I would say that this is an interesting synthesizer for layering - with its help, you can structure various analog sound additions, afterthoughts. This will enliven the composition, give it weight and meaning. A good helper! But it's not for commercial electronic music.

So I did this: I open this plugin in my Ableton. Sounds clearly less than in the videos. So I downloaded the sound of the video (from colleague reviewer Tiger Arcade because of him using an original preset) and put that in an audio track. Extracted the MIDI to make it play the same notes. Strangely enough that sounds much better. For starters, higher volume. I also understood YT provides some compression. They are both in the same DAW, and all knobs and parameters are the same in my VST as in the video (same preset, no changes) Anyone a clue? PS: I was on my way to recreate a Behringer preset in Ableton's Analog.

@@StarskyCarr OK, from the Abacus preset you can go rather easily to the Ableton Analog init preset (the settings Analog opens with without presets):
      In the Abacus preset:
      Disable: VCF2, VCA2, Unison, Vibrato
      VCA1:
      Change Pan to 0,
in the VCA1 display change Sustain to 0.50, Release to 500 ms.
      VCO1:

In the VCO1 display change (Pitch Env) Time to 50%, Pulse Width Width to 50%, Pulse Width LFO1 to 0.
      VCF1:
Set ENV to 4.0, Cutoff to 22000.0
In the VCF1 display: set Decay to 626 ms, Sustain to 0.50, S. Time to 1000.0, Release to 250 ms SVF Slope to 24dB, and Cutoff Mod LFO1 to 0.

Having tried this out, I found myself seriously underwhelmed by it. This is odd as I'm an owner of 3 Behringer hardware synths and I love them all. I think maybe they should stick to what they do best. Affordable hardware synths. I will try and stick with it for a time and see if I warm to it but I have much better (and not seriously expensive) soft synths that can run rings around this, Pigments, DUNE 3, Phase Plant and even Vital. The best place for affordable and reasonably good soft synths is Cherry Audio, IMHO.
Not impressed, Behringer. I would rather put my $99 towards the cost of one of your Model D desktop modules as it is on my wish list.
EDIT: In fact I'm prepared to say that there are soft synths that come with a DAW that can run rings around this.

It's not my intention to be cynical, but I recently bought FL Studio and was experimenting with Harmor, that knew by its reputation. Harmor van be bought for 99 euros. On the same day I downloade this. Behringer states on its site they consider this synth worth 99 euros too, but for us it is free. I must say, I found the opening preset nice, but the twenty something I tried after that underwhelming at the least. Plenty of free synths that impressed me more. I see no reason ever to use this over others. I paid 99 for Pigments, I paid about 300 for Arturia's V-collection (containing impressive versions of DX7. Minimoog, Matrix 12 and at least five others). I must be missing something. But here I am, I go in with an open mind and see what you make of it.
