In this woodworking video I use a woodturning lathe to turn an economy river bowl out of a blank I made from poplar burl and epoxy resin.

The bowl is truly a magnificent piece, the blue really brings all the colours out.

Think of it as an image of a river from the air - the wood is the land, and the blue epoxy is the river.
The wood has really nice grain and the resin looks nice with the wood I like how you made the river bowl it is magnificent. You are a brilliant craftsman and master woodturner. Thanks for a fabulous video Amanda xx
This piece turned out so beautiful as I knew it would because all your pieces turn out that way. Such an ingenious way of flipping over the pieces to form the bowl. Absolutely love it!!

@@JackMackWoodturning No I have not. I do a lot of projects with wood, trees from the property, turn them into little furniture pieces and art, and have a little experience with resin work, but lacking the type of power tools (mostly doing things with hand tools and a drill ) :) and with only a tiny space to work in, I do what I can, but dream of being able to do projects like yours. I loved this technique of yours but also the lazy one in me thinks, wow, lotta work! :) I love the quick projects but also would love to be able to do this. For now, I will have to live vicariously through you. :)

my favorite part is how the wood appears segmented, but the blue resin is all one piece, its so trippy and masterful

I've seen this particular type of bowl done before, but this is one of the most stunning I've seen, the combination of the wood figuring and resin is simply exquisite 👍

I'm surprised the vacuum attachment works. I was pretty darn sure something like that would lead to a piece of wood flying at a wall at 500 rpm. Your work is very creative, Keep up the hard work.

Gorgeous! And even more impressive that you did it without a special and expensive coring rig.
It looks like an aerial shot from directly above the Grand Canyon. I think it would have also turned out really cool if you had evenly staggered the resin sections around the bowl.
P.S. Thanks for showing us you turned off the band saw...I'm sure that was keeping up some of your viewers at night. 😄
