"It took a whole bunch of people to design and put this thing together"
What he actually means
"It took us fucking ages to drink all that beer"
Should have used VBs instead haha
You're not wrong... At some point someone made the executive decision that alchoholism was bad, but also inevitable if we wanted to hit our deadline. So we ended up buying a fair number of the bottles at the recyclers. We used Corona bottles because they're clear glass, which most beer bottles aren't. There was an epic spreadsheet comparing all possible bottle options though...
Haha that's awesome, the VB thing was just Aussie pride but it's cool that thought went into what types of bottles you used. Thanks for the reply!
VB is weak. Carlton all the way.
Terry Folds I mean if we're gonna start naming shit beer then why not XXXX Gold? 🤣
why not use miniature alcohol bottles? would have allowed for finer resolution. :p
This guy proves that quality content on youtube still exists!
Yeah, betweeen him and Primitive Technology it's a hard fight for the best channel right now.
Mat Jivas When you considder what other "vlog" videos are worth. Yes. sure!
vlogging is nothing more than a documentary film either about one self or other subjects. the difference is nowadays these documentary films are made by individuals all over the world and not by tv broadcasting stations. this video has a distinctive subject that most people don't know about, the production, the editing, and the way that people were interviewed has the quality and could have fit very well and could have passed as a tv documentary.
@@BingDwenDwen nail... head....hammer... ya hit it on the head !✌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I think ever tour should contain a look at the bathroom and kitchen. Call me crazy but I feel a little cheated. Otherwise it looks like an awesome place......unless I gotta pee
15:45 I love that painting in the background. 1. Because I like the artwork. and 2. Because you can tell it hasn't been moved from the place it was painted at.
"Growing mushrooms" 😂 okaaay
wonder if they'd let me build a COB LED solar powered shroom and ganja growroom and run a "test" in there for some months to test its efficiency 😂👌🌲
Growing mushrooms doesn't necessarily mean psychedelics. Mycology is an incredibly interesting field of study and you'd be surprised at how little you actually know (judging from your comment that is)
Geez bruh.. drugs are bad you hippies
That's how they look like, right?^^
@@fakemailforreal lmao
I just finished Watch Dogs 2, and then this video comes out? Damn man 😍
Best definition of anarchist I've seen on youtube. and WOW what an excellent space and freakin luvverly people. My respect for this channel grows with each vid.
Was not expecting a mini documentary style video when i clicked on this! great video and really interesting place/people, love to see more like this
Great to watch your video buddy , Always inspired from You 😄
Books. How can I send them books? I come across electronic books from 40s tube tech to 70s IC.
This kind of anarchism is awesome. So glad to see what you guys do and to see it's helping so many people. I'd love to find one of these hackerspaces in Barcelona!
Thanks for another great video Scott ,keep them coming please!I know they’re time consuming and keep them interesting. Looking forward to the next one! Thanks again Scott!!
Every time you come up with some exciting and fresh content. Love the hard work you put in and the passion. Glad to be here. Looking forward to see some more cool stuff. All the best.
cant get over the smile, keep up the videos dude
It looks like a CCC Chapter in Germany rather than like a "normal" hackerspace.
Metalab and C-Base were big inspirations early on, so the resemblance isn't completely accidental.
Strange Parts have you been to C-base?
Hackerspaces are a german invention, so yeah the really old ones like the C-Base are a blueprint for hackerspaces around the world. That is also why Germany has most hackerspaces worldwide. You find one in every bigger city.
Do you have links to some in Berlin?
Looks like the Labor, just bigger. :D
This is honestly the best channel on UA-cam. Great vids man
I'm so excited that you uploaded this video I've been waiting for you to do something with Noise Bridge for a while now. Keep it up Scotty always love the great content you upload 😊😃.
That's just awesome...i bet strangers that come in aren't strangers at all, am i right? Love seeing this kind of community, it's beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with us, greetings from a romanian guy who would fit right in Noisebridge!
This feels like such a welcoming place Scotty. I hope to be a part of a community like this one day.
this is really awesome, the people are amazing including you :)
btw the hackerspace reminds me of that underground room in watch dogs 2.
There's a reason for that... Noisebridge was actually the model for the hackerspace in Watchdogs 2. Early renderings looked a lot more similar to Noisebridge than the actual game. I wish I'd mentioned this in the video, but I totally forgot about it:)
Strange Parts cool!.....and thank you very much sir for replying :D
Noisebridge is even in the same general location in SF as the Watch Dogs 2 hackerspace!
Jeffrey Faden wow...that's cool.
That's so awesome 😊 I love watch dogs 2
All of your documentrys are of ENORMOUSLY high quality. Absolutely astonishing, keep up the fantastic work
You too can now live in san francisco for just a small loan of 1 million dollars.
What city would you like to see a hackerspace in?
All of them!
And there are alott of them already :D
Johannesburg South Africa .... When I looked a while ago there was one near my uni but it closed down.
Dallas..
I'd love to have one in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area. Apparently, Louisiana already has 5 or more hackerspaces, but they're all pretty far from me.
You people out there are so lucky to have such a wonderful community!! more about the projects in that space!
Such a dreamy environment to create in. Awesome video, Scotty!
"Be excellent to each other"
Indeed. Party on dudes.
Too cool! Wouldn’t mind starting hacker space in my town too.
This is great! I had the privilege of visiting Noisebridge in 2012, and I was pretty impressed. Because of that, I joined my own local hackerspace and became an active member. It was also part of my inspiration to go back to school for engineering, which I'm doing right now.
awesome video man! enjoying the more frequent uploads
I want to work for Nasa and design space thrusters, and just research anything to do with space and to also invent :D - I used to want to design computers but I got inspired from Nasa and I've been reading space books since I was around 7 and a half I believe. - love the videos as well 'Strange Parts' I enjoyed the IPhone 7 to headphone jack.
TDC where'd you go to college?
I've got Autism and I hate crouds and people, so proberly my local college that is for Autistic people.
I would love to go to Cambridge university but my autism makes me not wanting to because of crouds.
Go try see a local hackerspace ;) figure out wich people are cool with you and see if you can find the perfect balance times where just a few people are there that you like. It will take a bit of time but maybe the hackerspace envirement might work. also, if you work on some projects and are able to show them, maybe a university that has teachers that know what you deal with can help aswell. Nasa or SpaceX wont hesitate hiring people who are capable of doing amazing things, so remember to be awesome and amazing ;) got some small autism myself, I know the feelings, but that never* stopped me from trying to be myself and learn more and teach others what Ive learned. *well, if the crowd isnt too big. but im nolonger scared of showing 15 ppl how arduino's work to controll fluidsensorts :D
Hey man, good luck on your journey, I can only begin to imagine some of the troubles you may face with people.
The STEM field can always do with high functioning minds, and I hope you find a way to explore that route.
Have you considered taking online classes through a university?
I'm studying Mechanical Engineering in Australia and there's an option to take all the classes online, but you'd still need to come into the uni for practical sessions and probably some group assignments/presentations.
Good luck!
Very interesting keep it up
Absolutely love your videos, giving me inspiration to carry on with electronics!
Dude....
You make Strange and Great Videos!!!
I don't know what to write so I'm giving you waffles recipe:
2 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon white sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat waffle iron. Beat eggs in large bowl with hand beater until fluffy. Beat in flour, milk, vegetable oil, sugar, baking powder, salt and vanilla, just until smooth.
Spray preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour mix onto hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown. Serve hot.
Cameron Lattimore: Thanks for sharing. You would do well at Noisebridge. You have the right sharing philosophy. How many does this feed?
Making them now! Mmmmm!
I followed all the instructions and the waffles are really Good! Thanks!!
Thank you waffle god
Open source cooking
I really don’t get why people dislike this video. Everything the guys do is positive, creative and might possibly even help shape things for our future. Learning and sharing is the way to go. Keep doing this Scotty, the world needs people like you.
He's a decent enough guy I'm sure. A little annoying but it's fine.
Man, your editing skills are awesome!
Your videos are great! Keep doing this please! The quality of your video ist making them so great. Not just a 5 minutes vlog or something like that...
Maybe visit Ben Krasnow? He runs applied science - might be worth checking out.
Can i Live There???? Pretty Please!!!??? It looks like heaven to me!!!
daviddaddy good luck living in San Francisco
Do a search to find your local hackerspace. They are all over North America and Europe
Adam Brown print A hover house
daviddaddy good luck trying to find a house without selling your soul, first child, House, and kidney. Also good luck giving up 70% of your American rights too.
BassBoostGod I Already live in California lol not much would change for me. I live about 3 hours south from San Fran lol
Scotty I just love your content, please keep doing what you do, that is just GREAT!
Thanks so much for creating this as I just moved to the bay area about a year ago, I've been working on my own at home on these kinds of projects wondering if there were others like me in the bay area! I had no idea so many of these places existed in the east bay as well.
Everytime you speak excited you sounds like Kermit.
That's the San Francisco accent XD
kidding, of course
great i cant unhear that
yeh haha just said got it strait away
Typo boi
Wow typo
Was waiting for your video.. love from India 😘
You are taking what I said to heart! I love seeing this kind of work from you. Keep it up!
I loved, thanks strange parts for your videos.
Wow it looks like the hacker space in Watchdogs 2
look for the newer comment and you may be surprised.
Also I think this is the future of education. As a 22 year old kid stuck in the suburbs having access to something like this would be a godsend. I live in Calgary AB Canada and there is a maker space here but it costs a certain amount of money, plus I’m having a real tough time finding a decent job. I’m planning to go into a media arts course at my local art school but I’m not sure if I’ll be accepted yet. Fingers crossed. Anyways this video was really cool! Really inspired me! Thank you!
Love your work man
You are doing a great job bro !!! Love your videos :)
This is the only channel i click on
instantly
13:07-13:30 "growing mushrooms" im in
This was fascinating! I really want to visit as soon as I can, Thank you!
Seeing this kind of things brings me hope, its incredible how can you feel and just KNOW how excellent all these people are! as always amazing content scotty! you are an amazing inspiration to me
Legend❤
My husbend and i think this Has to be the coolest place on earth I have ever seen. He builds HF receivers, transceivers, HF and cb linears, power supplies and many other related items as a hobby. He would love it here! Billy and Melissa Bowling Elkhorn city KY
your videos are so cool! They never disappoint!
Wow! What a fascinating group of people operating in a fascinating environment. Thanks for shedding some light on Noisebridge, Scotty!
How come I never saw Adam Savage doing anything in there? Or did I miss it?
Fernando Sato good call! 👌
He should visit :D lets tweet him
I'm pretty sure he's actually been there before
Adam Brown u thinking of a specific video?
Oh, he's there alright. Just that he was lurking around, disguised in one of his Comicon outfits.
I usually watch and like in silence, but wanted to say that the music is juuust a tad too loud at the beginning. :)
Stay awesome!
That place looks soooooo awesome, it would be super cool to have access to something like that. Not only are there the tools to do almost anything, but the fact that there are people who can teach you is just so nice.
This was such a helpful video. I didn't even know spaces like these exited and it inspired me to search for one in Boston. Sure enough there are tons that I can go explore! thanks for the video!
After watching this, it is very sad to read that Noisebridge has to move, because the landlords won't renew the lease
cool
Great video and Maker place. Happy to spread the word. I look forward to visiting when i'm in San Francisco.
Keep up the great work and videos. Cheers
another AWESOME thing i got to learn about i probably wouldnt have heard of if it wasnt for you, your videos are so interesting and love your filming, do you also edit yourself bc WOW!!!
DEDSEC? Anyone?
Seems to be something I'm interested in. Let's see if there is something like this in Germany, Cologne - can I also get a ❤?
Almost undoubtedly there is. Check out hackerspaces.org for a relatively complete list of hackerspaces. And check out CCC (Chaos Communications Club). They're quite active in Germany.
Strange Parts I've found two hackerspaces near where I live! Thank you so much I'm thinking about becoming part of one soon
Germany is full of Hackerspaces! =D I live in Wuppertal and we've also a Hackerspace, a great place!
Ein Kölner hier?! Na wenn du einen findest, sag mir bescheid :D
00008080p808
This is awesome! I want to check this place out now. Thanks for sharing!
You always have amazing content!!!!!
its 35 what lol
I love you videos man but seriously how do you afford to live as a nomadic hacker and film maker? I would love to take a year after college and do something similar so I definitely want to hear how you got to this point.
Rudster14 I wonder that every time I watch one of these videos.
he worked at google and a few other start ups and had his own. I think he made enough money to take a break
Tutorials gut_gelöst I wish he would do a bio video because as an aspiring engineer I am sure I could learn so much from him!
He has a million subscribers now, that is around the point where you can start living from UA-cam, unless you make some controversial content that gets demonetised all the time.
But really, I sound like a killjoy but not everyone can do that, there aren't enough people on this planet to give every creator millions of views. You should probably just get a degree and a normal job, at least at first.
This was a pleasure and a joy to watch. THANK YOU.
Thank you so much for discovered this place for me!!! I was there couple hours ago, that's amazing!
I’m moving to california former software engineer and game designer!
Come guys!
Stop telling him about to build another phone.
There's more interesting stuff in this planet that something all of us already have and he done.
just that he hasn't modified an iphone X xD
So you are back with awesome Stuff again
Awesome man, great to see! Thank you for sharing
Is there a signup/subscription system or literally anyone can go there? It looks well funded, Allowing absolutely anyone is kinda scary.
It's open to everyone, run on donations. People visiting for the first time are given a tour, and we have ways for filtering out people that are detrimental to the community. But it all works surprisingly well!
Strange Parts does the age matter, i mean, can a 15 jear old teenager who is interrestet in technology, allowed to come there?
Yup, you are free to turn up
I bet you have your ways....pretty easy to filter anyone out who doesn't conform to the sugar-coated (for easy mass consumption) ideologies of far-leftist and neo-marxist dogma. It's actually really sad that so many of these spaces aren't welcoming to people who just want to learn, make and collaborate without injecting politics and "identity" into every single facet of life.
@@theorist5497 You sound incredibly asspained.
I'm waiting for a video where you add Touch ID to iPhone X 😂
so big! Amazing all the tools you have there together! Inspiration!
Such a wonderful vid, I'll try to swing by next time I'm in SF (Tuesday?)
Me who just played watchdogs 6 minutes ago
2:34 Applejack anyone?
Yay! Someone else noticed. Also that the color of the room is her coat color. So awesome!
I absolutely love your videos!
Another video. This is becoming a regular thing. Keep em coming.
Wow .. that cinematography 😍😍😍
lol, best sarcasm ever
Jake .. no pun intended...see 0:08 onwards .. 😋
Who finances this? I mean let’s say you have a cool idea. Going to a hackerspace and sharing with the community is not enough right? And if you are forming a startup from a hackerspace, how is the ownership going to be?
Murshid Ahmed Just a guess. You probably pay a membership fee to be there which pays for rent, tools, components, etc. And there might be some incubation startup percentage type deal where if you start something, the owners automatically get a percentage.
Murshid Ahmed towerds the end of the video they say that they are founded by donations
17:00
Well it seems like if you founded a startup, you are expected (but not legally required) to ask all the relevant people to get in on it.
It's all optional donations
This is really awesome. Wish I had one in my area. Also, if it was available, I'd definitely love to binge on a UA-cam channel full of recorded classes or tutorials from this space.
Like a school of self-learning people who learn by *doing and experimenting.*
Nice !
Watchdogs in real life
Noisebridge has a PS4 with Watch Dogs 2 on it! Noisebridge was the main inspiration for that game!
I like wd 1 better
Except they’re not hipsters
I am shookt about the watchdog fact right now....
2222222222 222 the hell??, i don’t recall writing the comment.
7 videos, 450K subscribers, wow.. just..wow.
TEACH ME MASTER! YOU ARE MY IDOL NOW. ONE DAY I WANT TO BE LIKE YOU!!!
SINCERELY - 15 YEARS OLD BOY 😊😊😊
Thank you for showing that space. I’m going to check one out in cologne now. Exactly what i need! 🤘🏻
This sounds like an amazing community to join. Definitely going to have to check this place out!
It's 35
Lol make your own Mac next!
I’ve been wanting to visit hacker space in the Baltimore area. This video motivated me!!
So cool. And it looks like a place to meet interesting people as well.
35 WHAT
This place would be the only reason I'd move to California
You wouldn't be the only person to move to San Francisco solely because of Noisebridge...
There are hackerspaces in many larger cities
MeepMu yeah, but the culture is above all else
please dont move to california. theres enough of us.
do you by any chance live in AZ mesilla area? There's a hackerden in Tucson, you should check it out.
I went to my first Makerspace a week ago today, and will be returning this evening I hope. This place in San Francisco looks great and I am excited about joining the Hacker/Maker community here in the Mother Lode. Maybe someday we will make a field trip to the bay.
saw this in the movie algorithm and its cool to see in in-depth look onto this hacker space
