Freddie following on from what you said regarding fake accounts on Facebook market place. One of the easiest ways to see fake accounts. Is to open the advert and tap on the seller profile this will show any and all adverts they have placed. Generally you’ll see a long list of vehicles being listed in all sorts of locations where the scam seller has just grabbed images. Most of the ads all placed on the same day.

I've recently bought a 1965 BSA Bantem, as it was a life long dream to own a bike from the year I was born. It's strange how I can get parts for it so easily, absolutey everything is out there to buy and it's a 59 year old bike! What bike in 60 years from now will be so beloved that you can still buy parts for it....I'm guessing not many but I bet the BSA will still be going.

Freddie, in the manga Berserk, when describing the mastodontic Dragon Slayer wielded by the protagonist the author, the late Kentaro Miura, says:
"That thing was too big to be called a sword.
Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of iron."
This is exactly how I feel about cruisers and especially Harley Davidson...and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I never even looked at a bike until 2019… some 20 years later and at 50 yrs old. 2 work colleagues were riding to work; the more I saw their bikes the more I wanted one, so I bought a BMW310 . I won’t pretend I did have a few hairy moments, but I took things slowly and only rode when the roads were quiet. Got used to riding and some 4 years later I’m riding a SpeedTwin 1200… I wish I did it years ago.. the biking community is amazing and the fun on the bike is “off the scale”. Freddie, I learned to ride in the early 80s and remember the Used Motorcycle Guide fondly -- it really was a different world. For example, at 18 years old, I bought my first bike from a dealer (a nearly new red Honda twin CB125 Superdream), leaned the basics from the salesman on the carpark out the back and then rode off into the sunset, nearly rear-ending a bus 100 yards down the road. I'd never even sat on a motorbike before that...

Wore an Arai for ten years. Despite being really happy I went for a Shoei that was on offer. Felt great in the shop but after 40 minutes I had a headache that wouldn’t quit for 24 hours. Sold it on eBay at a loss and bought a new Arai. Lesson learned although other people with different shaped heads will have the opposite experience.

Interesting import regulations Freddie. One problem with Harleys which doesnt really get publicised very well: people will go to great lengths to steal them from you. I once "babysat" my friends sturgis in my garden shed...not because he didnt have space in his garage but simply because a lot of people in his area knew he had harleys and his empty garage kept getting broken into. The Sturgis was complete and kept covered up in my shed for around 2 years until another friend phoned me and told me that he'd bought it sight unseen and was coming round to collect it. I had forgotten it was there ( because I kept my bikes in my garage) and immediately denied that I had a harley only to be very positively contradicted . Long story short.. the harley went to my other mate and he put it on the road and shortly afterwards it was stolen. You were looking at a springer soft tail. A bit unusual. The Sturgis was another unusual model.

Loved the Used Bike Guide, it championed used bikes the way I do today (but nobody listens because everyone seems to want PCP deals rather than stump-up the cash). Obviously the mag didn't get much advertising because it wasn't flogging new bikes. Regarding dodgy ads on Facebook or E-bay, remember, if it looks to good to be true - IT IS! Importing old classics is fine if you're prepared to strip them and rebuild them when they go wrong - and they will, never doubt it. Paying garage labour rates to maintain them could bankrupt you.

Like the Scram rider, my best touring experience was coming back from Andorra on an airhead BMW GS1200 with a failing clutch.....couldn't accelerate much and had to use smaller, slower roads back to Roscoff. A much more relaxed and scenic trip full of little coffee shops and lunches. If the bike was good, the trip would have been the usual, stressy slog up the motorway with dumbed down cuisine and scenery. So plan a bit tour on a "slow" bike and experience more life...great vlogs by the way...p.s. used to pinch my dads Cz250 as a kid...still got a scar on my shin from the weird kickstart/gearchange lever😸🏍️💨💨💨👍

Probably a carburetor so a mechanic like Joe would have no trouble working on it. The few known weaknesses of the Evolution engine have been sorted by now. The Springer was available in a blacked out, no chrome model called a Bad Boy and a Springer Heritage that in my opinion is the best looking bike Harley ever made.

Here in Spain, we meet at the "gestor" with papers and cash or that the money has been transferred to the gestor in advance. If you have checked/had the bike checked, it is pretty much impossible to defraud/be defrauded.

Excuse my ignorance, but what happens when you contact FB fraudster ads? Do you meet with them and they hold you up or at gunpoint or what?

You see Freddie, this is why I love Harley’s. Unlike the Honda Rune, you can get parts all the way back to the 1920’s. Can you image having an old Harley as your dream bike and being able to ride that bike for real, not just a living room piece to look at. Hell my old 1963 Panhead had a 6 volt Farmall tractor voltage regulator on it. Same one Harley used. Can’t do that with a Honda. You can’t buy parts from the local Harley dealer but the parts aftermarket is huge. And Freddie, as a springer owner I’m telling ya if you can get and evo springer buy it.
