Make sure you let me know 1 thing you learned about throwing mechanics, I'd love to hear from you. If you have any questions about throwing, be sure to write it in the comments and I'll get back to you!
This is actually the best throwing info I’ve seen , thanks
You're welcome - I'm happy you found it helpful! I'm here if you have any further questions 👍
I've always wanted to play baseball. But never had friends or family related to the sport, plus ballparks where I used to live (Venezuela) were easy spots to get robbed. Now living in FL at age 20 I'm looking for a team to get in and learn the mechanics (only little leagues nearby). You are a savior for me coach!
That's amazing Alejandro, I'm glad you're getting into the game! I know you'll do awesome 👊 I saw you downloaded the equipment guide, I hope that helps, and there's more where that came from. Welcome to the team!
I have a baseball game this evening and I’m pitching. I hope this helps!
Keep up the great work man 👍
Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you liked the video. Best of luck in your game! Keep that positive mindset and positive focus and you'll do great!
@@buildingbetterbaseball I was wrong, the NEXT game I’m pitching
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you pitch, you want to make sure to create hip to shoulder separation, which means when and after you step you you first turn your stomach and hips, which is why it's really important to have a strong core. When you do this and keep your shoulders, head, and arm back, it creates a lot of torque so that when you release your shoulders, throw the ball and follow through, you get the most velocity and don't put too much stress on your arm. Some excersizes to help with this include planks, side planks, medicine ball routines, and a lot of rotator cuff stretches and excersizes. You can find plenty of tutorials on UA-cam.
Best video out there on the basics of throwing. Great job.
Thanks Len, I'm glad you found it helpful!
Thanks for the clear and concise explanation.
Sure thing John, happy to help in any way I can!
Learned 5 things to work on with my lil guy. Thanks fpr putting them in such easy to understand ways
So glad it was easy to understand, Tyler - this is exactly how I teach my elementary PE students when we learn how to throw. Let me know if you need anything else!
Good job. Very helpful. Thanks.
I'm glad you found it helpful!
Thank you.
Just getting back into playing as an adult (softball for me now) and definitely couldn't figure out where the power of my throw went. Turning my wrist out at the back of my throw is what I was missing. Was definitely pushing more than whipping the ball.. It's all coming back to me now. Thanks! Great video.
Great to hear Austin, glad you found the video helpful.. best of luck with the softball, that sounds like a blast!
Great fundamentals - thank you!
Sure thing, Glenn - glad it helped you!
Such an informative video deserves a million views.
Thank you Harris! I'm happy you found it helpful
Very interesting, great job.
Thank you, I'm glad it helped you!
Been watching your video since last week before we started our competition with other schools and it helped my player a lot. Thank you for your videos.
That’s amazing, I’m so glad I could help!
@@buildingbetterbaseball They won the game & i hope we will still gonna win this week end.
Really helpful video, thanks. I am a new student of baseball from India.
I'm glad it helped, and great to hear you're learning baseball! My channel is exactly for beginners like you. If you'd like to learn more about the rules of the game and how to play - I have a video playlist on my channel called "Baseball Rules - the BBB Timeout" that has great videos that explain the game. Check it out for more learning 👍 Let me know if you need anything else!
This video has really good tips that I can't find anywhere else. I really have a problem with accuracy and I want to know how my arm should move. Any tips?
Hey Joe! The two main things I look at when it comes to accuracy is: first the glove hand - the ball will go where the glove goes because the glove hand impacts the release point. Glove hand to chest = accuracy. Second is release point - you want to try your best to release out in front - almost as if you're going to "place" it in your partner's glove. Feel it roll off your first two fingers, on the release, out in front. Hope this helps!
Great video bro. I wish you would have made a few throws demonstrating the mechanics you spoke of.
Thanks for the comment, Walter - the next time I do a throwing video I'll definitely include that, great idea!
Awesome
Thanks John!
Thanks
Sure thing, Glad you found it helpful!
Nice video. One suggestion - it would have been better if there had been a wrap-up or summary at the end where you mention and list the 5 steps.
Good idea, I’ll keep that in mind for next time - thanks Paul!
How about the role of the wrist on the throwing hand--is this cocked back and then whipped forward during the throw? Also, it seems like my throws tail off a lot of the time. Any way to troubleshoot that? Thanks so much!
Hey Richard, great to hear from you! As far as the wrist goes, I would say it just follows the elbow. So when you go up in the split - you're doing the palm facing away high five action, and when you come forward to throw, like you said, it whips forward following the elbow. On the release of the ball, you snap your wrist with the ball rolling off your fingers to create backspin. The tailing off most likely has to do with your arm slot you're throwing from (Over the top motion, 3/4 slot, side arm, etc...). The lower the arm slot, the more side spin is on the ball, which makes it tail. Does that make sense? Let me know if you need anything else!
I played my first game of dodgeball last week and my throwing technique sucked. Looking forward to trying all this next game!
That sounds like an awesome time, I love dodgeball - this video will definitely work for that. Best of luck!
Should the player throw the ball with a 2 seem or 4 seams?
Hey Al - I'd say all throws from the field should be with 4 seams because the ball travels straighter to the target, compared to throwing with 2 seams. 2 seams are normally used with pitchers because the ball moves and tails so much more with 2 seams. Hope this helps!
@@buildingbetterbaseball got it. I didn’t hear the part. Ty
Palms Pointed away
A lot
When you say turn your hips and throw do you mean turn your hips and then throw or do both at the same time? Please text back whomever? Thanks!.
Hi Ricardo, it’s a little hard to explain - but it’s more like your hips bring your arm forward.
Your arm isn’t going at the same time as your hips, it’s more like a slingshot, or rubber band. Your hips are twisting and your arm follows.
Imagine having a rubber band attached from your arm / elbow going to your front hip. Your hips rotate and stretch the rubber band, once it’s at max stretch point your arm slings forward. It happens quickly though, but your hips and torque of your torso brings your arm forward like a whip. Hope this is helpful and makes sense!
