The psychs think I just bottle stuff up, but I self reflect and meditate instead as per the lyrics. Struggling at the moment with horrible social media comments and people being derogatory towards me in the street.
💗 Thank God for UA-cam, enabling us to play stuff from the Great Era, the 50s to the '90s. Heather Small, M People, could see off today's - with just one song! 😎
This song reflects the optimism we had in the 1990s. Our culture was thriving. Nowadays our music industry has been decimated. And there’s far too much negativity, caused by social media, bad government and crazy ideologies.

My dad passed away less than 2 months ago. This was his one of his favorite songs. I know my dad wasn't perfect man, but he was my hero. Love you forever, old man.
Heather Small has the most exquisitely beautiful voice i have heard in this lifetime. It is an absolute pleasure to listen to her voice. I admire the well written lyrics, lots of wisdom in those lines. My son asked me one day as we were driving down the highway listeng to "just for you" by the m people, it sounds like she is singing that song to God. A heavenly voice that i have admired for many years. And enjoyed listening to.
This song was playing while my parents came to visit me in hospital and my Dad told me to listen to the words and use them to help me while I was there and any time in the future when I needed to be strong. Whenever, I've had to go back to visit the same hospital and felt anxious, I say " I'm going to visit the M People " and remember my Dad's wise advice....miss you Dad, but mum's still here. Thanks Dad and the M People x
I am sure your parents would be saying the same about music of your era Richard, My parents did, I did with my kids music, but not my grandkids music. At 67 years old, I finally realised that the world actually does move on and peoples choices are not the same as mine! The music the kids follow today is their choice, their style, their world. It is just as relevant and exciting to them, as American Pie was to you and me. Living in the past is great - I do it myself! But please try not to knock later generations for their choices - it is their turn now and it gives us older ones a bad press! Incidentally, this song inspired me to achieve great things in my own personal life, and brings a tear or two every time I hear it, even now! Heather Small is an incredibly talented singer and, in my opinion has never got credited nearly enough for how good that talent is! 🙏🙏🙏
For all of the people suffering with mental health however mild or severe I am sure there is a Hero in all of you, I am positive that you can find it. Love this track 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵❤️

To this day I genuinely believe Heather Small is the best female singer ever. So unique, soulful and powerful. The UK can't be beaten for class acts as this.
I don’t know how this ended up in my feed. Grateful, I remember them well. Every song was a hit, love love her voice. Man, I miss music like this😢 My heart is literally breaking thinking of how enjoyable music once was. Thanks for the memories!!!!
For me, the 90s was the last truly great decade for good music. I used to love listening to the radio and chart music. M People was a solid and talented band. This is such a beautiful and meaningful track ❤
I was only a child in the 1990s but I vividly remember this song on the radios and TV. It gives me goosebumps and makes me emotional/nostalgic: it evokes memories of my innocent childhood and my uncle who took his own life in 1999. Such a powerful voice, superb song, and beautiful instrumental sounds.
Evelyn Houston ... I too SINCERELY hope that YOU ARE still continuing your fight while listening to this timeless classic track with the volume turned up as loud as possible!?! xXx
Phenomenal song, if you pay attention to how it's constructed as a whole , saxophone, piano, drums, backing etc, it's up there with the best. Love this song, well composed and well executed, and the words are so fitting to find the inner you when you feel you are lost in a tide of emotional turmoil
Derek you are so right, but interestingly the guitar chords are very simply, only 4 chords, they are just played in a different order in the verses and chorus. On my chord sheet it's flagged as "intermediate" which is strange because I've had far more difficult songs flagged as "beginner". The real difficulty with the song is finding a strumming rhythm that fits the song.
My cousin Andrew Tempest who served in the Royal Signals was the nicest person you could ever wish to meet, had this song played at his funeral, and even now after all these years every time I here this song it upsets me and reminds me what a fantastic person Andrew was. I just wish that I could of got to know him better. You are sadly missed, and my condolences go out to your family. I wish that I could be half the person that he was. Andrew was taken far too early. He should have been given more time to spread the joy and kindness that came from him. The world would be a nicer place If people could be more like Andrew.

Sometimes the river flows but nothing breathes A train arrives but never leaves, it's a shame Oh, life like love that's walked out of the door Of being rich or being poor, such a shame But it's then, then that faith arrives To make your feelings alive And that's why, you should keep on aiming high Just seek yourself and you will shine You've got to search for the hero inside yourself Search for the secrets you hide Search for the hero inside yourself Until you find the key to your life In this life, long and hard though it may seem Live it as you'd live a dream, aim so high Just keep the flame of truth burning bright The missing treasure you must find Mmm-mmm-mmm Because you and only you alone Can build a bridge across the stream Weave your spell in life's rich tapestry Your passport to a feeling supreme You've got to search for the hero inside yourself Search for the secrets you hide Search for the hero inside yourself Until you find the key to your life You've got to search, inside yourself Deep, deep down inside yourself, yeah You've got to search, inside yourself You've got to search for the hero inside yourself (ooh) Search for the secrets you hide Search for the hero inside yourself Until you find the key to your life Search for the hero inside yourself (oh yeah) Search for the secrets you hide (all of the secrets you hide) Search for the hero inside yourself (you'll find a hero) Until you find the key to your life You've got to search inside yourself You've got to search
I've always LOVED the stories that songs hold. Tonight at my daughters singing lessons, her teacher gave her this one. OMG, the warm fuzzy emotional feeling that overcome me. The song choice and timing for me couldn't be more ideal!
I found this song on a compilation CD I found at the flea market. I hadn't heard or even thought of it in over 20 years, yet I totally remembered it and it's beautiful. Life is kinda cool sometimes.
Listening in November 2020. This song has so much meaning for us right now and all the year through. An anthem for key workers, hospital, care and front line staff and those of us struggling to live through our crazy lockdowns and restrictions. In fact, a song for us all. May the year 2021 be a better year for us all ❤

I'd agree 100% with that. I wasn't in a good way earlier this year, and three blood transfusions, a CT Scan, plus other treatments, got me on the road to recovery. I can't praise the doctors, nurses and the smiling Filipino girl who brought me my coffee and toast each morning enough, once I was in a fit enough state to eat it!

Saw Heather last Summer at Victorious, with my beautiful daughter. Still awsome! Heather always delivers & brings in a massive, happy crowd! She is sooo uplifting! Love u Heather! 🎉🎉🎉
Was great hearing Heather Small on The Masked Singer after all these years. Legend! This was one of my fav songs growing up. Still is, actually.
Heather is right... There is a hero inside of us all we just got to search for it! Stay safe everyone ✌️♥️
Sometimes the river flows but nothing breathes
A train arrives but never leaves, it's a shame
Oh, life like love that's walked out of the door
Of being rich or being poor, such a shame
But it's then, then that faith arrives
To make your feelings alive
And that's why, you should keep on aiming high
Just seek yourself and you will shine
You've got to search for the hero inside yourself
Search for the secrets you hide
Search for the hero inside yourself
Until you find the key to your life
In this life, long and hard though it may seem
Live it as you'd live a dream, aim so high
Just keep the flame of truth burning bright
The missing treasure you must find
Mmm-mmm-mmm
Because you and only you alone
Can build a bridge across the stream
Weave your spell in life's rich tapestry
Your passport to a feeling supreme
You've got to search for the hero inside yourself
Search for the secrets you hide
Search for the hero inside yourself
Until you find the key to your life
You've got to search, inside yourself
Deep, deep down inside yourself, yeah
You've got to search, inside yourself
You've got to search for the hero inside yourself (ooh)
Search for the secrets you hide
Search for the hero inside yourself
Until you find the key to your life
Search for the hero inside yourself (oh yeah)
Search for the secrets you hide (all of the secrets you hide)
Search for the hero inside yourself (you'll find a hero)
Until you find the key to your life
You've got to search inside yourself
You've got to search

Rugby World Cup at Old Trafford, Heather had the whole stadium rocking to this.
I've always LOVED the stories that songs hold. Tonight at my daughters singing lessons, her teacher gave her this one. OMG, the warm fuzzy emotional feeling that overcome me. The song choice and timing for me couldn't be more ideal!
Used to love when this advert come on tv

A beautiful and powerful song sung beautifully by Heather.
I found this song on a compilation CD I found at the flea market. I hadn't heard or even thought of it in over 20 years, yet I totally remembered it and it's beautiful. Life is kinda cool sometimes.
Heather is amazing vocally but the whole group are talented
Listening in November 2020. This song has so much meaning for us right now and all the year through. An anthem for key workers, hospital, care and front line staff and those of us struggling to live through our crazy lockdowns and restrictions. In fact, a song for us all.
May the year 2021 be a better year for us all ❤
Heather. Astonishing performance.
With the biggest challenge the world is facing right now I just wanna say to everyone forget that for a few minutes and just listen to this it definitely lifted me it’s just amazingly beautiful. Great stuff m people.
Heather Small is currently on her 2016 Tour in the UK and Ireland!!!
+Heather Small | M People Heather is just a wonderful artist.
Heather Small | The Voice Of M People heather, gosh would love to hear your voice, I have never been star struck, most celebrities have huge ego's, but I would be dumb struck ever have pleasure of meeting you.
I've always thought Heather's voice sounds kinda saxophone-like on its own, but alongside a saxophone her voice is magic! Like Jam to buttered bread.
Heather Small fantastic voice

Reminds me of my mum she used to love m people so many times had it blasting when she had few wines with my dad. I'd give anything to walk into that again. Thanks m people for the happy memories
Comment rester de glace devant tant de grâce ? Et le texte est si beau. Tant de belles choses en nous.
Oh I love this song... I just had it in mind thought... We could all do with a bit of a lift through this crazy time for all... Don't let this pandemic win... I lost my mum may 2020 but hey mum you given me the strength and a purpose to fight... Your breath lies in me peace of your heart lives on... So all who have lost or going through a rough time... Play this and fight this together... 🌍❤️🤗😷Xxx

Thank you Anthony. God bless you too & your family. 🙏
@@coletteclarke9019 I was fortunate to see m people in my home town of Glasgow, 1994- 95, with a close relative who sadly is gone. There's always that one song that sticks and for some reason I've been tuning in recently. 👍
@@anthonymcgregor8112 Sorry for your loss... The memories will always keep locked in our hearts they will remain forever. I was born in Glasgow.. 👍 My mum loved M people... Expecially Heathers voice... Such a beautiful singer. 👌
Goosebumps every time I heard to this song since..
I remember this song from one of the endless summers in the mid-90s which I spent at my gran's house - hours and hours playing in the sun in her backyard. She passed away in 2014. Those were the best days of my life.
I'm here because I'm currently choosing the music for my mum's funeral. Sh used to play this through the house when cleaning. Such good memories
I remember it from a car advertisement.
TheGroundedAviator the bloke who drove the car was lush
Maureen Lydiard His name?
Snowbird god bless her
Derry Girls brought me here because I liked this song. I am an American who was a teenager in the mid 90s but I don't remember this song being popular in the states. It should have been!
michladd24 this brought me here too.
I was a teenager of the 1990’s growing up in near Melbourne.
I do t have too many memories listening to this song back then but I’m thankful for Derry Girls for bringing me here
Always remember this from the Peugeot ad! Great song, brilliant car!
Absolutely loved m people when I was younger, still listening just as much now as I did back then ❤❤
Up there with Whithey, Celine and Miriah. What a voice.
They are all wailers. Heather is better than the three put together IMO.
She’s not dead
@@lucapalmieri5394 I know she's not dead but thanks. Only poor Whitney gone too soon.
To ALL THE MEMBERS AND STAFF OF THE N.H.S.MANY THANKS FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO. YOU, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU ARE .............. " REMARKABLE HEROES " WE ALL THANK YOU & SALUTE YOU IN THIS CURRENT CRISIS!! MANY THANKS & KIND REGARDS TOO YOU ALL .Many thanks and Kind regards Colyn.
Just one of the most expressive voices ever, so touches your soul...
Another awesome song. This was played for the students when they graduated from m daughters high school at the end of the year. A perfect song for the occasion. Perth Western Australia.
I love it! I love her! Soulful music with a Christian tone! Reminds me that we are all brothers and sisters! We are!! Praise God!
Great song, great lyrics, and above all... great singer.
I was in love with this woman yrs ago...! Simply beautiful ♥️

Beautiful woman. Her voice is something else. Love this song. This song makes me think of life and everything I've been through. She is powerful ❤❤❤❤
Every so often a pretty unique song comes along. This was one of them..... inspired.
Another Favourite Song of Mine and Relevant Today, for Everyone, with this 'Pandemic' Stay Strong, Stay Safe and Protect Our NHS; ' Search for the Hero Inside Yourself' God Bless XXXX
Today the Tories voted to include the NHS in trade deals with other countries, if you want to protect the NSH vote for those who protect it.
