Tonal? Vs. Just the two custom workouts. It would be great to see and follow along with a week-to-week program that you would suggest for the machine. Thank you for being an inspiration and positive example of what a natty physique can look like.

Its healthy as you know. IU aspire to a build like yours in a sense but I think ill maybe always have more of a covering maybe of subq. Anyway I like your content mate.
Monthly membership to keep features? Not buying it on principle alone. I'm fine with the option to sign up for virtual trainers, or buy physical accessories for a one time fee, but this pay us to keep functionality model that is spreading like a cancer doesn't work in my car, my gaming hardware, or this. I'm out.
Losing the dynamic workout modes is bull. I've been training elite level athletes for over 35 years... I'm not at all interested in the workouts. Yes, the monthly fee makes sense when you add in the trainers, but it sure as heck does not make sense for tracking, and absolutely is just a rip-off that you need it for the dynamic workouts modes. That's a pretty hefty monthly fee. I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I can pay it, but I find it hard to recommend when they lock it up without a subscription. Currently, there is a very limited field of products like this... it's an amazing piece of equipment. But as the competition starts to pile up, I'm hoping they relax a bit on things like locking up features that don't cost them anything to keep running
I do not disagree with you at all. It’s something I hope changes in the future. If you are going to purchase something that costs this much, you would expect those modes to remain with the unit for its lifetime. Time will tell🤝
Big fan of you Paul but I'm sorry, you shouldn't lose the intelligent modes if you cancel the subscription. that should be included in the $4000 price. and you cant compare to a gym membership because you dont have to pay $4000 up front on a gym membership and you can go to a great gym for way cheaper than $60/month. once you use this equipment for 1-2 years and have your routines down you should be able to end the trainers and workouts portion of tonal.

The design is meant to be space saving and sleek. You can pull as hard as you want, but the only way it comes off the wall is if your studs completely detach and fail, which means you have a much larger problem.

This is all fine, but I don't want anything I pull hard on to be wall mounted in my home. You'd think they'd adapt this to a standalone unit.
The design is meant to be space saving and sleek. You can pull as hard as you want, but the only way it comes off the wall is if your studs completely detach and fail, which means you have a much larger problem.
Skipping ropes stand the test of time. I got a video here on how to use one correctly
Да,уж... Каждый тратит свою жизнь по-своему.
I’d rather get a Bonal, the Tesla Sex Robot. 🤘
😂😂
I’m sorry but this review is bias based on the facts you are partnering with Tonel. You are required to say positive things and it’s misleading the consumers.
Wow your strength... I watch your shorts.. ❤❤ from india
Thank you!
🤦🏻
Tonal is a great system. But I'm about to go Full Peter Gabriel and take a Sledgehammer to it strictly based on their customer support. We had some awful movers who lost the mount. I cannot just buy a new mount I have to do a full relocate package. I called to make sure they bring a replacement mount and they couldn't help me. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
Tonal is junk, I wouldn’t buy it.
Nothing beats free weights.
agree
Overpriced
It’s definitely not cheap, but like anything else, you get what you pay for. I have 4 Keiser Performace trainers and a Lifetime Fitness multi cable station at my studio that were far more expensive and don’t compare to what The Tonal can do.
Easy to say. Ive had it for about 4 months now and it is an incredible investment and a fantastic machine/piece of tech.
