Hey Jordy, you're spot on regarding using Helmsman finish!!! My wife and I replaced our front door with a huge, thick Mahogany door and use Helmsman exterior finish... That was 20 years ago and it still looks like it is brand new!!! Wonderful finish and made to last a looong time even outside! Thanks for sharing with everyone! Keep up your new yearly tutorials!!!

I used a Spar Urethane on an Oak table 40 years ago, it looks as good today as when I finished it. I also recommend it. Flower pot looks good. Just remember sometimes you get the bull, sometimes you get the horn!
Minwax Spar urethane is the shit! That's what I use on all my outdoor things.

I was wondering what you used for outside stuff, I didn't ask though, I figured I'd figure it out if/when I carve something for outside. I do have a question though, when you make a flower pot holder/ flower pot type piece, do you cut all the way through it so water can drain out through the bottom? Put maybe an extra coat of sealer on the inside to protect the wood?

Evil i got theis log from.the beach and it was rotton all the way threw, i think it better that way, as water cant pool in the bottom and rot away the wood, i also dont seal inside because maybe it will kill what ever u plant in it,
Onnthe bottom i just screw a piece of tin to keep the dirt inside and wter can flow out
