  • Third generation Audi TT is packed full of new technologies. Aluminium frame and hot formed steel make the car lighter and stiffer. It can be specified with new generation AWD quattro system, which allows you to change its responsiveness settings. And the all-new Virtual Cockpit comes as standard on all models.

    I like the way you have a balanced view on each car, moaning about things that annoys you. It really helps buyers with their buying decision. A lot of reviews tend to be biased, some are obsessed with I drive or others with MMI. The war never ends.
    Merry Xmas mate! Greeting from UK.

    It took me 3 days to use it...
    Dude.. you complained about the steering wheel controls taking your eyes off the road, the center control is harder to use when driving than steering wheel controls.
    But I really liked your detail review... My Silver TT rocks!

    I own the model 2. I really like the model 3, especially the virtual cockpit, but it's really disappointing to see the power is almost identical to the previous model. Think I'll wait for the Mk.4 (If I don't decide to go with Porsche, their new Cayman's are pretty nice).

    I am wondering: Would you people rather buy this as a front-wheel drive 1.8l with a stick, or a Toyota GT 86/Subaru BRZ?
    Even then the Audi is slightly more expensive, but I would like to see such a comparison test!

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 років тому

      I think one buys an Audi not just for the way it handles, for also for the tech. I ran a configurator on a 1.8 MT FWD. For 10k euro you can spec it to feel like an Audi. I guess it's down to financing options, and how long you're going to keep the car. If something goes wrong with an Audi, it will cost you a pretty penny.

    I really like this car. My issue is that in the US, Audi forces us to have an S-Tronic transmission (usually at least a $1500-$2000 option and Quattro AWD another unnecessary $2000 option. All this turns a nice car based on a $20k Golf into a $45k luxury hatchback. I think Audi would sell a good many more if they offered the TT with front wheel drive and a 6 speed manual. They could also offer the mechanical limited slip differential from the GTI. That would be a killer car, and probably faster since it would lose 100-200lbs.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 років тому

      MetikalMan Bummer. We even get a TTS with a manual. Do you get the same 2.0 TFSI engines or bigger?

    • @MetikalMan
      @MetikalMan 9 років тому +1

      All of our TT models are S-Tronic in base form. We essentially get the same 2.0 motors though. 220hp is our base TT and 300hp in the TTS. I can't believe they stuff 20in wheels on that thing. It doesn't even look that good. I'd probably stick with 18s. I wonder how well the 180hp TDI would sell in the US? The take rate is pretty high and with something like a 45 MPG rating it may be popular. I never thought I'd see the day I would be asking for a FWD diesel sports car.

    • @davidfuller7442
      @davidfuller7442 7 років тому

      The TT isn't designed to be a massed produced let's flood the market type of car and it's definitely not trying to be a GTI or even a Porsche for all that matter. Audi barely makes commercials or ads to promote it. You don't see them everywhere, which I think is great and that actually helps with resale value. Although, I rarely see owners looking to part with them. I have people constantly asking if I want to sell mine and as for performance, it can hold it's own with the best of them.

  • @Posidaon

    Most of all virtual cockpit? Am i the only one that doesn't like this new gadgets? I mean, Audi is making excellent quality gauges, at least they should make this virtual cockpit thing an options extra!

      +Posidaon In other models, like Q7 it is an option.

    • @Lichtzauberfoto
      @Lichtzauberfoto 8 років тому

      I totally agree with you. it is an option in the new Audi A4. probably Audi thought that everyone agrees to their new technology and changed that on their new cars.

    I feel sorry for the Audi TT, and I know I shouldn't because that's like feeling sorry for a successful actor. Or Jeremy Clarkson. It just seems though that no matter what the mk2 and mk3 TTs do to make themselves proper drivers cars, they'll only really be seen by most as posers pouches.

    • @ChiroVideosTVlondon
      @ChiroVideosTVlondon 9 років тому +1

      And a Porsche isn't? That's why I would go for one over a Cayman. The TT is not as obviously vulgar as the Porsche.

    Sorry Audi but you are not Porsche. You cant make a small evolution of design and expect people to be happy with it. You don't have that brand value/name. This car will look outdated in two years like every single new audi did for the last decade.

    • @MrBiscuitBite

      @MrGilered 9 років тому +1

      MrBiscuitBite Well it´s maybe owned by The Volkswagen Group ( like Bentley, Porsche, Bugatti et.c.). But it is NOT to compare with the Porsche. You cannot expect a car at half the cost being equally advanced. I know - I´m driving one.

      ***** do you have any idea of the cost of buying and running a 1 year old cayman ? you are better off speccing a new one than that. honestly. you think it will be cheaper than the headline base 2.7L cost ? think again.

    • @jamie49868

      It's 3 years later, and this car still looks great. I don't see a whole lot on the road, so there is a little rarity to it. I see porches all the time, and they all kind of run together. Since this is the only car of this type Audi makes, it stands out more. I'm not saying that is as good, but these 14's are going for 20-25K vs 40K+ for the Porsche Cayman. That's a lot of cheddar.

    • @johngraydon506
      @johngraydon506 6 років тому +1

      Bora Markovic well as they own Porsche I don’t expect they are really worried, this car is for normal people who like to feel good, as a “sort of half way house” and on that level its a great car !
