This episode is called "The Magnificent Ferengi" in the 6th season, and it was absolutely hilarious. The episode where Quark, Nog, Rom and Otto go back in time on Earth was great, too.
I loved the one episode when one of the characters was talking about how all the ferengi cared about were profit. Quark put him in his place when he said at least their race didn't have as dark of a past as the human race with slavery. Even though it's a show I was like, damn quark just made a really valid and ugly point about us humans.
Difference is, the Ferengi treat their woman like a Saudi Arabian Nation, have slavers (of other species, but shush shush), and view the poor as literally not human (or Ferangi in this instance). According to one of the Rules of Acquisition, which is basically their version of sacred rules, "A Ferangi with no profit, is no Ferangi at all." Yes, really "better" than humans. Say what you will about us humans, most of what we do is either for one of three things. Pleasure, Family, Honor (or Morality). The worst deeds are usually done in the name of Honor (or morality).
^ Errr nope. Quark berates Sisko for humanity having enslaved each other on mass in the past, a notion alien to Ferengi, alongwith willingly buying poisonous narcotics for recreational use. (Ferengi after all are greedy, not suicidal or stupid) The Ferengi have quite a complex system of liability and rules over the offspring's responsibility to care and provide for their "moogee", should her husband die. Saudi Arabia doesn't have that.
I saw this on rerun and I thought it was the best episode of DS9. The ferrangi are always battling for respect and now they are about to get it by pulling this off.
