But I was black mailed into divorcing him, by my parents because he would not settle down and stop doing drugs. He was about 27 and I was 33. I paid for everything..... but still to this day, deep down inside, I love him. But he still chooses to be homeless. And I'm still single.......

I’m not a car guy by any stretch of the imagination; however, this story transcends physical ownership and speaks directly of the inner moments and spaces that we all subscribe to in one way or another. It’s said that there is more that unites us than divides us, and I would argue that John & Marilyn’s story, Buddy & Toni’s gesture, and the cast of people that brought this rare account to life are proof that this is so. Thanks to the entire cast for sharing, and it is without question that we’re all better off having spent half an hour in your (recorded) company.

Brings tears to my eyes. I just lost a buddy to leukemia this year. He bought one new, gave it to his dad when he bought a 69 Nova SS 396 4speed, when his dad passed his mom gave it back to him. It was garage kept here in the PNW so it was no rust ball but it had well over 100k so it was no garage/trailer queen. I miss talking to him and sharing these types of videos with him.

Seriously one of the best videos I've ever seen on UA-cam. To wit: An impressive combination of people came together to make this happen, John and Marylin had such a great time driving it and attending the car show, it was so popular in a way that only original patina cars are any more, super generous current owner saying that John can borrow it for however long he wants to, and that freeze-frame fade out at the end jut brought the whole thing together in a perfect way.

I bought a 1966 ss396 4-spd Chevelle, all stock, white with black interior, when I was a 16yr old teenager. I got a speeding ticket doing 72 in a 35 almost immediately! LOL! A year later I traded it for a 1968 SS396 Camaro 4-spd, burnt orange with black interior. I really wish I still had the Camaro, but the Chevelle would be cool too. Both cost way more than I could ever afford nowadays. So many great memories in both of them. I know how this couple feels, it is amazing what was done for them. God bless you all who did this for these fine people! I had them when I was in high school in the early 70's. Both cars were at my high school my senior year, so I still got to see the Chevelle for a while, but no regrets! Loved both of them.

I'm a certified car nut. 24/7. I LOVED this story, saw most in hotrod, but seeing them in the car , yes eyes are watering because I'm happy for them. Just so wonderful. I have a huge collection. But my favorites are an unrestored grandprix that people laugh at, and my orig mint 78 ta 4speed, if you are havin a bad day, or just any reason to drive em it makes your face look like theirs. Its like getting 50 yrs younger in seconds. If I have to explain it you are not a car person. Thankyou again for posting and to all involved , bless you 🙏 for makin that man's life change just for that moment..💛💛💛💛👍🏆

Same with that Chevy commercial years ago....grown ass man and you show me an old guy that is reunited with "his car" from back in the glory days and I get a freakin lump in the back of my throat and some kinda liquid in the corners of my eyes..every damn time.

Isn't it amazing how people fall in love with their first or favorite car that they own and never let go of that love? My first car was a '62 MGA MKll and my goal is to find a worthy same old and drive the heck out of it. By the way, my brother's first car was a brand new '66 Chevelle SS 396 SS with a 4-speed, 325 hp, red with a black interior, no vinyl top. Man, when he first got that car and took me out in it....Wow, that car chirped the tires in the first 3 gears! I was 13 years old and at that point in my life I knew what Heaven was like! Great video, Thanks! You did a great thing involving the prior owners. The expressions of pure joy on their faces were priceless!

I watch a lot of types of videos on You Tube. This has been one of the best. I am seventy years old and had a 65 Mustang, 289. It brought the memories of those days back and I remember seeing the Chevelles, Novas, Corvettes and Torinos. Great to see people with the attitude they have and their great disposition. Thankyou.

Reminds me of my high school sweetheart and myself in my 66 SS. I'm 75 now & she moved on but I've still got the car! I restored it for my daughter as of all the cars I've done it's the one she wants to keep. Mine, being in California, was in much better shape but of course I had to replace the trunk filler panel too, I saved all the parts I replaced including the original holley carb which acts exactly the same as this one even after only sitting a month. I swapped in a temporary quadrajet to make it easier for her - a little priming and it's ready to go every time - no fuss. I drove it daily until the 70's gas crunch then just for road trips. Great to see them having so much fun with it! Nice that you did that for them!

To me a car like this will always catch my eye over a show queen. Fully restored cars are almost forgettable from one car show to the next unless something really special, but its cars like these that always stick out in your mind, especially when paired with a great story like this one.

I was 20 years old in 1970, when I purchased a 1966 SS396/325 Chevelle SS from my neighbor.
Was a mint green with Power Glide. Painted it Marina Blue, original white bench seats, with black dash and door trim combo white/black. Converted it to an M-21 4 speed. 15x8 Rally Wheels with thin Red walls. Absolutely was in love with this car.
Since then a new 72 Nova SS, 69 Corvette, 87 Grand National, and now a 2017 Chevy (Holden) SS. But this one story is the real true winner...
You have no idea how much this story, and the people in it, inspired me. What a wonderful portrayal of humanity connected by the passion for cars, and one another.
Look at all the negative happenings in this country and around the world, and to be so uplifted by this story, and more importantly, the people through and through.
Even the ones at the car show. Real people, real expressions, real passion.
John and Marilyn are the example of what a relationship can truly be, and when she snuggled up to him on the closing scene, and expressed their passion for life, I just laughed with joy and applauded. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sweet SS ! Beautiful story of two people in love with their former Chevelle. Damn, I can relate. Dec 65, I purchased a demonstrator, new marina blue SS 396 Chevelle. 325hp, 4 speed, 3.73 posi rear. Great car for the 17 months I owned it. Traded it in on a red 67 Pontiac GTO ragtop. Wish I still had both these cars ! I often wondered what ever happened to both these cars !
