I need one whole month of continuous watching and studying to be able to get to what you have done. Thanks for being honest and thanks for also sharing.
The standards we set for ourselves are so high, its so hard to get something we are truly happy with! But I suppose it helps us continue to push and get better at our art. Great video thank you!
Yeah it’s important for me too. That way I can improve in areas I’m lacking. And from doing that, I’ve gotten great tips on how to correct my mistake ☺️
@@KimDave i ordered a pattern maker seeing your videos , your pattern cutting is really clear and easy, i have found a channel i can rely on. Thankyou so much for such good work❤️❤️
Thank you for all the work you put into your video production. It's a wonderful experience. Your content is honest and I love it. So many sewing video start off with This is so easy or Your going to get this done in 20 min. Your video shows that we sewers are not alone in our quest and that frustration over "simple things" is real and that perfection takes a lot of practice. Your voice over work is right on and keeps a comfortable pace with the video. Thanks again for all the planning, shooting and editing. Nice work.
It's so useful. I never knew to do this lining. I was thinking how it has come like this when I get lined skirt like this . So sweet of you Kim. Thank you so much all the way from SriLanka. ...Asia...💕💕
I know i have the gift to sew, I made some of my wedding clothes but am always scared of taking a step forward. Seriously sis, you are a God sent to me. I am going to face my fear and hoping to share my testimony soon😘😍❤️👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Please keep pushing us, God bless you more 😘😘
Priscilla you're just so good and nice. Very very generous with your tutorials and honest too. I love your videos and they've been very helpful. God bless you. I really wish to meet you someday. I'm in Ghana just in case you ever come here or visit your country Nigeria
Gorgeous and smart! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have been staying way from vent openings, but your video built up my confidence. Love your manicure.
I just completed a coat that has a back vent like this one. It was stressful but I was able to complete it. I used Kwik Sew K4225 and the instructions are very good. Thank you for the visual, it makes more sense now so I can recreate it.
I like it. The outer fabric looks like a loose weave. Have you tried stabilizing the vent opening with fusible interfacing before lining it? Could you iron that fabric?
Thanks for the video Kim. I would appreciate in the future if you could show the pinning a little more before you sew. I was a bit confused once you started sewing the lining.
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve always struggled with the lining pattern; I never thought I should cut inward. It’s so painfully obvious once seeing your pattern. As for the even hem part, I also struggle with machine stitching, so I just hand sew everything. But as Eilen has commented, I find sewing a diagonal line from the lining corner to outer fabric corner really helps with the shape.
I totally agree on lining finishing. They could go really well or be a total pain. Thankfully I’m getting useful advice from other KDivas on how to tackle the challenge I faced in this video
Kim this skirt is so nice, I always wanted to try to make one like this, Yoy are the Best girl..😂😂 it's gonna take me some time but I'm wanna try it, Thanks for the Bleesed Lesson.
I hav been searching for any skirt slit tutorials on you tube but I only found you.so meaning u took a challenge alone. Even though it was tough. Make it simple next tm
This looks really good. It just needs pockets 😍 but idk how to add pockets to a tailored skirt like this. Don’t want to look bulky. But I also want to learn those hidden pockets with the straight flap...idk if I’m describing it right. It’s the kind of pockets you see on the back of trousers.
Hi Kim, this is great for me thank you so much for this , I really appreciate this your upload. Pls may I suggest that this mitre form of stitching corner will help reduce that excess e.g. Jamie Kemp maitre facing/ hem in this youtube . Pls if you confirm it could you let me know probably by sewing something with it ,
A 90° corner is always a bother babe...mitring is key to ensure a sharp and flat 90° corner.... The skirt is loooooooovely🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰...reminds me of high school days...
Is there a reason you choose not to sew an invisible zipper? I Love the skirt and the fit looks great but the zipper stands out on the beautiful pink fabric 13:37
The lining must match material on top . Otherwise will look bad when you move . Jacket can be flashy colours or coordinated but skirt must be similar .
I really loved this method!! and is sacry for most of of us too, the mayority of tutorials will tell you to hand stich the hem as well , but you make by machine and with no visible stiches on the outside .... On the problem corner, maybe try cliping the fabric on the diagonal so it folds easier!!...Just an idea.... But beautiful job nonetheless I always get a bit down when on other tutorials they made a beautiful garment but with not so great finishing details on the inside....
Thank you Belinda for the kind feedback. This was a scary and fun project, and I’m glad I tackled it even though not to perfection. I will keep your suggestion in mind when I’m trying this again 🤞 Hopefully it goes well when I try again
The back vent though, I actually get it done a couple several way, and the sweet part is they all turn out perfectly, this is cool, but in the opposite, I usually cut out both left and right back pieces with the vents protruding 😁😁😁😁, sounds funny right..., But the big work lies on the lining pieces......... Like I've said earlier there are several ways to do it...., And if you're going to copy me, I detected all of em with just two words of motivations to myself and that's " NO RULES ",.....so long as I can get the perfect result, I don't think there a rule to follow And that part that turn out bad, I'm sorry I had to say BAD🤗, why not close up the main fabric with a diagonal stitch and then freely join your lining...........
This is my third attempt at sewing a back vent with lining. For this one, I worked with a basic skirt pattern. Will you be trying this out?
I will definitely try it out... thank you
Hi Kim. I tried that recently and got the same results no matter how much I ripped it out and tried again. Practice, practice ...
I have tried it twice, WITHOUT a lining. Great tutorial! Thank you.
Really happy with this ☝tutorial. Wanting from a very long time. Must try definitely. M impressed.
Take a look at ua-cam.com/video/Xs0LJUhwe_I/v-deo.html and adapt to your project.
Hey Kim your honestly is what keeps me coming back for more. God bless you always

Thank you so much 😀
I love the details. I would have to watch this over and over when I make my skirt.
Thank you for sharing 🧡🧡
Kim thank you fabulous video. Question when did you close the waist band on the back or how after the vent was done. Thank you. I am stumped.

I love how neat and beautiful your sewing projects all come out, you make it look so easy 😊.
Thank you! 😊
Thank you so much for clear and complete information on the subject!
Skirt looks super cute on you. I didn't even notice the little spot that dips down till you pointed it out. Great video!
Thank you ☺️

Working on my final project for class and this is so good! thank you
Good luck!!
When neatening corners using lining, one needs to mitre the corners
We love you, and your work is amazing tnx a lot fpr your tutorials
Thanks for the video Kim. I would appreciate in the future if you could show the pinning a little more before you sew. I was a bit confused once you started sewing the lining.
This is EXCELLENT! Thank you for posting this video. The back split is really hard to sew but you made it look easier. :)
You loving this job
Great breakdown video! I have a jacket pattern with a half lining and it helped me create the bottom half of the lining for it 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve always struggled with the lining pattern; I never thought I should cut inward. It’s so painfully obvious once seeing your pattern.

Hahaha 😄😃Sister, you are PROFESSIONAL and afraid to try this, so what would I say 😂😱🙈! I FEEL YOU 😛🙈
This is perfect. It's so beautiful. I'll try this
I'm definitely doing this, this weekend. God job

Beautiful! Where do you get your tracing paper? It seems more sturdy than the flimsy stuff that has been suggested to me
Thanks Rachel ☺️ please see the pattern paper here www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B002120GTK?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
This lesson was confusing 😥... thank you soo much...
Hi! Sorry to interrupt but I wanna ask... What do you call the fabric you use in inside part of the skirt... The white color fabric
Try Mitering the hem at the vent; it will lay better! I promise!❤

Thank you very much, my dear. You helped me a lot.

Thanks for the tip babe. Appreciate it 😃
@@KimDave anytime love🤗🤗🤗 thats what family is for 🤗🤗
I think you need to add stay stiching at the vent to get the look flat and taylored look.

I’m sorry the zipper bothers you. Still perfecting fixing invisible zippers into seams ☺️

Hi, what is the material for this skirt?
Eres la mejor. 😍😍😍😍
Thnx really your videos help me a lot
Happy to help!
Kim Dave Mam can u plz upload videos on ruffle long skirt
How does one know how long a vent is, and where it should start?

Please what is the name of the machine you are using?
I used the brother ls14 domestic machine
I loved the final outcome, but maybe for a beginner like me it's too complicated
Love the video ,Kim please where can I send you some outfit request to sew
You can send an email at kimdavedesigns@gmail.com
Thanks 😊😍👍
You’re welcome
Super🤗
Hi Kim
please do a simple back vent without lining pls...
Brilliant
Thank you

I appreciate the details you provided on adding allowance to the pattern at the beginning of the video....Now I'm looking forward to a pink skirt too
Happy to hear the tutorial was useful to you
Check out other detailed videos on this. You had a good try anyway. I got it right on UA-cam too.
Will do 👌
Thanks maa sister
Thank u
Welcome
Check precious apparel she made a video explaining how the back vent can be done perfect
Still lost. I wish you would have laid the lining flat on top of the skirt to show us what side of the flaps are joined together.
I'm so like you haha 🙏 thanks
😍😍😍💐💐
Don't be scared, you can do it. You have books on tailoring that are helpful
Thank you 🙏 I’ll give it another shot and share my progress on the community page
As much as I would love to try this. You made the voice over too fast. Not getting a thing.
I can run a tutorial on how you close up the back vent very well hit me up
Skirts vents and pants fly is my fear
I think you should have used an invisible zipper.
Oh goodness
First
Yes you are hun
Is a bit hard to understand
