    I bought one of these YEARS ago at a flea market..I've used it to wrap around and pull down low hanging broken branches to help clean up my yard and protect myself from wild stray dogs that wander around the woods where I live. I don't want to hurt any animal but I know just how dangerous they can be..something that gives me some range for protection while I go to get my mail or check my property for things that need fixing is a welcome feeling of safety when you live smack dap next to the forest.

    Very interesting, very informative. Haven't seen much of these since I was a kid, and now that I'm in the market for one, they are almost impossible to find.

    thanks for the video really useful👍
    i train with a rope kusarigama(weight-chain and sickle) the sickle is of wood and yeah its a hell... really diffucult to control

    • @ShinKyuubi
      @ShinKyuubi 4 роки тому

      same for me. I had a pair of training kama and screwed some eyelets in the bottom of them so I could add rope..made a training weight out of some 550 paracord and a pair of old balled up socks wrapped in duck tape. It's a really handful to keep under any kind of control..then again flexible weapons are some of the MOST difficult martial arts weapons to control.

    3/4 chain the best size? I feel 1” wouldn’t be fluid enough.

    Excellent video, and well presented.
    The piece shown at 6:20 has some interesting traits, but overall is terrible to work with. The weights are very long, and it causes them to flip strangely in practice. This leads to loss of control, and fairly regularl instances of it flipping back on the wielder.
    One of our Sandan purchased it for their kit, and we played around with it a bit. Our Shihan had particularly strong words to say about how 'poor' the build was.

    a felony to "keep and bear arms." For a chain........which is only good in the hands of someone who trains......

    hi ninjas ! have you tried to land some of these punch locks in a real light sparring within a punch combo full speed ? thanks

    • @thedojomartialarts
      @thedojomartialarts  4 роки тому +4

      Yes, of course. Thousands of times. That is why we practice. We slow it down on purpose, so people can learn.

      @@thedojomartialartsthanks for your kind answer. Coming from a boxing background i always have a hard time picturing someone fast enough to catch a punch (checking a punch is already difficult). Hope you can post some sparring footage. Keep up the good work ! cheers

      people don’t catch punches, they joint lock after someone presented their shoulder and thus you take their center

      The mijin is a version of the kusarifundo with three chains connected by a central ring. Considered a more difficult and powerful version( mijin meaning destroyer) ,depending on the use one could strike three times in one.

      I've never used this weapon and never will. I use other weapons. Someone asked me to watch this video because I'm a nunchaku practitioner (will open a channel on it soon enough). They didn't know that the two weapons were *so* different.
