Tutorial: How to Bag a Lining With a Vent

- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- Hello, all! I'm really hoping this tutorial isn't too hard to follow. I found that all the flipping of the garment (necessary in doing a bagged lining) a little harder to film. As always, please let me know if you have any questions!
Pattern used is B6641: butterick.mcca...

I'm by no means an advanced sewer, but I really hope you keep doing interesting tutorials and sew alongs like this and don't feel you have to do super simple ones. There are so many of those already. Loving this series, thank you for making it!
It’s my pleasure and I will definitely keep doing the “harder” things and mix in some easier ones as well. Thank you so much for watching!
Thank you Whitney for this tutorial. Nowhere in the written pattern instructions is the method to bag the sleeves so this has been so useful. I have received my fabric and lining and have bought the 'Weft' interfacing so now all I have to do is trace out the pattern and cut the fabric out and I am all ready to start! Love to Gidget xxx
Oh good! I can’t wait to hear how your jacket ends up!
Whitney, you know I'm huge fan so you can count me in as interested in any video you make! I learn something every time.
Awww! Your support is everything! Thank you and I’ll keep doing them!
If my pattern EVER comes in the mail, I will start to start. Thanks so much for all your hard work making these videos for us.
I know what you mean! I feel like everytime I’ve ordered from one of their sales it takes FOREVER to get my order. I’ve usually forgotten at least a couple of the things I ordered!
Thanks for this. I’ve been doing the B6441 sewalong and this has helped. A lot. Especially as this is my first baggged lining. Because apparently that’s how I roll.
😂 yes. Go all in!
You did such a great job on these tutorials! I cannot believe this was your first series. I discovered you two days ago because I was researching this pattern after it caught my eye. I was eyeing this regent blazer by J.Crew for such a long time, and now stumbled across this pattern and it is the perfect excuse to make my own. And now having found your tutorials, well that's all I could ask for. I have watched other videos of you too and am so ejoying them. Thank you for sharing Whitney!
This just makes my day! I’m so glad you found me and are enjoying the channel!
Whitney again you are awesome and I hope you continue to do sew along videos you are so real and for me it gives me confidence.
What a lovely comment! Thank you!
your such a cheerful lady, thanks for your insight and vid's. I love them!
That’s a lovely thing to say! Thank you!
Yes please! More tutorials. There are great and really helpful. Thanks🌸
You didn’t pick the easiest pattern for the first sew along, but it’s great for us. So many tips and tricks. Thank you so much ❤️
😂 agreed. I will get a simpler bagged tutorial together and on the channel soon!
I enjoy your tutorials. They are very easy to follow.
Yes please, a tutorial on bagging a simple lining would be gratefully watched by this follower. I was unexpectedly faced with having to do that a couple of years ago - magic, but scary!
It is scary, but magic! I can definitely do the simpler method as well!
I just love watching your tutorials, such an inspo Whitney. I've just filmed my first one yesterday, am so scared to share it. Its nerve wracking isnt it!!!! x
It is terrifying! Just do it, though. Once it’s out there it’s not as scary!
I would love a simpler bagging tutorial please. Thank you for sharing!!
Yes, I would like to see a simple jacket style bag lining tutorial Thx for sharing your tricks :)
Wow.. this seems confusing for this beginner. I think you did an amazing job explaining this and would love to see a simpler bagging project more suited to my skill level. I love your enthusiasm. One day I will be ready for this type of project.
😂 i think a simpler bagged lining tutorial is in order!
Another great tutorial 👍
Thank you for sharing. Val 🇨🇦🇬🇧❤️
I catch stitch my hems first, leaving a 1/4" lip to bag the lining to the jacket body and sleeves, so that the hem does not roll out during wearing.
That is absolutely the correct method. I will definitely do that if I’m wanting to really make a lasting jacket. Unfortunately, and sometimes to my detriment, speed wins out 😬.
D Handy
If it is slippery or a new to me project I machine baste first. This has saved me a lot of frustration as if it is wrong it is easy to undo. But if it is right it is tacked together the right way and I can sew with confidence!
That’s a great tip!
That was so interesting, but I think you have exceeded my skills. I need to find a pattern that is lined, without a vent, to try first. 🤔😍
😂. Yes. I was afraid this would get confusing. I can do the simpler bagged lining tutorial. Stay tuned!
@@TomKatStitchery Yes please I too am new and love your videos, but need one a little less challenging until I feel ready.
@@TomKatStitchery Now I know what "bagging a lining" means!! Maybe a collarless style jacket with no - vents, pockets or buttonholes. But I agree with someone else who said this tutorial was filled with tips!! Please do more sew alongs and tutorials.
Please please please do a tutorial on the lining if you can, I can’t find one that I can understand so it would be a huge help!
Yes. I can definitely do a simple bagged lining tutorial!
