    Lyrics:
Lay your hands into my head, I've been rude
I don't care what you do
So much heart is not enough, I've seen few
Who treat me like you do
    My foolish friend
Don't try to live my life
    Upon this weary line
    My foolish friend
Don't tell me if I'm right
Teenage tears the saving grace of this fool
    But no one's watching you
Save this mirror for your face where there are two
    No matter what you choose
    My foolish friend
Don't try to live my life
    Upon this weary line
    My foolish friend
Don't tell me if I'm right
    When my chameleon mouth
    Is already studded
    My foolish friend
Don't try to live my life
    Upon this weary line
    My foolish friend
Don't try to live my life

Mark Hollis, RIP. What a smile. What a performer. Most importantly, what a father. Why do the good ones always die too soon?

They had such a unique sound. You can hardly compare them to other bands of the New Romantic scene. Their songs are instantly recognizable whilst having complex harmony. Each album is a masterpiece. I hope that generations to come will not sleep on their music.

I doubt there was a better produced band ...ever. The songs and vocals are magical but the fact that you can hear every instrument without them clashing or overpowering each other is what I love about these classic tracks ....soulful, tuneful, full of emotion ..they just grab you and never let go ...RIP Mark Hollis, truly an underrated singer from such an underrated band.

Carissimo Mark, quanto mi hai insegnato in questo anno e mezzo che conosco la tua grandissima anima e la tua musica! Mi hai dato e continui a darmi così tanto, nessuna persona intorno a me mi ha mai insegnato tanto.

And who'd have thought you could suck worse than the 90s? Well all that follows can, continues to do and forever will be so. Always room for disimprovement I always say.

my polish friend. The guy had a friend from Poland and he wrote a song for him. But for some strange reason he was shy to say it and he wrote in the title my foolish friend. Still in the song he says my polish friend. But why hide it? If you dedicate a song to your friend say it in the title and cut this foolish stuff. What's the use to say one thing and write an other? This way you dont honor your polish friend that you wrote a song for.

Saw them play in Hannover around 1985, touring with their It's My Life album. Great concert. Perhaps the best concert I ever saw. Warm-up band didn't show up, so the boys came out at the beginning of the concert when the warm-up band was supposed to play and told the audience that they were sorry about the warm up band, but would it be okay if they just played a longer set... I just remember Mark coming out with long hair covering his face and a pair of dark sunglasses, singing those long drawn out notes which he did best, and wondering where the new wave image from their previous All you wanna do is Talk Talk video had gone. Then the long keyboard intro on Such a Shame with all of the re-historic animal sounds played at volume 10 throbbing out before the skidding sound brought keyboard back down to a simple drum beat and Hollis bellowing out the opening with the line "Such a Shame". When it's happening in front of you, sometimes you don't even know how great it is until it's far into the past...

Love the 80s music and love the Talk Talk sound. A while back, one of our most favorite songs was It's My Life, and up to this day, it still is. But then I had an album and listened to it all the time, great music and great sound, this song included. Amazing and timeless.

I have always loved and been fascinated by this man’s vocals and I don’t understand at times what he is singing about, but I will use the words of John Lennon when he was talking about Bob Dylan he said, it doesn’t matter what he’s singing about,it’s how he sings it, which really is absolutely fantastic, but I have to say I am delving into this man’s work so much and I am unprepared for this, what this beautiful mind blowing gentleman is doing to me at this moment, I cannot take it in, I am reduced to tears,His voice, is delivery of notes, his music, his key changes, this man was a total genius 👏👏👏👏🌹🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The song was written by Hollis and Brenner but finally recorded with Phil Ramocon (appears in the video as the black guy in the factory) who was intended to become the new keyboard player. The song was planned to be lead singel for LP "A Chameleon Hour" which was never released because Hollis met Tim Friese-Greene and Ramocon was pushed aside although he continued as a session and tour musician.

They initially got big on the new wave and new romantic movements, before intentionally getting very avant-garde and anti-radio with their music. Mark Hollis didn't care about mainstream appeal. He was in it for the art of songwriting and making great albums. The trilogy of Colour of Spring, Spirit of Eden, and Laughing Stock is one of the greatest transformation periods of any musical group. They became more than just a pop band. They became a truly unique, singular band.
