What a simple and effective alteration based on starter motor design !
This feels lightweight! Mounting it on the rear bridge, is ok but the diff must ve closed at some point! It's perfect for a robotic application!

This is a great build by the looks of it. I'd love to see something like this on the market sold as a bolt on kit.
Now that would be a great idea...that way maybe we could convert a vehicle which we actually liked to be electric & couple it to a REMOVABLE & USER EXCHANGEABLE battery. We don't need a new design of vehicle, we just need a power train for our existing vehicles!

After viewing some of these in the Chinese market, used in EV tiny trucks, I bought one but it showed up with a center mount electric and a drive shaft rear end. I do think this could be ramped up for a Ford 9" housing and 35spline axles for dealing with the 450BPH required for my kind of super car.. Good luck, great post.

I would consider having a stationary differential, with independent suspension... less movement on the engine and parts...
And it would reduce the huge unsprung weight of having the drive motor hanging off a live axle. Neat castings though!
Nice. I'm going to make 2 parallel table saws using that.

I would of converted the axle/diff casing to take VW Beetle type cv joints/drive shafts then put it in a light weight front wheel drive car... fiesta etc add a 20kw battery above the motor in engine bay 10kw where fuel tank was, use blue plastic barrel cut in to sheet to protect the battery under car it should give a 100 mile range ec car conversion :):)

While I like the simplicity of this design, I can foresee there's going to be issues with the wires leading to the motor from constantly flexing. Id opt to have the motor in a stationary location and have a driveshaft to the differential.
The entire wires would be enclosed inside a glass fibre housing and the battery pack would be kept in the front bonnet
That's a concern, but it is successfully handled in various heavy trucks and buses now using this sort of design. A related issue is that motors at any serious power level require liquid cooling, and that means flexing coolant hoses.

You think it would be better to have a spinning drive shaft move instead of stationary cables? Do you realize how often cv axles and u joints go out? Specially with the amount of torque electric motors have.

It would be great that they could list all the components they've used for this project and where were they adquired or how did they manufactured them, if that's the case.

Dependendo do carro da p instalar um eixo desse sem ter q fazer alterações muito drásticas, e ter no eixo dianteiro a combustão e o traseiro elétrico, com certeza seria maravilhoso.
No entiendo su explicacion, Ud quiere el eje delantero a combustion y el eje trasero electrico? Entonces para que lo de electrico? La meta es si es posíble bloquear desde ya la combustion para que paren de alzar los precios los sinverguenzos pretroliferos y que estan destruyendo el planta con la extraccion de petroleos, porque existen terremotos o matemotos? por la extraccion de petroleos desde bajo la tierra y quedan huecos( cavidades) que llega un momento y se hunde la tierra, dejemos de atajar el buen invento de los moviles electricos!!!!!!👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪💪

A lot of unsprung weight there. Lot of stress on axle from offset motor weight.
The offset doesn't seem like a problem to me, but the unsprung mass certainly hurts handling and ride. This design is only used on low-speed and commercial vehicles, not on passenger cars that need to ride and handle well.
