I had a customer who had this problem, luckily io had a spare ballast cable which I sent to him along with a new lamp cable. He had fitted the lamp cable wrong way around. We managed to get it fixed in the end. I have stripped these in the past and not impressed at all as I put it back together.
What do you think about Optoma's design screw up here? Relying on the end user to make sure their plug is installed the right way... Lol, oh Optoma...
Great job Frank. That connector is crazy lose. It will be upside down as well, which won't help with the issue. Zip tie is not a good idea, it can melt. Maybe some of that silicon wire, or fiberglass insulation wire. I have picked up an older JVC DLA-X500R for $60, The lamp does not turn on at all. Most likely a ballast issue.

Excellent job Frank, just had to do the same to mine. My only problem after putting it back together is now my control panel or indicator lights are not working. I’m guessing maybe a problem with that ribbon cable.
Any suggestions?

You probably don't have the ribbon cable seated all the way or it slipped. The only thing to do it open it back up and check. If the remote works, then you know for sure. Sometimes it takes 3-4 taking it apart and putting it back together to get it working. After you reseat the cable, try it out before putting the case screws back in.
A fake repair rule I have is " if you put the case screws in before testing, it will never work." But if you test it before putting the case screws in, it will work everytime!

Hi Frank, we need help with a viewsonic px-700hd can’t find a color wheel for it and after watching a few of your vids we dbl checked and the color wheel kinda sputters, moves slowly and stops? We replaced lamp and housing but it may have been the color wheel? Bc we still hvnt been able to use it and it was purchased sept of 2021 no problem until it started dimming then didn’t turn on the next day? No info out there specifically about this projector and it’s our first. Sad

Thank you so much! Love the projector and it is our first one. Unfortunately there’s very lil help with these and they seem to be gaining in popularity. No parts numbers came back in a search query on viewsonics page, no clue what we are doing obviously. Husband is a seriously skilled fix it yourself guy but this projector has been down since we changed the bulb:(

It's the DMD fan. It's next to the lens. Opposite side from the lamp
