Clearly from the complexity of all this we can tell that the chao garden is the main game, all those action stages are just a minigame to get items for your chao
bruh if it was a mobile game and it was *just* the gardens and the kindergarten and the chao I'm afraid whoever'd make it a p2w because _How else are you gonna get RiNgS???/?_
@@goddessdeedeebubblesofimag7789 They could have a feature where you can import rings from other Sonic games you own. Most probably the other mobile games like Sonic Dash.
I'd worry about it being infected with p2w crap, but little in-app purchases for some extra stuff (like accessories or additional space for more chaos) could work. They could replace the stuff you get from the levels with various Chao-related mini games. It seems perfect for a mobile game that you'd pick up for 5 minutes a few times a day just to check in on.
When I was a kid my Sister poured, literal, hundreds of hours into the Chao garden. She had 3 full Gardens on 2 seperate Memory Cards and somehow made time to not only raise and tend to all of her Chao, but also put most of them through Kindergarten, Races & Karate. (I remember that she had made charts/diagrams just to keep track of what Chao were in what Gardens and on Which Memory Card.) Sure, she had her Favorites, but all of them had unique names, stats, types & animal features. She would meticulously plan which types and animal combos she wanted to make, figuring what stages/characters she'd have to play as to get the animals she needed, and which enemies she had to take out to get certain Drives. And since we didn't have easy access to the Internet as kids none of the information you mentioned in this video was available for her to use as reference for YEARS, So a lot of this stuff she had to figure out on her own. Granted, we did eventually get internet access which made things a heck of a lot easier for her to study and keep track of, but that wasn't until long after she had hit her stride in Chao "Gardening". Gotta' say, thinking back on it... it was pretty impressive!
I feel this so hard, I cried so hard when my first Chao, Cheese, was lost due to my SADX file getting corrupt, i had had him for years on my GBA first and after a few years of raising em, I finally had one of them GBAtoGCN link cables, transferring between all 3 games. We had a good run until the corruption, but after that I tried and tried and tried to get another one like it. Turning into a mad scientist with every single one of them things. After a while I really figured out that everything is random af with certain things that you could do to change em. I gave up tho. lmfao. I had notebooks full of this unnecessary knowledge lmao. I had so much fun reguardless. I did bring with what I learned about chao with me to other games like Pokemon and all that with how you wannna raise em to their full potential for what you need em for. :P
My neighbor was this way! I didn't have a GameCube so I used to go to her house and spend all day on the chao garden, but she was so expert in raising chaos it was pretty impressive too
After hearing how Chaos chaos are made, I think I understand why rumors about unlockables in other games were'nt immediately dismissed. "Yeah, you just gotta beat ocarina of time seven times while walking backwards and then wait at the final picture for two hours and three seconds and you'll get the triforce."
Nah you Just need to input 2 million specific button presses at the first cutscene in Order to code the game into having the triforce and an botw reference
Nah you gotta get to the water temple without the blue suit, then you gotta backtrack to the temple of time, while you see the transformation to child cutscene and quickly press L L Z A B c left B A A A Z L R Z A L c down. Then take out the cartridge, insert your copy of Super Mario 64. Get to yoshi, then reinsert you ocarina of time copy then get to Ganondorf but spend 3 hours without attacking him. And then reset the game and a chamber will appear in the temple of time and that's where the Triforce lies
When he says “Actually, I’m the Chao doctor,” I always used to think it was only one Chao working all the jobs and that he just dresses up and plays make belief with all his different roles lol
Me too, only I thought he was just those two! I always had this mental image of him tearing off the sideburns, bookin' it to the Principals Office and putting on the glasses and beard every time you switched rooms. None of the other chao in the building ever caught him and all had no clue, but he was telling you, a random stranger in the building, like "Shhhh, don't tell anyone!"
If Chaos can absorb entire Chaos Emeralds and integrate them into its body, becoming stronger and more monstrous in the process, can other Chao do that too?
@@Tinlion09 Imagine you COULD give your chao chaos emeralds, would the community then have to start appending the naming scheme of Chaos forms onto the chao naming scheme to make abominations like "dark-normal-run 0", "hero-fly-fly 6", or "perfect neutral-normal-normal" based on how many you gave them? That would be hilarious. I kind of want to see a "perfect" chao now. They'd probably just look like the abominations you get from allowing extreme values in the editor.
@@graysongdl Nah, they'd just become Super Chao if you gave them all seven. So we need to be able to give them _every_ transformation artifact in the series to compensate. The Sol Emeralds, a little Chao-sized Excalibur, whatever the hell triggered Darkspine Sonic, throw some Color Wisps in there (actually I think a Wisp Chao could look pretty cool), the Phantom Ruby...
@@Tinlion09 "Whatever the hell triggered Darkspine Sonic", eh? Imagine you give one the world rings have like a 50/50 chance between getting a cool chao with a Darkspine Sonic texture or an abomination that looks like Alf Layla wa-Layla. Hell, I'd take the risk. XD I know lot of people say "ugh, why is SEGA bringing back the wisps AGAIN?" every game, and I definitely understand it, but wisp chao sound cool. Having the wisps in yet another game would be a small price to pay if they incorporated them into a new chao garden or something. The phantom ruby just maxes luck but drops strength to 0. Your chao will insist it's not weak, but we all know the truth. Now that you mention them just turning super when you give them the chaos emeralds, it would be so cool if you could then bring your chao into normal levels and they'd attack enemies like super Tails' flickies in Sonic 3.
Embarrassing story: when I was a kid I was abusing my Chao and laughing at the silly animations like getting dizzy. But then I left it alone and it started to shiver, guilt started washing over me and I approached it, then it screamed and ran away from me. I had attempted to jump in front of it, but I jumped on top of it instead, and of course being Sonic I hit him again. Then it happened, it stood there and started to cry. I felt so horrible, not realizing they actually felt hurt, and then I cried too. Since then I took really good care of him and he became my best Chao. I miss my babies sometimes, spent many hours raising them and watching them. It was my favorite feature in SA2B, and I've missed it ever since.
This. I've gotta say, the way people treated their Chao was always one of the biggest indicators of a person's character to me when I was little. I knew a person who had a super strong Chao that I couldn't keep up with as a kid, but that Chao ultimately entered a white cocoon and died. Which should speak volumes as to what that person was doing when not putting that Chao in races or karate matches. I always lost to that Chao, but retrospectively, I'm kinda glad that I did. This person had also taught me that the literal only way to hatch eggs was by breaking them against the wall. I found out otherwise later on of course, but my first action after breaking the egg was always to cuddle the newborn Chao like there was no tomorrow to keep it from crying. Anytime I ever accidentally hurt a Chao by landing on them after a jump, or by playing around with the in-garden attacks, there was an instantaneous feeling of guilt and shame that shot through me like lightning. It always took a while for me to emotionally recover from having accidentally hurt my Chao, because I couldn't physically bear to watch them cry and shudder. I honestly feel like the Chao Garden had to be one of the best early examples of how narrative violence works in media, and set the stage for my enjoyment of things like Undertale. I hope it does come back in some form in the future.
It is Baffling that they put this much effort into an entirely optional feature of the game. I want a spinoff game that is literally Just chao raising now.
This has been one of my childhood dreams. I see a lot of people talking about the possibility of a chao mobile game. But honestly that would the worst. All the chao lore and gameplay can encompass an entire 60$ game I believe.
@@bnewtz7492 I think more a $40 game for the switch and pc and maybe ps5 and series x. It would combine all content throughout the game as well as over doubling the current content by adding so much more. Possibly maybe some dlc as well as seasonal events and updates in the game as well as ways to change the appearance of your island or terraform and create structures. Maybe they could create a whole create-an-island feature.
Standalone Chao Garden is a really bad idea. How would you get Chaos Drives and Animals without spending real money / rings without doing some dumb minigame? They're made to be part of the games.
Well, technically any chao that changed its original shape is also mutated. I believe the whole concept of a Chao (and the 7 emeralds)was conceived as a cute twist of the primordial state of the "waters of Chaos" , pretty much a metaphoric representation of formless mixture of everything that gods from many myths used to create all things, or better said, give physical shape to their ideas. A Chao only physically changes after being influenced. I suppose a chao, with a lot of input, can potentially become anything, as such is the case of Chaos. Yet for the purpose of the game's scope they only can be customizable blobby munchkins. Chaos somehow warped Its chao body into basically primordial water. Add the 7 emeralds boost, then instigate It into an intense state of rage, and you will have the massive liquid anaconda that loosely resembles kukulkan, the mayan serpent God. It's funny to ponder how both chao, shaped by thoughts, and emeralds, powered by thoughts, are closely related in essence.
i love how this explained pretty much everything except what the hell the chao actually are i went in wanting to know how or why they were made inlore or if they just always existed, what their relation to chaos is, etc and instead learnt about a whole ecosystem the closest thing i can describe to what im feeling about this is that its like being led right into a prank in public but then given 5000 dollars but youre still pissed off internally
I don't know how much is said but in SA1 when you go back in time you see them all hanging out around the master emerald. Tikal helps raise them I think.
@@valletasOrigens reads like an early gen pokemon name that will mess up my understanding of spelling and language for life and I'd only understand where that misconception came from when I get back into pokemon in my late teens
I cried so much when my brother "Good-bye"d my chao in Sonic Adventure DX. We were young and I had made this unique purple chao that had predominant peacock features. She was so overpowered that she was doing that thing where she laid down before starting to run. My brother threw her away cuz he was mad at me and my father didn't knew what to do. He was asking my brother to "give him his baby back" but ofc he couldn't. All my pain was lost when I found chao editor hehe. Everything was a chaos chao and I loved it.
You leave for almost 3 years, with no acknowledgement that you exist on social media, convincing a bunch of people you're gone for good. Then out of no where, you make a 75 minute video essay on all the comprehensible information and intricacies of Chao. Never change Cybershell.
Well shit dude it takes 3 years of grind to go through all the chao content. He was busy making this video all that time, didn't have the liberty to post on social media.
"Everything'll be okay." I always used Tails in the chao garden because his tails were the perfect length to measure how far away you had to be from the chao to turn around and dupe your animal/drive.
From what I've gathered, a lot of people in East Asia have the tradition of going to a fortune teller to name their child, to get a 'lucky name', that's why in the game you have to go to a fortune teller to name the chao.
They've got an entire system in Japan where they count the number of strokes in different segments of a name, and how that impacts luck in each phase of life. So, for instance, it might turn out that "Oh we really want to name our daughter Akiko, which combination of kanji will be the luckiest?"
I remember killing a chao i actually liked by accident with knuckles. Really not the best decision to have the grab button be the same as the "punch stuff dead" button.
Yea, I remember first playing as eggman in the chao garden and I accidentally smacked a new born chao at least 2 times, so that's why I just use characters like sonic or shadow
I visited chao garden for probably the 1st time today, and ended up spin jumping as Sonic on a chao accidently, I felt bad but didn`t think it will have major effects, and now it has that dark chao grin on it & since I found out that character of one side upsetting a chao can cause it to turn towards becoming chao of the other side... yea my mistake is gonna turn that lil baby into a naughty boy, I`m just gonna reset my chao garden data I should start over again EDIT: NVM not gonna reset the process is too complicated for me
Yeah, I tended to always use Tails in SA2B because he ran more slowly than the other characters, so I wouldn't accidentally kick a chao, and his flying also made it easy to search the garden if I had a lot of Chaos in one area. The others tended to be kind of annoying to control. I used Rouge for dark Chao since Eggman walks really strangely and Shadow has Sonic's speed walking. Once they evolved though, I always swapped back to Tails.
The woman who helped make the Chao garden is one of the people leading Sonic Frontiers development. Fingers crossed. If it has a Chao garden I'm gonna shit my pants
and its not even that difficult to do, at that, I used to think achieving a Chaos chao was some unholy undertaking but its apparently piss easy, only requiring a bit of grind.
Maybe not; did you know there's an achievement for getting 100,000 rings? It only counts what you are holding at the end of a level, and the max is 999, so you need to grind a certain stage like 70 times after you've gotten everything else in the game. This really adds to the playtime in the worst way possible. Not counting that achievement (which isn't really in-game in any way), Forces would probably be faster.
I've got a fast technique that involves pumpkin hill. There's one out in the open on church mountain and potentially 2 of them can pop out of the 2nd chao box. While you're there you might as well get the half-fish. I think it removes animal parts too.
Two things: - I'm 30 and am never ever realized how complex the Chao Garden is. - The whole concept and architecture of the Chao Garden is far beyond from the whole project of Sonic Forces. (Cybershell, the editing on this video is pure gold; thank you)
The craziest part is that it's not only optional, it's almost totally disconnected from the rest of the game. Nightopians are so utterly irrelevant to their own game that most players never recognize them as anything more than background elements. At least Chao racing gets you a few Emblems.
I usually don't leave comments, but I've watched this full thing like six or so times since it came out. I don't know what it is about it, but something about cybershell calmly explaining Chao's with a pinch of occasional sass is just so engaging. I've watched all his other videos, and they're good, but none quite do it for me like this one. I didn't think anything special about it when it first came out, but somehow I just keep finding my way back here. Truthfully I've never even played any sonic game, other than mania which I played for like 15 minutes before realizing it just wasn't for me, but I have already sunk 8 hours into this one video, and suspect I'll sink many more into it for years to come. Thanks you for making such an absolute masterpiece of a Chao video Cybershell.
Yup same I literally don't even like sonic games but for some reason I like his breakdown of the Chao system so I've watched this like four or five times.
To clarify. The Chao that skipped the Fruit puzzle happened because he tripped right at the starting point of it. I've had it happen to my Chao, but it's super rare because there's a very small window that they can trip and just slide forward enough that they skip the flag to do the puzzle.
OTHER FUN FACTS ABOUT CHAO: - In the Dreamcast version, it is possible to bring your Chao from SA1 over to SA2 using the VMU... but the system isn't programmed very well and bugs are likely to occur. A silver Chao I imported looked normal in SA2 but all of his offspring were Moon Chao. Another one had all of the polygons in his model permanently scrambled up, including one in his head that stretched across the entire garden. (I had to cover it with a mask) - In SA1, you can kill your Chao by feeding it too much. I'm not sure what causes it, but my best guess is that food restores a small portion of your Chao's HP, and if you give it too much, the value will eventually roll over to 0. - Also in SA1, fruit that you shake down will inflict damage to your Chao if it hits them. It is possible for them to die this way. SA2 fixes this because, while it is hilarious, it also sucks. Sometimes your Chao will start eating the fruit as soon as it hits them, and then immediately die once they finish
This is the real reason they exist. It was a demonstration of the stupid / awesome VMU accessory. Sonic adventure was “the” launch title for the Dreamcast and they needed to demonstrate what it could do.
Tip: if you want to find a bunch of skeleton dogs to remove animal parts go to pumpkin Hill (knuckles stage) go to the church mountain in the grave yard you'll find a skeleton dog every time you restart the stage. If you already knew about this, cool.
Funny fact. Not only happy chao from different alignments greet their bonded character differently, but they also hate their abuser differently. Hero chao simply runs away while crying. Dark chao will first *baaaah* you, then stomp his legs on the ground when you go away, and at -50 or lower relation they may run to you and try to attack you. This looks incredibly funny. Now go beat that dark evil dude.
They actually go "Eck, taaah!" If I recall. "Baaah" I think is when they surface during swimming. But let's be honest, the only reason anyone would abuse their chao is to get THAT MOTHER F***ING HAT OFF THEIR HEAD!!!!!
@@TheDragonfang134 My absolute favorite Chao had a damn hat on his head by accident and I finally decided I wanted it off. I felt sooo horrible getting it off and I bought the best fruits for him. Sadly I can't find the memory card he's on ; - ; Poor Spice, I'll find you!
That's actually based on a Chao's Hero/Dark alignment score, not if the Chao is Hero or Dark itself. The alignment score has no visible effect on adult Chao, whose alignments are fixed, but it is what determines the BEHAVIOURAL effects.
I love how he didn't make a big deal about his return or post a long explanation as to where he went, he just randomly drops in and says "yo you guys wanna hear about the fuckin uhhhh dreamcast games?"
My friends and I thought this as well which was compounded by how rare chao sickness was. I'd take my little guy to the doctor when he has dizzy eyes only to be told he was healthy. We even had a rumor that the doctor would make your chao die in a grey caccoon regardless of if it had a happy life.
as a child, i distinctly remember being absolutely distraught to the point of tears when my brother sent his chao away in the machine, begging him not to do it
Headcanon: The reason a Chao would want to wear the hat after being given a skeleton dog, is because it feels naked after getting an animal part removed. Or it just feels the same effect even if it doesn't have an animal part. So it wearing the hat makes it feel covered up again.
"Chaos is a mutated Chao" For some reason that was always painfully obvious to me, it might be because when I first played these games, my writing and reading skills were poor and I just made the connection because Chaos' name is just Chao with an s.
The amount of this I figured out as a literal child is completely baffling to me. I had like multiple cha-os chaos, angel and devil chaos, multiple breeds of every typing. I was probably like 8 when I played it, and the internet and friends definitely helped, but it's still ridiculous.
Yep same dude I had a chaos Chao as well and man that was a grind. Hell I got to a point where I didn't even play sonic adventure 2 battles normal game anymore just grind for this and phantasy star online lol. Then came middle school and halo 2 lol
I had some maganize that had this huge guide about chao breeding, stats, animals all that stuff. I think it was the first time I ever metagamed as a child
@whatsacone "looking it up" literally wasn't really even a thing at the time. You could go on GameFAQs I guess, but if they didn't have a guide then your only option was to _literally call Nintendo._ That's right, they had a phone line specifically for people stuck on games! It seems so quaint now lol
I spent over an hour learning something about a game I've never played, on a franchise I'm not a fan of, but I meme on constantly, jeezus all the colors, rarities, stats & versions. regardless, great video. I'm sure the sonic fandom appreciates this greatly.
Honestly I wish Sega would just straight up make a game where you raise Chao as like a spinoff. You'd think there'd be no audience for a game like that, but if the Pokemon breeding scene has taught me anything it's that people will sink DAYS into breeding the perfect creature, and I'd love to play a game like that. It doesn't even need to have Sonic characters in it, just put it in the Sonic universe and give players that custom character maker from Sonic Forces and I'm sure plenty of Sonic fans would love it
Hell, there was already a whole game series centered around this type of concept. Look up Monster Rancher sometime, it's not Chao Garden but it proves to me that there is definitely a market for this.
Well, they did made a chao garden spin off Sadly it was only Japanese only for phones, probably the reason they aren't doing anything like that cuz I heard that it was a rare game to have, like that Kingdom Hearts V-cast game
@@LonelySpaceDetective I have played Monster Rancher! That game and many other monster training games are my favorite genre! If only Monster Rancher wasn't dead too . 3.
Maybe the Chao Gardens are why there's so much overlap between Pokemon fans & Sonic fans? I remember how disappointed I was when I put in Sonic Heroes & learned there wasn't a chao garden. I get the feeling Project 2021 will have the Chao Gardens return at long last. I wonder what the New Chao Gardens for the 2020s games will be like?
Why would you think there would be no audience? I've always thought they should do this, for like 10 years. Every time SA1 or 2 is brought up people always mention the Chao Gardens as an amazing feature, one of the best in the games, and how they all loved it and wished it would make a return. Based on my observations I'd say there's likely a massive fucking audience for it, but SEGA is stupid and dumb with crappy marketing and people who can't read the room, so I doubt it will happen. Lots of companies today just seem out of touch.
They do fly, one of my favorite things to do as a kid was to max out their fly stat and put them at the top of the waterfall, and sometimes they’d fly and get stuck flying around the garden, other times they just drop to the floor but their jiggle physics makes it really funny to look at
"Interestingly Normal Colored Chao can start to be come transparent as you go beyond the games limits" Ah so that's how Chaos mutated into what he became, the Chaos Emeralds maxed out all of his stats without limits
@@RafilaWan Now that's my headcanon as well. I'm guessing the sheer power from the Chaos Emeralds mutated the Chao's stats so high it somehow achieved a higher state of being.

I started this video out of mild curiosity in a hot car shortly after getting food posioning(unknown to me at the time), and after about 45 minutes of this I thought my brain was rotting so I took a break and came back to this video after laying down a bit, another 15 minutes or so of watching this I was puking my guts out and cursing the entire chao race for ever existing. I threw my phone across my room vowing to never return to this video in fear of death. 3 days later I am over my food poisoning, decently hydrated, and well enough to finish what little of the video is left. I figure it can't be as crazy as I remember, but it is. I came looking for a bit of lore but the Chao transcend that and I now realize how limited my understanding was of this side area to a game I only ever played part of the first level to. I now both love and hate the entirety of the chao race. (Edit) - Please make another video covering the mod community once you have regained your sanity as I am sure it will take some time.
Usually, our last word in a conversation is "good-bye". At the end of this video, your last word was "chao", whose pronunciation is the same as "good-bye" in Italian ("ciao") and also in Portuguese ("tchau"), which means you made a sentence with two convenient meanings! What a cool coincidence, isn't it?
This was amazingly comprehensive. The one piece of information you didn't include was that the Chao gardens are region-locked for no good reason. I actually got myself the e-catalog disc in the hopes of getting myself a character Chao in my garden, but the Japanese Tiny Chao Garden that was in my GBA's temporary memory was just never recognised by the PAL version of SA2B. It was kind of annoying getting this rare disc all for it to not work in the end.
Yeah, that was my understanding? They show the warriors murdering all the Chao earlier in that scene IIRC. My interpretation was always that they were Chaos’ children too, that “Chaos is a mutated Chao” explanation feels way too weak and literal. 🙄

I get the feeling that Chao Garden is one of those things that really make Sonic Adventure 1&2 feel like flagship games. The games would be celebrated as the best Sonic games of their time even without this side mode, but having it sprinkled on top makes the entire experience that much more memorable. And it's crazy to think about those features that once existed which are now lost to time: the ability to load Chao to the Internet through Dreamcast's web browser, etc.
They could even release Chao Garden as it's own separate spin-off game and it would be guaranteed to sell well. Making money from nostalgia is all the rage these days and the kids that grew up playing SA2 are now adults so it's a no brainer.
@@spongemaster Having tried Chao Garden in my last playthrough of SA2, i find it really boring now when i put a lot of time in it in the early 2000s. When I was a kid my Sister poured, literal, hundreds of hours into the Chao garden.
She had 3 full Gardens on 2 seperate Memory Cards and somehow made time to not only raise and tend to all of her Chao, but also put most of them through Kindergarten, Races & Karate.
(I remember that she had made charts/diagrams just to keep track of what Chao were in what Gardens and on Which Memory Card.)
Sure, she had her Favorites, but all of them had unique names, stats, types & animal features.

That's pretty fuckin weird but ok.
i miss chao too 😭

“All you ungrateful Echidnas who took everything away from me, will feel my loss and despair!”
Yay 100 likes

It takes longer to legitimately obtain a chaos chao than it does to 100% Sonic Forces.
and its not even that difficult to do, at that, I used to think achieving a Chaos chao was some unholy undertaking but its apparently piss easy, only requiring a bit of grind.

OTHER FUN FACTS ABOUT CHAO:
- In the Dreamcast version, it is possible to bring your Chao from SA1 over to SA2 using the VMU... but the system isn't programmed very well and bugs are likely to occur. A silver Chao I imported looked normal in SA2 but all of his offspring were Moon Chao. Another one had all of the polygons in his model permanently scrambled up, including one in his head that stretched across the entire garden. (I had to cover it with a mask)
- In SA1, you can kill your Chao by feeding it too much.
Maybe they just die from obesity
*me going to try this out rn*
This is the real reason they exist. It was a demonstration of the stupid / awesome VMU accessory. Sonic adventure was “the” launch title for the Dreamcast and they needed to demonstrate what it could do.
Yeah, your Chao is going to live happily in a faraway forest, it says, as you hear the machine make a bunch of violent grinding noises.

Well, they did made a chao garden spin off
Sadly it was only Japanese only for phones, probably the reason they aren't doing anything like that cuz I heard that it was a rare game to have, like that Kingdom Hearts V-cast game
They do fly, one of my favorite things to do as a kid was to max out their fly stat and put them at the top of the waterfall, and sometimes they’d fly and get stuck flying around the garden, other times they just drop to the floor but their jiggle physics makes it really funny to look at
"Interestingly Normal Colored Chao can start to be come transparent as you go beyond the games limits"
Ah so that's how Chaos mutated into what he became, the Chaos Emeralds maxed out all of his stats without limits
The Master Emerald is just a 'Max Stat' chaos drive.

And in spanish (chao)
French uses Ciao Ciao as a goodbye greeting too. Thats pretty cool.
And in german ("tschau")
That's called a pun.
Is there a r/ for this?
This was amazingly comprehensive. The one piece of information you didn't include was that the Chao gardens are region-locked for no good reason. I actually got myself the e-catalog disc in the hopes of getting myself a character Chao in my garden, but the Japanese Tiny Chao Garden that was in my GBA's temporary memory was just never recognised by the PAL version of SA2B. It was kind of annoying getting this rare disc all for it to not work in the end.
I wonder if anyone's edited the multiboot rom to recognise NA and PAL yet?
Either way it won't help those poor sods who actually got the disc.
I always thought the "chao sounds" in that cutscene were chao offscreen getting stomped on.

I can't believe after all these years Sega never made a new Chao Garden.
What a missed opportunity.
Why do I envision a Chao adventure game, similar to Pokemon Mystery Dungeon? Like, instead of them speaking in "baby talk", they speak actual english to one another, and they set out on an incredible journey, possibly to stop some force of evil, or make some big discovery.
And why do I see it riddled with easter eggs to other Sega games, like Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Shinobi, Phantasy Star, and of course Sonic? And why am I dreaming of buying such a game and playing it online with friends for hours on end??
