Loved the video, i think most people were expecting a how to instead of the what to look for in the pictures video, but, any editing software will provide you with the tools to achieve the techniques that are explained on the video so its a matter of using the tools an looking for crop, shadows and brightness, etc.
I understand what you mean, but he is referring to those who are taking advance photographic classes. While you take a basic photographic class they won't expect you to understand everything, however, in advance classes they expect to see this quality of photos of your work. I hope this helps explain.
@@thestudio2015 No, he did. Its usually "just by moving a slider"; but do you know what's missing? WHICH slider is being moved- kind of relevant to people who are learning, ya know?
Mark Hemmings,...I watched your first introductory video last night and I must say you are a real real pro,you know how to take photos, various techniques and willing to teach. I wish you were with me a teacher at the film institute. I am watching you and learning. Thx.
For those who think he didn’t teach much, watch again and really listen. Most are basic tips, but really these are the fundamentals of taking pictures we shoot to the next level by proper post processing technique. Applying these tips can really make a difference. To learn post processing or get a step-by-step instructional on your editing app, you will need a longer video or course to do that.
There are many things to learn in the video even if it seems basic or elementary. Maybe re-watching will help grasp the instructions shown and at times explained. Shalom.
I absolutely don't think he's boasting at all. He is explaining different adjustments to bring the best out of different photos. It doesn't take much IT knowledge to open the software he uses and finding the menus to make those adjustments once you have been told which ones to use. It's just about playing around with the options once you have been given such options.
I think you are all missing the point. The boast is intentional. The reason you don't see the answer in detail is because you are being led to purchase the solution.
Thank you! If you're interested in learning more tips and tricks to fully master editing in Lightroom, our Lightroom Editing Mastery course is perfect for you! Here’s the link to join: photpro.to/lem-j
As someone who spent great deal of hours on Photoshop I know short video like this would be impossible to cover all how to do adjustments.I think Mark intended this as a general guide that post production is as important as taking a great photo or taking a mediocre photo but making it great after. He is sharing what's possible.Lot of the same effects can be done on other editing programs.
This video certainly dealt with one of the two important areas, namely the what and the how. In this video, I benefitted from learning about "what to do" and it's my job (if I'm interested) to go ahead and learn "how to do".
Thank you for this video I was self-concern about my photography skills in which I thought I wouldn't be able to achieve certain aspects levels of photos ideas I had. With these techniques, you have shown me I am more confident in taking photos again regardless if I am not an expert at taking photos.
I love the key points you mentioned because it really pointed how one part can make the picture better. However I wished you showed the technical stuff since im not really familiar with the editing settings.
In the first picture, I actually find the original photo more poetic with the three people talking, and the man separated from them, having a Thinker pose. He's already the center of attention thanks to the ray of light shining down on him.
The result, in the black and white “segment” reminded me of how dramatic the photography was in the original “Twilight Zone” TV series, in particular, night shots … I’m curious if after the filming, those episodes were exposure corrected, to darken the sky, thereby highlighting buildings or whatever the subject was! 🎥😀
I disagree with the comments being negative saying “but he didn’t show us how to do it”. That’s not the point of this video and will just bog the content down in unnecessary detail. Instead it brilliantly demonstrates the thinking process you need to apply and the overall goals that you ought to have in mind when editing. It is a great tutorial on WHAT and WHY you need to edit, rather than how - there are plenty of other videos to show you the how.
I disagree with your comment. Ifsomeone says they are going to give you technique and they don't tell you how it's done why bother to post video about it. Wouldn't have bogged don video to do side by side with picture on one side and screen shot of him moving sliders or making adjustments related to the technique.
Great video. I wish you had shared how you did each trick, especially on the one where only selected color should be adjusted. Thanks though for sharing.

My question is, does lightroom allows raw format of my camera model? Thanks for your wonderful videos, your photography/composition is breathtakingly beautiful!
Hi, i tried to open my photos in photoshop by changing the nfl to jpeg.its better for u to change the settings from raw+jpeg in ur camera to be able to see them once u open in ur laptop.

hi dear Mark I have a question As I am a dentist I want to know more about mouth photography how can I have your tricks about photography of inside the mouth that would be great to inform me please
Hi Saeid! We would recommend you get some good lighting set up to illuminate the mouth and use an ISO of 100 to ensure minimal grain. A relatively fast shutter speed and a narrow aperture are also standard practice. You may also want to invest in a macro lens for this :)
Hi, I really like the way you explain. Not in hurry, so much more. Like to fallow you but lightroom is still expensive for me. I like to leaner first all botton on my Sony camera. I just broken two expensive camera. Thank you.

In my opinion he actually does a very good job. If you know the basics of LR you will easily understand which "sliders" he is moving. In addition he mentions which sliders he is working with in the video if you LISTEN closely. More importantly than how he is doing it is why he is doing it. In the end if you're not able to replicate what he's doing then have some self-awareness and realize you need to learn the basics of LR. There are a ton of videos on UA-cam for that.

I read a few of the comments, a number that were negative and state watching if was "...a waste of 18 minutes of my life." I watched the video before reading them. Comments are pretty amusing. All I can say is, I think it depends on what you expect. Personally, I thought this was a great video; the pace at which the different techniques were covered, the example of before and after, the inclusion of light room screen shots, the explanation of what will be adjusted, and why. More than anything, he speaks at a pace that can be followed.
L.S, Interesting Video. Quite a number of improvements are reviewed. Please, could you explain where the ""UV haze""" button is situated? Is this button also available in Photoshop?
How did you make adjustments in lightroom. Would have been helpful to see how you moved sliders to make adjustments. For example selective color. What sliders did you move and what steps how did you do it step by step? Would have been helpful to video yourself moving sliders and doing adjustments side by side with picture up.

Suz, if you have photoshop? With your image open for edits, go to 'Image' 'Adjustments' go down menu until you find 'Selective Colour'. In this menu, there is a drop down menu which shows the different colours you can adjust. Select colour, then all the sliders underneath will affect the colour in some way. The Black slider at the bottom adjusts density. So for the Blue, you would select Blue from the colours menu, go down to Black and drag it to the right. Notice the changes you are making.
