I did that, but forgot to save the tiefs before... all died and grove shut down :( Going for it again after I finish most of the Axt 1 first section
Whats the version of the game coz i tried that but he had no armor when i knocked him out and only had a book xD
I did that in another playthrough and had the same thing! I think this way works because you have to do it before having any conversation with him and force him to come to your camp. Hopefully that helps!

Go look at the patch release dates, and the notes. Also keep in mind anyone playing on youtube is a bit sus because of mod availability.
Latest patch version for me. When he’s knocked you you have to grab quick because he stands up. Had to drop him twice.
