Awesome! My son was given a 1969 chevelle for free and is going to build it up.
You should be his assistant...father and son fixing a car is the best bond i can think of💖
My first car was a 68 chevelle. 327 4 SPD. So I definitely have a passion for these cars. Well done fellas!
Great job reviving this old muscle car. Nice touch showing the old vintage pics of your dad and his car.
Fantastic to see the Chevelle on the road. You folks did some good work on that car. Sounds great, she seemed to be one with the road. I’m jealous seeing you to wrench an old Chevelle back to working. My favorite SS is a 66. My dream car.I’m proud of you all with your success. Please keep it up, she is worth every dollar you put in her buddy. Tell your dad to smile once in a while, it won’t hurt!! It’ll make him look happy with the progress you’ve made. Stick to it guys. Big Al. That’ll be one bad ride!!!
I almost dropped a tear with those old photos of your dad and the Chevelle. Looking forward to see it shine again.
yea lite car for building smallblock engine 400 sb i used.
I have a huge soft spot for Chevelles. Absolutely love them. 👍 🇬🇧
YOU BETCHA!!!
Yes gotta be the 68-9 for me
@@rollingstopp '67 is sweet too.
It's sucking too much air you can tell that is
66 four speed drop top
The 69 Chevelle 427 LS7 was SCARY fast...
Love this video - wonderful to see you two working on a project together!
This makes me miss my old Holden HQ with twin headlights. Iove old cars. This chevelle looks really good. Id daily that as my only car.
Your dad reminds me so much of my grandpa, it’s crazy
Another great video I could watch videos like this all day. What a difference redoing that carburetor also that old school tool to check the dwell was neat, Thanks again for sharing 👍.
4* initial timing is to pass emissions and is not for performance. Total advance should be between 36-38* degrees and that would put your initial between 14-16*. Glad to see it back on the road. I had 1 Chevelle with a 283 2 bbl in it. It was a 1964 which I bought in 1973 and drove to HS and College. In ‘74 I bought a 68 Beaumont with a 327 4 bbl. In ‘75 was when I got into Z/28’s. Bought a 68 Z/28 in ‘75 and drove it to College. After that I bought a 71 Z/28, then in 77 I bought a new 77 Z/28, in 78 I bought a new 78 Z/28 then in 80 bought a new 80 Z/28. In ‘81 I bought a 70
Z/28 and still own it. All my Z’s were 4 speeds. I also owned a 87 Buick Grand Nat’l and sold it after owning it for 22 yrs.
I bought a new 77. Z28 ,too. White 4spd.
Congratulations on a job well done! That’ll be an awesome memory for you both. Looking forward to seeing what’s next!
This was so much fun to watch ! Thank you garage people !!!
Kool video love the old school mechanics knowledge brings back a lot of good memories hanging out with my uncles.
Glad to see you Torque all the bolts
Used to have one almost identical love them old Chevelles
Great video, glad y'all got it back on the road, good to see you and your Dad working together, that's what's important, look forward to update on Chevelle.
Thank you. Hopefully I can do a update sometime by the summer.
Great job guys 👏🙂 , I love to see classic cars getting a new life
Nothing better than working on an old car with pops fantastic car won't be long mine to be rolling
Look at you taking Dad's car out and playing around.
Awesome video.
I like your Dad's reaction when you ask him about taking it out for doing burnouts sometimes dads are just a wet blanket.
That car like your dad has earned his stripes and needs to be treated that way. It's fine to run him through the gears but it deserves respect and treated like your best friend.
Love the height of the rear, that look used to be achieved in cheap ways back in the day by just using airshocks or putting some 2x4 blocks between the coils of the rear springs. It just had to be up there.
Nice job, cool car! Glad to see it running again!
Good job on the Chevelle, guys. 👍👍👍👍
Everything in the incredible destination!
That is such a cool car! Glad you pushed your dad to get it running!
Nice Chevelle. Keep the progress going! Great video
Nice video! I’m restoring a 71 Chevelle. I had the same problem with my motor mounts. I found out that they did come with two different engine towers. Short and Wide was one - the tall and skinny was the other. I actually ordered the tall and skinny mounts from energy suspension, but ended up sending them back for the short and wide ones. They both come up under Chevelle.
Awesome to see this car running again! Great video!
Yeah we found that out. One was really for a big block and one for a small block but they would work on both engines as long as you had the matching frame mounts.
Awsome to see! Thanks for sharing! Beautiful car!
Bad gas killin the mosquitos over here.. 😆💨
Very cool. My moms first car when she started driving in 🇺🇸 was a 1969 Malibu. I’d love to one day get my hands on one and take her out in it.
Excellent job fellas! Can't wait to see what else you do next to that beauty! I've been fortunate to own 2- 69 chevelles. When I sell my house I will be throwing some aside to get another.
I'm am so jealous you lucky dog my favorite car in the world 69 chevelle I love it glad to see people out there still keeping them going true muscle cars real cars!
👍🏻 nice i have my dads 69 in my garage and last time it was on the road was also 94
Thats cool. Hopefully you will get it out back on the road soon.
I own this exact car. Bought it new 6/15/69. Didn't take delivery till 8/11/69. My parents had a mobile home also. Many coincidences. Car is restored and is resting in my garage. Great story. Loved it and I just subscribed. Wondering what your plans are for the Chevelle.
Those old Quadrajet Rochester, sometimes called Quadrajunk, but I liked them help build America, from cars n trucks, delivery trucks, everything seem to have a Quadrajet on it,,Great video Bro!!!
Thank you
Sounds awesome. That's my favorite muscle car.
awesome video great to see family working together 👍🏼
On Big Block site I like solid mounts cuz when you got power driver side motor mount it just tears the crap out of that rubber on the driver side I even tried turnbuckles and still tear them up
awesome work!!!!
Good to see you back on the tube! Thats a good ol chevelle. I got a 71 that I bought brand new. Needs restored. After you set the dwell you should recheck the timing with the vacuum advance unpluged. You probably know this. Thanks for the video!
I knew someone had the same year model of chevelle you have.. he put a 427 in it with auto trans shift kit.. that thing runs like a scalded dog.. of course it was putting out around 450 horses.. after some add ons
Wish it had an M-22 in it...so we could hear that badass whine!!!
What a great car👍
Awesome. Great video!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
Glad you got it running, your dad didn’t look like he was wanting to do any burn outs. Great video
Thanks
It Sure as Heck Sounds Good !!
That’s awesome I would keep it looking like that
Very clear Video
Sounds great
Good job leaving it outside
Great video ! Liked / Subscribed .
Thank you
Cool great job!!
Hope this worn out muscle get restored to its former glory. Glad to see it's still alive, after being left for so long. By the way, that's as long as my age. That means it was abandoned when I was born.
Gee , where was the dang burnout.? I missed it!!!!
Enjoying this, brings back memories of my 396 Camaro. How do you navigate rock auto? I've been there and it is confusing to find what I want.
I have a 68 Chevelle. And I have sears tool as well. Lo
love it!
You must be younger than me...I was taught how to use a #dwell meter back in 19 -never you mind :) I also remember the good old days when you could walk into a Brick-&-Mortar auto parts store and walk out w/almost everything you needed that same day. #RIPTrakAuto
Ah, but that's progress, right?
Can't wait to see what else you get into w/this Pavement Pounder - maybe Dad'll let you wear some tread off those rear tires.
I love the stance of the chevelle. Looks mean just sitting there.
Tuff look, like the rake on that 69!
Running like a million bucks !!!
damn great job 👏👍🏻🇺🇸
Things beautiful 😍
You hide the plates but it very similar to Illinois where I grew up & burned my bones !
lol Bmb you mean were you lived
Nice job
Thank you
Pretty cool.
Thank you
Nice
Yo I like the name of the channel I still feel two lane blacktop is one of my favorite movies that sticks in my head of course after mad Max and I truly like your car it broke back a fond memory of my first car although I'm pushing 60 I was run over by a car at 7:00 got some money at 18 wound up getting me a 69 Chevelle SS 396 375 horse m21 Rock crusher 4-speed 12 volt 411 rear end baby blue I can only hope and wish you have as much fun with that ride as I had with mine stay safe and enjoy sir
and s*** now after watching the video I guess the only thing that would make it any better is if I was actually there with you underneath that car wrenching on it and got to go for that all important and first test ride. 😎
i remember my dad traded his toyota mini truck for a 69 i once told the story to a toyota lover and he asked "what could be better than a mini truck" uh a 69 ss 396 chevelle he just goes "oh" with wide eyes and didnt say much after lol
7:15 im betting on the accelerator pump rubber has done gone bad
400 sb nice cam good to go.
And id fix that lifer tic before driving 😂
You come across doing burnouts wirh this chevelle you might blow out the rear end sence its so clean underneath 😁👍
what`s sad is , I had a mess of hot rods as a kid . and now I could never aford any car these days . and I want one bad, and some one has one and lets it sit 26 years . I could never have that car and never touch it . for that long,.heart breaking every time I see this !
Life happens and priorities change. Then it comes down to time and money. Working full time with a family plus a car that needs a full restoration sometimes is just not in the budget. We didnt come from money like some others you may see here on UA-cam. Now that he has the time and the will, we decided to get it going. Better late than never.
Right On !! Get That "BU" ba k on the Road !!! Yeeha!!! Lolol 24 years huh?
your dad is cool! js
Is this the original engine? It sounds like a passenger car 325 hp 396 not the sound or idle of a 350 to 375 hp engine and I saw only signal exhaust.
It is the orginal engine. It is a 325hp car and it has dual exhaust.
Nice car..... paint it !!!
i cant decide wich tail lights are better looking the 68 0r 69 .?? anyone ..
'68 all the way!
The car jack looks like the only thing thats clean underneath the car lol but its still a nice looking car 😁👍
Who asked your opinion
@@Robbylester lol i dont need to wait for someone to ask for my opinion 😁👍
Was your sponsor Cool Whip for this video?
LoL they needed to be after all those containers.
The old man don’t even know fuel filters don’t last 30 years and he just gonna blame the he carb 🤣
Filter had been changed not that long ago
Never in my life, its a first, someone torquing an aluminum bell housing. I raced chevys for 25 years and never did that. Didnt know there was a factory spec for the torque value.
There is a torque spec for everything. I torque everything but body bolts. Even spark plugs which most people never do.
@@4LaneBlacktop body bolts...lol
Where is the update on this car!! Come on, man don't do us like this!
Its been winter and I have been working on my projects. I will do a update sometime.
Are those cinder block safe?
The position and the weight that is on them I would say yes. They are actually pretty strong
Enjoy the Chevelle. Driving my 68 Malibu after $20K in repairs, show room paint and upgrades to the interior is great. Loads of positive comments from other drivers. Only downside is wife asking how much the repairs were. Not too much is always my answer.😊
@@garyhardee2720 LOL got to keep the price low
is this thing real numbers match car?
Yes. 100% all original except for wear parts. My dad has owned it since 1973.
4Lane Blacktop that’s awesome man really lucky to have a gem of a car like that !!!
@@Canadiancarguy1987 Yeah. My dad got lucky, bought the right type of car, and kept it all these years. Too bad it wasnt a 67 L88 Corvette
@@4LaneBlacktop 7 figure car now?
@@brianandlindafairchild1237 not quite. With a over the top restoration and turned into a restomod maybe it would hit that price point.
Chevrolet didn't document 69 chevelle ss when built.... that's why there's 5000 more than originally built .....
Chevelle for sale?
Sorry, unfortunately it is not.
Is it just me or is there a pretty significant lower end knock going on?
What you hear is an exhaust leak. I know it sounds like a knock but that is just how the camera audio is. We physically shook all the rods when the pan was off and the oil pressure has always been above spec.
@@4LaneBlacktop I understand what you are saying, however, rod an main bearing tolerances are measured in a few thousandths of an inch and you may not pick up on it by "shaking them". What I heard went away once you adjusted the timing and rebuilt the carb. Don't get me wrong hear, I am very envious of this car. The thought of it sitting there even one more day not being enjoyed brings me great pain. I am 53 years old and would give anything to have a car like that in my back yard. (It would probably be in the living room though). This is a real survivor and I doubt you could put a monetary value on it. Halfheartedly, I wish you luck with it, all the while wishing it were mine. Also, the scaring inside the oil pan could be a real problem, I would have replaced it and bought a new pump just to make sure this would not be a problem in the future. Then again, I would have taken the whole thing apart and lovingly restored every nut and bolt. Seriously though, I hope that you get years of enjoyment from that very special car.
Thank you. We didnt replace the pump because it was working, actually too good. We will save all the replacing for the restoration. I have a couple to do before I get on this one. For the meantime, he has his car to drive for once.
Wix rulz
How come you didn't rebuild your engine and put a 355 big block V8
Well Kellen, there is no such thing as a 355 big block. That's why.
@@Mr-er6fg That was going to be my reply.
355 is a 350 sbc bored 30 thou over.
They dont make em like the used too
there’s definitely 4 cups of rust in the gas tank and the 54 year old fuel filter probably has nothing but mold and rust 😂
We put a brand new tank in it a couple years before this
Bet if.u pull the valve covers and watch.rockers while.running one or.more are barely moving if at all. Id bet money on that.
Because the camshaft is shot
There is nothing wrong with the camshaft.
Oh no,,,you didn't paint the oil pan,,,
I will save that for the restoration.
8 degree initial at sea level..increase 2 degrees for every 1000 ft elevation.
325 or 350 horsepower 396.
Its a 325hp car
Motor too small you need a 572 motor asap
Sorry to be a rag. Forgot to paint the oil pan.
We decided not to paint it. We will save that for the restoration.
