OMG finally someone else who thinks like me! I have around 10 luxury bags and 9 contemporary bags. I'm fully enjoying mine and i don't feel the need to buy more at this time. I'm fully enjoying them and its so easy to get caught up in wanting more.

I agree. I’m moving into luxury minimalism. The maintenance of so many things can be a full time job. Dusting, conditioning…to de-pilling cashmere & hand washing items, etc…is so time consuming. Less is more-(time for other things).
I wish I can like this video more than once. GREAT video and I totally agree. As a fellow bag enthusiast, I appreciate and admire bags across all different designer houses and styles. I, too, want to enjoy all my bags and put a story to them so I can look back and remember all the wonderful memories I've had with my bags. I am not a collector and at the end of the day, these are bags meant to be used and enjoyed. Even with plans of passing them down to my children, I believe it'll be even more special to hand down well enjoyed pieces so each item has a story to tell. :)
Couldn’t agree more. The most beautiful thing about handbags (IMO) is that they tell a story of a part of your life. I get sentimental to see the leather change and become softer over the years. It’s like they grew with me 😊

I concur with every aspect of what u said, every one! Bags are meant to be used, not put on a shelf to be admired from afar. I don't understand that thinking. If ur not going to use ur bag why buy it? I have the same philosophy about all my treasures, bags, shoes, clothes, china, flatware, etc. Why save them for a a rainy day, or special occasion, one that may never come? I've grown to love myself and feel I'm special enough to use the things I purchased and love. I'm so glad to know u feel the same way ❤️
Oh my, that is a breath of fresh perspective, many UA-camrs big and small, goes after Hermes as the gold standard of handbag status. They seem to have endless income or depleted their collection for their quest for B,K and C but end day, I wonder do they actually appreciate the craftsmanship and truly love the silhouette of the bags or simply a show of their wealth and love the multiple colors of what Hermes can offer?? How many B, K, C do one need? Hermes simply monetize on these facts and just come out with different versions of the same bags, colors, sizes, leather types like mini Kelly, Kelly cut, 25, 30, Togo, swift, etc.. It's simply the same bags in different forms and colors. In my humble opinion, these are not truly bag lovers cos they have only Hermes in their collection. No other silhouettes or leather types to show the versatility of other bag designs regardless of the brand. Don't shoot me! 🫣😶🌫️ Pretty shallow love, I must say. 😅

Those 2 beauties are perfect, any other color will be extraneous. I also love bags but I can admire them from afar. I don't need to buy them. I can either finance an unforgettable vacation trip for my family we will remember forever or buy a bag that will give me joy but will just be all about me. Many can afford both, so good for them!
Personally feel this sentiment! I started building up my bag collection after starting my full time job 2 years ago after finally graduating from college. I’ve been super intentional with all my bag purchases, and now I feel like I have a bag for every purpose. I decided to start building out my fine jewelry collection - when I hopefully get promoted this year I’m hoping to give myself a cartier bracelet!
Yes i love this video. Very very down to earth. To me, i love to have Berkin and a Kelly and like you had said 2 is more than enough. Many times, when i watch UA-cam videos especially on Hermes quota bag, a lot of UA-camrs are FOMO and get as many colors as many sizes they can and in their world is all just Hermes but told us they are handbag enthusiast. Is good to have a Berkin and Kelly but they are now competing among each other who has the most. OMG......Thanks for sharing. A very down to earth video. Well said, enjoy what we already have.
That's a very reasonable approach, I enjoyed listening and I had to smile when you said your handbag collection is not what you want your life to be about. I don't think I will ever own a Birkin because I cannot see myself spending this much money on a handbag. Prices have gone through the roof in recent years.
I love everything that you said. I saw a picture of one of the Olson twins and their birkin looks as if it went through the ringer and it has held up. The only thing noticeable was that the black color was fading. I would never be able to afford a birkin, but I definitely appreciate the vintage Chanels I purchased and the MCM I inherited that I got refurbished and they all look great. I'll be using all my bags till the stitching comes out for sure 👍

Loved this so much. A sane and responsible perspective. I am guilty of the want and the hunt being fun but not enjoying what I have. I’m not interested in Hermes though (not for bags) unless one of the lower profile ones. I just don’t feel comfortable walking in the city with so much money on my arm. What a refreshing approach to the handbag lovers, collectors etc. I believe on buying things you will enjoy using them not having them in your closet collecting dust. I do like luxury bags as well as contemporary. But at the en there are “things” to have them in a pedestal for me is a waste of time And money. Life is an instant enjoy what you have and enjoy life. Totally agree !. One or two bags from a designer are perfect . I have a lot of designer handbags so I like variety . I enjoy my bags but you can't carry all these bags I have bags I only carried twice ; wasted money . I have stop letting people influence my thinking
I feel the same way. I have one birkin black w gold 35 and one Kelly 32 gold on gold. I have one jyspiere 28 in palladium and grey color. I have one jumbo and medium CF. I have one reissue 224 (which is essentially the same as the mini rectangle so I won’t be getting that) one WOC. One lady Dior. One Ysl. I have other bags but as for the main staples of bags, I’m good with one. Having one of each main is really fun and versitle for me. One camera bag. One shoulder hobo which is a chanel. One top handle chanel. Etc etc. I do need a zipper tote- thinking goyard artois because I don’t have goyard yet lol.
100% agree! I don’t get why would someone want to have the same bag in every color! If you love the brand get different designs in different colors! To me having 10’s of the same bag just cheapens it!

I am relatively new to watching UA-cam influencers like yourself, despite always having had a love of fashion, handbags, etc. You are one of only a few that I will watch. I absolutely loved every single point that you made here! The more that I view and analyze luxury bags to determine which to purchase, the more I realize that despite my love for bags, they are JUST HANDBAGS in the end. I do think that if one goes overboard, they also lose their luster. The celebrity family you showed in the pics is notorious for ostentatious wealth, and to each their own, but I do not envy them one bit for having Chanel and Hermes in every conceivable color of the rainbow. I think that it would make me kind of sick to have a room full of expensive handbags given what this might say about my mindset on top of what I would view as the stressful logistics of it all. Let's not forget that the handbag does not make the woman more beautiful, so find a reasonable number of bags that can actually be used and appreciated. My absolute favorite comment in this video was the one about you ending up with hundreds of Birkins and Kellys in your old age, and that being what you spent your life doing (uninspiring). I realize that this channel is supposed to be about the fun and aspirational element of handbags, but it's also nice to hear that you are using logic. Thank you for this!

This is so spot on. I feel so fortunate to have a Kelly and I am definitely a Kelly girl. I feel temptation to get a birkin and I love crook of the arm bags, but I have several LV bags and a Chanel boston/bowling bag that serves this purpose. I bought the Chanel Boston bag on the premise that I would not ever buy a Birkin. So why am I so tempted? 😀
I think it’s great to maintain a sense of balance and not just collect things to collect them. Though I would be surprised if you don’t add a mini Kelly sometime soon. 😉
LOVE this video and I could not agree more. I don't have an Hermes bag (yet) but really I just want maybe one someday. It's a level I haven't reached yet and when it's my time to hunt one down maybe I will, but in the mean time I'm going to love on what I have and wear it OUT. Nothing beats a well made beat up bag.
I removed the stickers from my Birkin as soon as I got it. I only left the stickers on the feet for now. The Kelly still has all its stickers on. 😂 I’m aware about the oxidation risk but that’s only when the stickers start to peel or curl on the corners. All of the stickers are very much in tact at the moment but I’ll take them off as soon as I see they’re ready to come off, or as soon as I get antsy to reveal the shiny hardware! 😂
I think you have the perfect 2 hermes bags so I don’t think you need more ! Unless you just happen to come across one you love ! I’ve Learnt to never say never ❤
Great video. I used to get upset bc I couldn't afford a Birkin or Kelly. I looked down on myself. However, life is what it is, and I can't and will not go into debt just to say I have a Birkin or Kelly. I love Hermes handbags and will admire them from afar and on social media.

Totally agree with you. Why would you have the same bag over and over? But I have to disagree with the coats 🤣🤣🤣. If I love a coat, I'd have to have one in a neutral color and one in red. I also think that Birkin and Kelly are over priced. And WE are the ones to blame. We made the Birkin end the Kelly covetable. Once upon a time, this bag only cost 3000€
I'm glad in this POV, a lot of YT's are gearing towards all Hermes now bec they are really ' good quality'( like duh better be with that pricing), but looking at your collections, if it's not called a 'Birkin' or 'Kelly', the design is quite boring. Your Gucci,Speedy BB, Givenchy have more interesting features. Btws Ive read that Jane Bikini doesn't really like the bag bec it's too heavy and she donated most of her Birkins to charity. And seriously there's only a select few that will brazenly use their Birkin or Kelly as an everyday bag bec wether they admit it or not they know they put 10k on that thing. They put in in a pedestal to keep it pristine and functionality is left to less expensive bags and that they consider of lesser quality.

I believe you mentioned that your home store is H Wall St (NYC) & I happen to go to the same store but just seriously started my H journey locally late last year. I hve purchased my other Hermes non quota bags & other H stuff in Europe (paris & belgium spec) but have my heart set on d K25 retourne this time and I would be more than happy once the H gods grant me my wish. Just like you, I dnt intend to buy more Quota bags in the future, not even a Birkin no matter how much I appreciate the way it looks/ its quality since hand held bags are not really my thing, strap is impt to me! I like carrying my bags crossbody for the most part😂 Although, I think even after I get the elusive K25, i would still continue to patronize H if only for its beauty & quality…..❤️ their shoes, scarves & other leather goods spec. Yes! I do plan to continue shopping at Hermes. Getting the bags was never my mission. They were just part of my shopping experience. I am a big fan of Hermes jewelry and scarves/shawls, as well as their tableware and RTW.
I agree with you on having 1 Birkin and 1 Kelly. Those are on my bag wishlist as well. Not getting them anytime soon. Maybe in the future. I would be very happy and content with 1 of each in a neutral color with gold hardware in my collection. But I disagree with you on buying multiple colors in the same style/item. For me, when I love an item so much and it works out for me, I get it in multiple colors or same item in multiples. I know I will use it a lot and I was always this way growing up. The item can be a hand bag, shoes, clothes, etc. For example, I have 2 Alma PM in monogram and damier ebene, 2 Favorite MM in monogram and damier azur, 1 Neverfull GM in monogram and 1 Neverfull MM in pink/yellow (from by the pool collection). I also have like 8 black Lululemon align leggings I wear all the time and also 7 fast and free work out leggings I use when I go to the gym to run. I have many sweaters, shirts, and dresses in multiples as well. I have 3 Manolo Blahnik Hangisi in red, black, and white. I use them all. Some more than others but I still use them. But that's just me.
I went crazy a couple of years back on lululemon. I better don’t gain any weight😅. End of the day I use my lulu backpack the most. My lifestyle has changed so much that I don’t have anywhere to bring my B and K to.

It is, however, very interesting how you are more than happy with the 3 Hermes bags you own (and the only obvious similarity is between your Birkin and mini Evelyne - the "gold" color, while I agree that those 3 are quite different from each other) and you don't consider other colors, sizes or leather types to be a good reason to add another Hermes bag to your collection, yet you have quite a collection of classic Chanel bags (particularly two mediums and two WOCs), which are quite similar... May I ask - is it because you generally prefer the look of Chanel bags and/or they suit you lifestyle better or do you consider them different enough to have dupes instead of keeping just 2-3 (or maybe up to 5 max) Chanel bags, each being different kind/size/color etc.?
I love your observation because I’ve been wondering this myself! I recently did a video on why I’ve stopped buying Chanel bags as well. Feels like duplication at this point. But I think the reason why I’ve acquired so many more Chanel bags is because, as you say, aesthetically, I’m much more drawn to Chanel designs and it’s more tempting! 😂 Plus, I was infatuated with Chanel as a brand for many years when I was younger so perhaps it took a while for the magic to wear off. 😉

I am curious about how you keep the retourne looking good for many years? I have heard after 5 years the pocket may show through on the front of the bag and will get a lot of slouch to it. I like the practicality of that style but worry about this especially if I were to only buy one kelly.
Ah interesting! I’ve owned both bags for less than 2 years so only time will tell, but I do think that proper storage is key. I always store them upright stuffed inside with tissue paper or air paper, inside their dust bags. I’ve seen many bags from Hermes and other brands such as Chanel etc that have bad sagging or structure loss and I think in most cases it’s improper storage. Hope this helps!
Last year I had the same thoughts when it came to classic chanel flap. I feel that 1 is enough for my collection. I love having a variety of bags which fill my different needs.
Honestly think it’s interesting you say you have enough Birkins and Kellys because you don’t need other colors/sizes but have so many Chanel bags….? Yes they’re classic flaps! WOCs! But still, I think for most people who aren’t knowledgeable abt Chanel will just see the same bag in different colors and sizes. I do understand the overhype on B/Ks but still it sounds a bit like you’re trying to yuck someone’s yum.

I can never see myself wanting a Birkin ever but I do want a mini Kelly because I love mini bags and admire the silhouette. But then again if I'd ever reach the level to comfortably spend money on Hermes, I would go for a mini Lindy which suits my style and lifestyle the most.
Birkin or kelly is not for fashion, its a dressing code. Just like silicon vally CEOs buying all kinds of puffer vest with only slight differences, or like mark zuckerberg's closet has only the same style shirts and tshirts in different grays. Many people buying birkin or kelly because kardashions and hollywood reality shows promote it, so people think once they own one or two they are like the celebrities. But thats not the point, the point is being boring, and can fits lots of mom stuff with a boring outfit style. the point is that because you trust the quality and you have strict social life dress code, so instead of digging into lower quality stuff, you just buy the same style stuff in different colors that fit your wardrobe colors. And the point is also that you want so many other high quality stuff that people can't see, such as home decos etc, etc. the bag just come with it as a membership reward after you spend much more money on the other stuff. those are the point of having birkin or kelly. if you find yourself have to build relationship with a SA and playing their game to get the Birkin or Kelly, thats item is just not a good fit with you, your life style or your taste, and you will not be appreciate it sooner or later. Most of birkin or kelly owners I know never play the SA game, never need it to, and they don't go shopping in different stores, because their family throughout generations has been buying lots of different stuff in Hermes, bags are just their membership VVIP reward. Thats how it supposed to be.

Yes i love this video. Very very down to earth. To me, i love to have Berkin and a Kelly and like you had said 2 is more than enough. Many times, when i watch UA-cam videos especially on Hermes quota bag, a lot of UA-camrs are FOMO and get as many colors as many sizes they can and in their world is all just Hermes but told us they are handbag enthusiast. Is good to have a Berkin and Kelly but they are now competing among each other who has the most. OMG......Thanks for sharing. A very down to earth video. Well said, enjoy what we already have.

That's a very reasonable approach, I enjoyed listening and I had to smile when you said your handbag collection is not what you want your life to be about. I don't think I will ever own a Birkin because I cannot see myself spending this much money on a handbag. Prices have gone through the roof in recent years.

I love everything that you said. I saw a picture of one of the Olson twins and their birkin looks as if it went through the ringer and it has held up. The only thing noticeable was that the black color was fading. I would never be able to afford a birkin, but I definitely appreciate the vintage Chanels I purchased and the MCM I inherited that I got refurbished and they all look great. I'll be using all my bags till the stitching comes out for sure 👍

Loved this so much. A sane and responsible perspective. I am guilty of the want and the hunt being fun but not enjoying what I have. I’m not interested in Hermes though (not for bags) unless one of the lower profile ones. I just don’t feel comfortable walking in the city with so much money on my arm. Although I find both the Kelly and Birkin beautiful.

What a refreshing approach to the handbag lovers, collectors etc. I believe on buying things you will enjoy using them not having them in your closet collecting dust. I do like luxury bags as well as contemporary. But at the en there are “things” to have them in a pedestal for me is a waste of time

Totally agree !. One or two bags from a designer are perfect . I have a lot of designer handbags so I like variety . I enjoy my bags but you can't carry all these bags I have bags I only carried twice ; wasted money . I have stop letting people influence my thinking
I feel the same way. I have one birkin black w gold 35 and one Kelly 32 gold on gold. I have one jyspiere 28 in palladium and grey color. I have one jumbo and medium CF. I have one reissue 224 (which is essentially the same as the mini rectangle so I won’t be getting that) one WOC. One lady Dior. One Ysl. I have other bags but as for the main staples of bags, I’m good with one. Having one of each main is really fun and versitle for me. One camera bag. One shoulder hobo which is a chanel. One top handle chanel. Etc etc. I do need a zipper tote- thinking goyard artois because I don’t have goyard yet lol.

I have 3 Hermes bags and I won’t buy anymore… if I’m honest.. I bought them because I thought I should have them not because I fell in love! I love my Chanel’s and my LV and YSL and I’ll concentrate on the ones that really make my heart sing

I am relatively new to watching UA-cam influencers like yourself, despite always having had a love of fashion, handbags, etc. You are one of only a few that I will watch. I absolutely loved every single point that you made here! The more that I view and analyze luxury bags to determine which to purchase, the more I realize that despite my love for bags, they are JUST HANDBAGS in the end. I do think that if one goes overboard, they also lose their luster. The celebrity family you showed in the pics is notorious for ostentatious wealth, and to each their own, but I do not envy them one bit for having Chanel and Hermes in every conceivable color of the rainbow. I think that it would make me kind of sick to have a room full of expensive handbags given what this might say about my mindset on top of what I would view as the stressful logistics of it all. Let's not forget that the handbag does not make the woman more beautiful, so find a reasonable number of bags that can actually be used and appreciated. My absolute favorite comment in this video was the one about you ending up with hundreds of Birkins and Kellys in your old age, and that being what you spent your life doing (uninspiring). I realize that this channel is supposed to be about the fun and aspirational element of handbags, but it's also nice to hear that you are using logic. Thank you for this!

I feel temptation to get a birkin and I love crook of the arm bags, but I have several LV bags and a Chanel boston/bowling bag that serves this purpose. I bought the Chanel Boston bag on the premise that I would not ever buy a Birkin. So why am I so tempted? 😀

I removed the stickers from my Birkin as soon as I got it. I only left the stickers on the feet for now. The Kelly still has all its stickers on. 😂 I’m aware about the oxidation risk but that’s only when the stickers start to peel or curl on the corners. All of the stickers are very much in tact at the moment but I’ll take them off as soon as I see they’re ready to come off, or as soon as I get antsy to reveal the shiny hardware! 😂

Great video. I used to get upset bc I couldn't afford a Birkin or Kelly. I looked down on myself. However, life is what it is, and I can't and will not go into debt just to say I have a Birkin or Kelly. I love Hermes handbags and will admire them from afar and on social media.

I also think that Birkin and Kelly are over priced. And WE are the ones to blame. We made the Birkin end the Kelly covetable. Once upon a time, this bag only cost 3000€

I'm glad in this POV, a lot of YT's are gearing towards all Hermes now bec they are really ' good quality'( like duh better be with that pricing), but looking at your collections, if it's not called a 'Birkin' or 'Kelly', the design is quite boring. Your Gucci,Speedy BB, Givenchy have more interesting features. Btws Ive read that Jane Bikini doesn't really like the bag bec it's too heavy and she donated most of her Birkins to charity. And seriously there's only a select few that will brazenly use their Birkin or Kelly as an everyday bag bec wether they admit it or not they know they put 10k on that thing. They put in in a pedestal to keep it pristine and functionality is left to less expensive bags and that they consider of lesser quality.

I believe you mentioned that your home store is H Wall St (NYC) & I happen to go to the same store but just seriously started my H journey locally late last year. I hve purchased my other Hermes non quota bags & other H stuff in Europe (paris & belgium spec) but have my heart set on d K25 retourne this time and I would be more than happy once the H gods grant me my wish. Just like you, I dnt intend to buy more Quota bags in the future, not even a Birkin no matter how much I appreciate the way it looks/ its quality since hand held bags are not really my thing, strap is impt to me! I like carrying my bags crossbody for the most part😂 Although, I think even after I get the elusive K25, i would still continue to patronize H if only for its beauty & quality…..❤️ their shoes, scarves & other leather goods spec. Yes! I do plan to continue shopping at Hermes. Getting the bags was never my mission. They were just part of my shopping experience. I am a big fan of Hermes jewelry and scarves/shawls, as well as their tableware and RTW.

I agree with you on having 1 Birkin and 1 Kelly. Those are on my bag wishlist as well. Not getting them anytime soon. Maybe in the future. I would be very happy and content with 1 of each in a neutral color with gold hardware in my collection. But I disagree with you on buying multiple colors in the same style/item. For me, when I love an item so much and it works out for me, I get it in multiple colors or same item in multiples. I know I will use it a lot and I was always this way growing up. The item can be a hand bag, shoes, clothes, etc. For example, I have 2 Alma PM in monogram and damier ebene, 2 Favorite MM in monogram and damier azur, 1 Neverfull GM in monogram and 1 Neverfull MM in pink/yellow (from by the pool collection). I also have like 8 black Lululemon align leggings I wear all the time and also 7 fast and free work out leggings I use when I go to the gym to run. I have many sweaters, shirts, and dresses in multiples as well. I have 3 Manolo Blahnik Hangisi in red, black, and white. I use them all. Some more than others but I still use them. But that's just me.
I went crazy a couple of years back on lululemon. I better don’t gain any weight😅. End of the day I use my lulu backpack the most. My lifestyle has changed so much that I don’t have anywhere to bring my B and K to.

It is, however, very interesting how you are more than happy with the 3 Hermes bags you own (and the only obvious similarity is between your Birkin and mini Evelyne - the "gold" color, while I agree that those 3 are quite different from each other) and you don't consider other colors, sizes or leather types to be a good reason to add another Hermes bag to your collection, yet you have quite a collection of classic Chanel bags (particularly two mediums and two WOCs), which are quite similar... May I ask - is it because you generally prefer the look of Chanel bags and/or they suit you lifestyle better or do you consider them different enough to have dupes instead of keeping just 2-3 (or maybe up to 5 max) Chanel bags, each being different kind/size/color etc.?
I love your observation because I’ve been wondering this myself! I recently did a video on why I’ve stopped buying Chanel bags as well. Feels like duplication at this point. But I think the reason why I’ve acquired so many more Chanel bags is because, as you say, aesthetically, I’m much more drawn to Chanel designs and it’s more tempting! 😂 Plus, I was infatuated with Chanel as a brand for many years when I was younger so perhaps it took a while for the magic to wear off. 😉

I am curious about how you keep the retourne looking good for many years? I have heard after 5 years the pocket may show through on the front of the bag and will get a lot of slouch to it. I like the practicality of that style but worry about this especially if I were to only buy one kelly.
Ah interesting! I’ve owned both bags for less than 2 years so only time will tell, but I do think that proper storage is key. I always store them upright stuffed inside with tissue paper or air paper, inside their dust bags. I’ve seen many bags from Hermes and other brands such as Chanel etc that have bad sagging or structure loss and I think in most cases it’s improper storage. Hope this helps!

Honestly think it’s interesting you say you have enough Birkins and Kellys because you don’t need other colors/sizes but have so many Chanel bags….? Yes they’re classic flaps! WOCs! But still, I think for most people who aren’t knowledgeable abt Chanel will just see the same bag in different colors and sizes. I do understand the overhype on B/Ks but still it sounds a bit like you’re trying to yuck someone’s yum.

I can never see myself wanting a Birkin ever but I do want a mini Kelly because I love mini bags and admire the silhouette. But then again if I'd ever reach the level to comfortably spend money on Hermes, I would go for a mini Lindy which suits my style and lifestyle the most.
Birkin or kelly is not for fashion, its a dressing code. Just like silicon vally CEOs buying all kinds of puffer vest with only slight differences, or like mark zuckerberg's closet has only the same style shirts and tshirts in different grays. Many people buying birkin or kelly because kardashions and hollywood reality shows promote it, so people think once they own one or two they are like the celebrities. But thats not the point, the point is being boring, and can fits lots of mom stuff with a boring outfit style. the point is that because you trust the quality and you have strict social life dress code, so instead of digging into lower quality stuff, you just buy the same style stuff in different colors that fit your wardrobe colors. And the point is also that you want so many other high quality stuff that people can't see, such as home decos etc, etc. the bag just come with it as a membership reward after you spend much more money on the other stuff. those are the point of having birkin or kelly. if you find yourself have to build relationship with a SA and playing their game to get the Birkin or Kelly, thats item is just not a good fit with you, your life style or your taste, and you will not be appreciate it sooner or later. Most of birkin or kelly owners I know never play the SA game, never need it to, and they don't go shopping in different stores, because their family throughout generations has been buying lots of different stuff in Hermes, bags are just their membership VVIP reward. Thats how it supposed to be.
