    Just bought a used non functional 1070+ and found color wheel ribbbon broken, probably from repair attempt. But the main problem was open lamp door switch. No power, and took me some hours to figure out the problem that the switch was broken. Fixed the ribbon, as per your previous video. Would have taken me some time to notice but was kind of checking it because of your video, so thanks!

    Nice repair Frank! This unit looked like it was removed from the scrapyard. The discoloration of the plastic was insane! But I love to see older and neglected machines come back to life. I just finished repasting and thorough cleaning of my 2011 MacBook Pro 13 inch. Also replaced the old (sirca 2014) 128bg SSD with a brand new 1TB model. Unit is brand as new again. Only problem is that internal speakers are shot (really disintegrated and torn) so I use a cheap Bluetooth speaker instead. It goes strong after 11 years, doing all I want, no need to be replaced as such! Keep on repairing buddy!

    The European model number of this projector is W1070 /W1070+ The exhaust fan is a very common problem with most Benq projectors. Most overheating issues are related to this fan which Frank replaced. In fact I had one which was going off after over an hours or so and temp light came on. I replaced the fan and all good. I guess you could spray the magic plastic liquid on the psu to replace the caps in there. Lol

    Appreciate the videos! They have helped a ton on my BenQ 1085st. I do still have a problem… I just replaced the capacitor for the power board. Now when I turn on the projector it turns on for about 3-5 seconds (just enough time for all the fans to turn on), then shuts off before the lamp turns on. No overheating indicator lights or anything. The power button continues to blink green. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

      Why did you change a capacitor and which capacitor? This sounds like more power supply issues to me. What is the voltage to the ballast? If its 150(or 300 if your mains is 220/240) and not a solid 385DC, then your main power supply isnt starting the PFC section.
      But I would need to know the whole situation. whatever caused you to replace the capacitor may be a deeper issue.

    Hi Frank,
    I've repaired my W1075 twice (lamp and fan) thanks to your videos-fantastic work you're doing. Now I have a new issue: the projector starts normally and displays the screen as usual, but after a few minutes, it turns off automatically with no signs of light or noise whatsoever (like it’s been unplugged). I can't restart it right away as the LED is off (again, like it’s disconnected), but after some time, the light reappears and I can start it again. Have you ever encountered this issue? I feel I might need to change the power board, as it looks like there’s a fault, but that’s just a wild guess.
    Thanks for your help.
    A big fan!

      Thank you! I really liked the HT1075. That sounds like you have a fan reversed or a lamp that is running too hot. I suspect the thermal overload switch (mounted to the blower fan) is tripping and as it takes a few min to cool down and reset. It would happen really fast without any warning. Some lamps from amazon use the wrong IR cut coating and you can heat up the projector quickly.Make sure the lamp has a proper reddish coating on the glass. Go back over your fans and make sure they are blowing the right way. If the exhaust fan is blowing in, that can do it. The short of it , it is rapidly overheating(I suspect) so you need to find whats not letting it cool down.

    Hi Frank, nice repair on this one, thanks for all the great detail!
    How could you tell by looking that the two caps were bad?
    I have a 620st that won’t power up and I’m wondering if it’s an issue with the power supply also. When I plug it in the power led turns red, the power button glows green, no other lights, and the projector doesn’t do anything when the power button is pressed. Very occasionally when I plug it in the power led is orange and blinks green about 8 times when I press the power button, but doesn’t power on. And very very rarely it actually powers on and works once, but after a normal power down it won’t start again.
    Appreciate any clues you may have, and thanks again!

      It does sound power supply and maybe even capacitor related. I could tell physically by the condition of the top. The electrolyte had leaked out the center of the pressure relief cut. They should be flat on top, not bulged at all. Id check all the low voltage output caps for sure. I would not be surprised to see a few doing the same thing.

    Hey Frank! Great video, I've got a BenQ HT1075 and when we plug the power cable in (and no other cables), the PowerLED is red, and the power symbol is green. TEMP and LAMP LEDs are off. The projector isn't starting. I've explore the web for some answers but haven't gotten anything solid, this LED configuration isn't mentioned in the manual. I've even taken out the lamp and the LED situation does not change. Do you know what the likely culprits could be or what I could do?

      I hate to say it, but I have seen that and its usually a bad mainboard. I have yet to find what causes the failure which is frustrating. I have heard that the voltage regulators can fail but I haven't seen that myself yet.

    Hey frank, I have the UK version of this model. I was using it the other day and the entire unit just shut off randomly and now I only get a red POWER L.E.D and the green light around the actual power switch. The lamp looks ok but it will no longer power cycle and just fails to boot.
    Would the projector fail to boot if the lamp failed? I cannot find any info online regarding a solid power LED. I'm thinking maybe the ballast board?
    Cheers Frank.

      Hello! I would try a new lamp first. That is what I would suspect. Also, without knowing that the lamp is good, you may end up running in circles. If the unit tries to start and then just doesn't, I would try a new lamp first. Basically if you press power, hear the fans and color wheel start, then I would start at the lamp. Ballast failures are fairly rare in these. Usually the only fail when people use cheap lamps or lamps from amazon.

    Hi Frank, i have Benq HT1075 and whenever i power on my HT1075 the red light lamp blinks. But my concern here is that i have used it for approx 40-50 hours and there after i open it after 2 years. After power on this projector why the lamp is showing red light blinking as the lamp was very less used. Kindly suggest.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  Рік тому

      Understandable. For what it's worth the lamp led only means the lamp can't start. Not necessarily that it is bad. A stuck color wheel, failing capacitor etc can cause a lamp to not light and throw that error. It also depends on where you got the last lamp from. Some cheap lamps could fail just sitting. I can't say what is going on in your case entirely but I'd start with maybe giving it a vacuuming in case it's dust on the color wheel sensor.

      Could it be a fan malfunctioning/overheating problem? This will cause the lamp to turn off after a while

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  2 роки тому

      @@iyoman9245 it could do that. If the temp led flashes after the lamp turns off, that is likely.
