You should really be looking at getting some back springs and getting that piece out from under the spring I'm sure it was put there to lift the ass end up do to soft springs but it's not the best way to do it and it will ride hard like a lumber wagon

I just want to say that is one very desirable car especially with the 396 4 spd. Combination . If it has the 375 h.p. version it is a total screamer all 375 h.p. that I am aware of had the 4 spd. I had a dodge charger 68 and 69 with the 440 eng. and the 375 h.p. 396 could stay with me if driven right. The 375 hp 396 was rated at 425 hp in 1965 no changes were made to lower hp but ralph nader complained so much about certain high performace cars that manufacturers had to lower hp ratings so people could get decent insurance prices.nader also ruined Corvairs reputation (corvair corsas are fantastic cars especially with a v8 midship). My friend had a 1967 chevelle ss 396 ci 375/425 horse motor 4spd. 3.73 positracion car. Propably the fastest factory car that I have ever ridden in but it it had little 14 inch redline tires so i can't say for sure. The hi po motor has a holley 780 carb.. rectangular port heads and a solid lifter cam it was the engine that replaced the 425 h.p. 409 in 1965. Thanks for listening. Will

You guys and your starting fluid, if you only knew the damage it does you wouldn't use it. The problem is it drives the cylinder pressure sky high. That psi has to go somewhere and that is breaking the ring lands on the pistons.
Starting fluid is a engine builders dream.
