I am speechless. I have watch hundreds of woodworking and artistic videos. Honestly, this is the most impactful one I have ever seen. I mean it. The respect you have for the tree is obvious. The music is absolutely appropriate. The narrative is perfect. The filming says it all. The emotional presence matches the raw power of the process. The final product reveals an amazing talent and experience. Thank you master.
@@melhawk6284Out of curiosity (I've never turned), how are you supposed to deal with knots? Cut them out before turning? What if you do unexpectedly encounter them while removing material?
@cmshap sharp tools and hope, in my case! And a bit slower speed. You catch a knot the wrong way, something will give, and depending on the type of wood, it won't be the knot!
My only critique is those should be centerpieces. Placed somewhere that you can walk all the way around it, not against the wall. Great work man, the passion for your work is very apparent.
I love the glass of water, showing us how balanced everything really was despite it looking very unbalanced. Looks crazy seeing the big of a log flailing around!
Thanks for the longer videos. This weekend I will buy the steel for my lathe. I've gathered all of the pieces, shaft, bearings, motor, controller, etc. Time to get it done because I'm not getting any younger. I have a couple of smaller lathes and finance this hobby with a day job.
It's an absolutely stunning piece of art!!! You are a true artist if you are able to visualize it in a piece of wood. 👏🏼 Please keep inspiring people to something beautiful!
What can I say that someone has not already said. I can turn wood, but not like you, not even close!!!!!!! Love and respect!!!!!!! From Detroit Michigan,U S A.
Wish it was longer. Amazing work sir. And the audio setup as a companion while you work is amazing. Soo good! Please consider to make it longer. New fan.
This is quite emotional watching and listening for me. You and my dad would get along. He was artistic , creative and an inventor. Sadly, he was killed in a plane crash in 1964 when I was 18 maybe as I get older I become more emotional but after all these years, especially watching and listening as you create I wish he were here, I miss his physical presence thou I still experience his essence 🙏. He was fluent speaking German.
Your work is incredible and so appropriate that the music is Wagner‘s Tristan und Isolde , my dad player it in the evening on 33 1/3 records , it became my favorite, romantic and for me emotional and dynamic! Very fitting it building as you create your beautiful collaboration with the tree and its wood 👌👍✨
That last comment is ridiculous. Trees are a renewable resource. Art gives pleasure and meaning in life. Applaud the man for his hard won skillset and leave the negative comments in a (wooden) drawer somewhere out of sight.
There is a market for this on UA-cam. Love it! My recommendation is to begin adding dialogue. Walk the viewer through what you are doing. Let us hear your voice and get to know you. Will send your channel too the next level. The music only doesn’t let us feel as apart of the experience as we could be. Excited for more content!
Stunning, gobsmacked at the results but HEART POUNDING when I saw the initial set up on the lathe! But hey, I can see you know what you're doing! Beautiful job!
Those a absolutely amazing!!! I wish that video had shown the burning process and been quite a bit longer. To tackle something of that size was amazing to watch 😊 I was just looking at your laithe and wondering if it started life as a wheel ballancer? It could juat be that huge gard at the back (beginning of the video) that's making me think of wheel balancing machines 😅
Respekt. 🤗
I have a feeling that you would really like joep beving. My absolute favorite modern composer.... He's such an amazing artist and musical craftsman, such as yourself.
I love the work but don’t understand one thing. After you turn it on the lathe how does the grain come out so rough vs. smooth even in the vertical as apposed to the turning direction?
You my friend have ball's as big as that piece of wood and the confidence and talent to make it all work out! Just keeping that balanced was a task in it's self.
Absolutely madness! 😮 I am curious as to how they hold up over time though? Being that thin I would think they may have a tendency to crack and become unstable?
@ Oh wow that’s interesting. Maybe it has something to do with it being more flexible when it’s thinner?! Either way that’s a good bit of info to file away in case I ever decide to test my fate with turning a 2 ton log 😂. Cheers my friend! Stay safe!
Beautiful work! 👏 I wonder what you do to prevent cracking as it looses moisture over time. Also wanted to see how you finish it but I get if it's a secret haha
After seeing so many people who think they're artists because they make random things that is total meaningless, I'm thrilled to see a real artist making such a beautiful piece, congratulations, it's amazing
Beeindruckend, schreibe normalerweise nie Kommentare, muss aber sagen „feier dich und deinen Style“. Nehme an dieses Objekt steht beim genannten Juwelier am Tegernsee?
Im assuming you torched them (either that, or flashed in a kiln maybe?) im curious as to how you removed the springwood layers so cleanly... is it just patience and a wire brush or are you blasting them with something?

That is a really nice and encouraging comment. Thank you
That giant log spinning with no tailstock is wild!
Gave me the damn CHILLS... So did the knots! Wrist breakers if things go sideways!

The most astounding thing is 8:44 how thin those walls are, without breaking through, which makes it light enough 9:38 for one person to carry! 😮🏆
The smaller vessel is only 3,6kg in weight
Wow😮 it's craziest woodturning I've ever seen 😢 phenomenal 😍
I've never seen wood turning at this level/scale. Absolutely beautiful.
Love them! We have to see the finishing process!!
My only critique is those should be centerpieces.
Placed somewhere that you can walk all the way around it, not against the wall. Great work man, the passion for your work is very apparent.
Jep
This is incredible work! I just wished I could have seen more of your process, because this was a joy to watch. 👍
Thanks
I love the glass of water, showing us how balanced everything really was despite it looking very unbalanced. Looks crazy seeing the big of a log flailing around!
From a mere hobby turner in Texas - my hat is off to you. Absolutely stunning. Cheers!
Thanks for the longer videos.

Impresionante trabajo amigo!
Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷
I like the ridges with the sand blasting. Nice touch.
I need more videos. This is such a soothing thing to watch.
Wish it was longer. Amazing work sir. And the audio setup as a companion while you work is amazing. Soo good! Please consider to make it longer. New fan.
Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your story with me.
Seeing that ring being cut out perfectly centralised while the big log spins is just hypnotising.
It's a wonderful and beautiful work of art
Your technology is the best on the planet❤❤❤🎉
Nice to meet another Artist, Keep up the great work mate.
That’s the coolest wood turning I’ve seen in a while
You can use them like an ambiental light 🤔 if you whant. But put on them just varnish 🤔 nice! Good job! Very interesting! 👏👏👏
Bloody Brilliant. No more needs to be said. I will be sharing this with my turning group.
Thanks for the support!

Wow! That is sculpturally stunning! Amazing 🧡

You're right. It's all a development, personally, technically, and the decision of what I want to show and what not.
You are a brave and talented man thank you for taking the time to share 🌞
Thanks
Stunning, gobsmacked at the results but HEART POUNDING when I saw the initial set up on the lathe!
But hey, I can see you know what you're doing!
Beautiful job!
Beautiful work!!! I'm so glad that you trimmed off the excess! I see so many turners on YT that use a gouge on crazy shapes and it is sooo annoying!!
I have to produce, not play around.
Absolutely a stunning piece of art.
Omgoodness I can smell the wood! 🥰Above and beyond incredible 🪵
Amazing work, you're much braver than I turning something that large off balance like that.
BTW You need a dust collector brother!!
Thank you, very beautiful!
I loved every second. I can’t wait to see your finishing process. I have so many questions!
LOVE THE BACK GROUND MUSIC!
Nice!
Absolutely mesmerising!
Beautiful work of art,
Wow that's smart looks amazing as well I like them
Hard work and talent, wonderful!
You honored that tree perfectly ,beautiful transformation !!!!! 🌲🌹

Beautiful work
Wauw, amazing on so many levels. Much respect. ❤
A true artist! Very beautiful work!❤
Keep on going bro, I love to see this kind of work and wanted to inspire you, God bless ❤😊
Very impressive!
Respekt.
I was expecting Vincent Prlce to come out in a mad scientist costume with this music!
More likely, the jewelry store owner sees the vases Benjamin has delivered and drops dead from happiness.
Wonderful work ❤
Amazing …just amazing -love from California ❤
I wish you would show how you got that spiky pattern at the end. It looks incredible!
Absolutely incredible
That lathe is a work of art too!! That wood matches the size of your balls as well. Fn amazing 👏
I cannot believe those things were turned without support from the tailstock side. Holy crap!
Hahaha your full of it mate 😂 your good but messed up around 4:40
Outstanding!
I have a feeling that you would really like joep beving. My absolute favorite modern composer.... He's such an amazing artist and musical craftsman, such as yourself.
Masterpiece❤
Wow ! The biggest I've made is a fruit plate that is 46x16cm! I'm far away from you! But I may do it listening Tristan opening! 🥰🥰🥰
😘👍😉
Great!
holy crap, I thought this was going to be some AI nonsense! Those are fabulous 👍
wow, that is pretty epic...
Wundervolle Arbeiten! Cooler Typ!
Senza parole 🥇🔝
That was great, thanks. What is the purpose of offsetting the log in the lathe, rather than bolting it on straight?
Grain structure gets more interesting
Music matches the mood of the sadness of this healthy life interrupted…😢😢😢😢
Maybe you should find some other entertainment than woodworking channels...
That's amazing, although if I tried that would be my death. That's man art brother!
so beautiful.
These pieces are works of art!
I love the work but don’t understand one thing. After you turn it on the lathe how does the grain come out so rough vs. smooth even in the vertical as apposed to the turning direction?
And people call me crazy for turning much smaller pieces. 😁
Good stuff, I enjoyed watching. Take care
You my friend have ball's as big as that piece of wood and the confidence and talent to make it all work out! Just keeping that balanced was a task in it's self.
Please be safe! Incredible feat!
Thanks
Ficou muito bonito mano! Parabéns 🇧🇷
Would love to see a video with much much greater detail of some of your techniques. Some of this I just can't wrap my head around!
He'll ya brother keep up the grate work.
Müthiş bir incelik böyle kaba bir agaçtan çıkarmak 👏👏
I am jelly! Fantabulous large turning. Love the raised grain. By any chance, did you sand blast the soft grain to raise the hard grain?
Amazing...however, we need a longer video --- too many steps missing
Absolutely madness! 😮 I am curious as to how they hold up over time though? Being that thin I would think they may have a tendency to crack and become unstable?
The opposite is the case. Because they are so thin, they don't crack.
@
Oh wow that’s interesting. Maybe it has something to do with it being more flexible when it’s thinner?! Either way that’s a good bit of info to file away in case I ever decide to test my fate with turning a 2 ton log 😂. Cheers my friend! Stay safe!
Even with all the big bolts it’s seems incredibly that you can turn that log without a tailstock.
Respekt, phantastisch .....Glückwunsch
Wow
Epic, but sad, that you didn't show, how did they became black and chunky (there were only turned horizontal stripes)
Oh man…those are incredible!! What did you use for the stain? I think you need to show us how you did that please
Waterstain, nothing special…
Beautiful work! 👏
I wonder what you do to prevent cracking as it looses moisture over time.
Also wanted to see how you finish it but I get if it's a secret haha
If the pieces are thin, 3-5 mm, they will not crack
@benjaminplanitzer ah, really cool. Thanks
After seeing so many people who think they're artists because they make random things that is total meaningless, I'm thrilled to see a real artist making such a beautiful piece, congratulations, it's amazing

👍
I want to know more about the texture of the vases. There's a lot more going on than we see in the video
9:08: Draw a circle, 9:09 Now draw the rest of the owl. How did you finish them or get to that final texture?
I don't earn my money with UA-cam, but by selling my art. That's why I don't do tutorials. There are some things that are my trade secret.
wow
i need that lathe beatiful, work
Even the music is better at 2x speed
Музыка не в тему , под такую музыку хочется умирать только
How did he create the feathered look though?
This tree was at least 54 years old. Same age as me. 😢😢😢
Im assuming you torched them (either that, or flashed in a kiln maybe?) im curious as to how you removed the springwood layers so cleanly... is it just patience and a wire brush or are you blasting them with something?
